We had the pleasure of hosting Katie, and we couldn’t have asked for a better Workawayer. Top line, if you are considering Katie for a Workaway, we highly recommend her!

Beyond her strong work ethic, Katie was also a kind and thoughtful presence in our home. She was always willing to help out, communicated well, and treated both people and space with great respect. She was great with our son Luca, and our animals loved her. Her positive attitude and willingness to contribute made a real difference, and we truly appreciated her time with us.
If you have the opportunity to host Katie, don’t hesitate—you're in for a great experience!
I don't even know how to describe my stay here in Málaga with Karen, Juan, Luca and their furry friends.😅
This was my first workaway experience and I couldn't be more thankful to chose this family.
They always made sure that I felt comfortable and helped out with problems coming up.
My work was easy and I had a lot of freetime to explore the city
… read more or even could do weekend trips and take one day off. In general they are super flexible!
Karen and Juan also appreciated everything I did for them what made me feel very welcome!
They even took me to some places like the Botanical garden or some restaurants & cafés or asked me if there's anything I wanna see where they could take me by car.
Little Luca is also an adorable child. He is super smart and the few times I was watching him, we had a lot of fun.
Sandy and Nugget were also very sweet. Sandy is a super friendly dog and easy to handle. I had some great walks with her either at the park nearby or the beach.
As well, the location is perfect. It took me about 20-30min to get right into the historical center of Málaga and the bus stop is not even 3min. away! And within 5-10min walking you're at the beach.
All in all I'm so thankful for these four amazing months I spent with them and I highly recommend you staying with them in Málaga. Thank you Karen and Juan! hope to see you again🥰

I finally had some time to think back on my amazing adventure in Málaga with Karen and Juan. The first time I entered their home, I felt at home, and that feeling dominated my whole stay in Málaga. I was there for about three months, from mid-January to mid-April, and I would have stayed longer if I hadn't had to return to Germany to finish my

Monday through Friday was my normal work schedule, which included cooking, grocery shopping, taking Sandy for a morning walk, and other light household chores. Additionally, if I wanted to buy groceries for myself but the family didn't necessarily need them, I was always more than welcome to do so. Karen and Juan are quite flexible regarding the work that needs to be done during the week, even though there is a schedule! (This applies to household things etc. Logically, childcare hours cannot be adjusted as easily). They agreed to reschedule the times whenever I needed time off, whether it was for an appointment, Semana Santa, or friends visiting me. This allowed me to have plenty of time for my other interests, which was really pleasant and much appreciated. I also had time for exploring other interests, such as attending a Spanish class twice a week. In addition, they offered to help me with anything and answered whatever questions I had. Nearing the end of my stay they even took me to the botanical garden of Málaga since it was on my bucket list and I wanted to see it before I went home. That and other small things just made me feel appreciated and I’m happy to have a place in Málaga I can come back to and feel welcomed :)
You should love animals since besides their dog Sandy they also have a lovely cat named Nugget which I adored! Sandy and Nugget are both really cute and I loved having them around. Especially when they would hang out in my room with me!
My job also required me to watch Luca occasionally. He's one of the funniest two-year-olds I've ever met, and I'm not even kidding. He's also really intelligent, and I had fun hanging out with him. Many times, it didn’t even feel like „working“ but just like hanging out with my tiny friend. Luca is an amazing, kind, smart, and hilarious child who won my heart quickly. We either played inside or we went to playgrounds, the park or the beach!
It's also important to note that, while working Monday through Friday, I was able to take the weekends off and still had plenty of time to travel. Almost everything on my travel bucket list was possible for me to do.
I will forever carry this experience in my heart and I’m so happy I did it and everything worked out :) Just in general they are very nice, caring, loving, and funny people to be around. I haven't seen them in roughly two weeks, but I must admit that I already miss them.
Till we see each other again I wish them ALL the best in their life <3Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

We HIGHLY recommend Silvia for any Workaway experience that she is applying to. We had the pleasure of hosting Silvia for two months, and it was a wonderful experience. From the moment she arrived, Silvia was eager to contribute, adapt, and immerse herself in our daily routines.

Silvia was involved in various activities around our house, from walking our dog every morning, to grabbing groceries for us and cooking family meals and cleaning, to watching our very energetic 2-year-old son. She learns quickly and is very independent. Whenever there were no more ‘assigned’ tasks, she always found something new to do to help us.
Beyond her work contributions, Silvia was a joy to have around. She brought a positive energy to our home, always respectful of our space and contributing to a harmonious living environment. She shared many of our meals and our lives, and was friendly and loving toward our son.
We are grateful for open-mindedness, respectfulness, and kindness and for the help that she gave us during those two months. We highly recommend Silvia to any future hosts. She is not only a hard worker but also a wonderful person to have around. We will stay in touch!

The word that best describes my time with them is harmony cause understanding each other has been easy and pleasant from the first moment.
Karen and Juan are super kind and sweet and really care about everything is going on in a good way, they are really easygoing and open minded so that every kind of doubt or request you have just talk with them and they will be happy to find a solution or give some advice.
Luca is an incredible sweet and smart child, he is simply adorable and it's easy and really pleasant to play and talk with him.
Then there are the two fluffy ladies, Nugget the cat and Sandy the dog, both sweet and really cuddly. Spending time with Sandy walking at the beach was a blast!
My schedule was more or les monday to friday 9 am to 2 pm but was quite flexible. The first thing was walking the dog for 1 hour, then clean ( we made a schedule to split the different rooms in different days) and then cook, then once a week or when was in need i spent some hours with Luca.
Every week was a little bit different because something impredictable always happened but to be honest that was funny actually.
I had planty of free time to go out with friends and visit the city and the region, I even get a side job and still had time to explore and enjoy the beautiful Malaga.
The location is perfect, close to lots of amenities but in a quite and safe neighborhood and the center is easy to reach by bus so that you can easily choose to stay in a quite area or get into the city caos.
I'll be forever grateful to this beautiful family for the opportunity they gave me and will keep them in my heart as the begining of a beautiful journey.

Vom Workawayer (Annet) für Host
When I first agreed to stay with the family, I envisioned a commitment of "at least two months". Little did I know, I'd be blessed to share six unforgettable months with them!
My primary responsibility was to care for the little, fun-loving Luca for five hours a day (Monday to Friday), as he was still waiting for his spot at the daycare. We
… read more mostly spent our time outdoors because Luca likes to be active and run around. It also allowed the parents to work on their own things at home, uninterrupted.
Luca is one of the most curious and adventurous kids I've ever met! Spending time with him didn't feel like work but more like having a fun time with my best friend – going to parks and cafes, sipping coffee and milk (for each their own), watching birds and planes, dancing and joking around. He is very verbal for his age, so we always had long and interesting discussions about everything surrounding us.
Karen and Juan were so much more than just hosts; they truly became dear friends. They always made an effort to consider my preferences and needs, ensuring I was well-rested and had ample personal space. Moving to Malaga was so much easier thanks to them – Karen always introduced me to new people and Juan shared tips on how to get around. And the best part: they have also traveled the world as Workawayers, so they really understand everything that comes with it.
In addition to the three great humans, I also got to spend time with and give a good rub to cat Nugget and dog Sandy who are both very friendly and still getting used to their new life in Europe.
Typically, we had a standard work schedule agreed on but we kept it flexible in case someone of us needed to change it for whatever reason. No matter the tweaks to our routine, Karen and Juan always made sure that I wouldn't work for more than 25 hours a week.
In terms of accommodation, I had my own bedroom (with a large closet and a desk) and a private bathroom (with a bathtub). The apartment itself was large and spacious with great views from the living room and balcony. The cherry on top was the inviting pool area in the courtyard.
The apartment is located in a great area and everything is close by:
➛ the beach less than 10 mins walking
➛ a large park right next to the building
➛ at least four supermarkets within walking distance
➛ plenty of cafés and restaurants in the neighborhood
➛ playgrounds on almost every street
➛ bus stop 3 mins and metro station 11 mins walking from the building
➛ 10 mins to the airport by taxi
Malaga itself is such a great place to live in but I especially loved the neighborhood I stayed in because it offered an unfiltered glimpse into the day-to-day lives of its residents, away from the tourist hustle.
I could go on and on about how great the last half a year has been but most of all I'm forever thankful and moved by how Karen, Juan, and Luca opened their home and hearts to me and made me feel like a family member. I hope we'll stay in touch for a long time and friend Annet gets to be a part of Luca's big milestones in life, whether near or far! ♡Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
