    Description

Hi gardening and nature fans, join us to support sustainable agricultural in the Casamance Region of Senegal. We are a young Senegalese-German couple who love nature and agriculture. We started our own gardening project recently. Our objective is to support an alternative way of growing fruits and vegetables to protect the beautiful nature of Casamance and to earn a living. We just succeeded to have enough water for our exploitable land area (almost 2ha) - Yeah! We need YOUR assistance in good agricultural practices such as permaculture, composting... to make this dream become true. Our farm is situated in a touristy area, the beach is not far away and offers ideal balance to the gardening work.

    Help

We need volunteers with experiences and competences in good agricultural practices including agroforestry, permaculture and biologic gardening to achieve our projects objective to support sustainable agriculture in the Casamance Region of Senegal. The workawayers can help in so many issus such as improving composting, planting, seedlings, watering as well as sharing knowledge about good agricultural practices, e.g. permaculture which we like to introduce little by little. We have animals like chicken and ducks who need some care, help to prepare food and shopping are also welcome.
On our farm, there is always work and something to do. Our volunteers should be creative, we need persons who take initiative and who discover easily where they can contribute.

    Accommodation

We have a small round hut with simple rooms and shared bathroom/toilet. We have running water in the house but still bad electricity.
Also, we water our plantation with solar energy which allows us to exploit more over the time. Our water comes from the well and bore hole and it is safe and we drink it without problems.

We used to cook local rice dishes on our farm and everybody helps to prepare food including volunteers. We normally cook outside with firewood, alternatively with gas. We are open to try new cooking styles and learn from each other.

    What else ...

Our farm is a little bit far from the village, so you have to be ready to take the bike or walking. The beach is not far away where you can find nice hostels where you can meet people from different countries as well as local people. The next biggest town is Kafountine where the fishing sector is the most important economical source. The Gambia is not far away and we have relatives there - so, you also could enjoy a short trip to this English speaking country!
