Our stay in Sorø was soooo nice ! Sven and Christina were so welcoming since the first minutes and we really felt home so quickly thanks to them !
We stayed there for 6 weeks and work outside and in the coffee. We helped them to restore a small house, to any kind of help needed in the coffee or small projects outside (choping wood, cleaning,

The place is also very well located : a beautiful forest all around where you can hike, run and go to the lakes easily. And also take the train by walking 20 minutes to go to Copenhagen, Roskilde, Odense...
We really liked to be with other workaways. We did a lot of things together and it so nice to spend these evenings with them. It makes the experience even more intense !
So don't hesitate to go to Sorø, you will love it !
PS : You will also be able to taste some of the caffe's recipe and they are soooo good 😋

I spent two wonderful months at this place ! I would recommend it to everyone !
I really enjoyed all the different tasks: cooking, baking, gardening, outdoor work, cleaning, and of course, working in a café.
During my stay here, I had the opportunity to help in the kitchen with various dishes, assist with outdoor work like gardening or tidying

I learned a lot about how the coffee shop works, with the help of different advices. I had the opportunity to be here during the Fastelavnsboller season. What a luck to discover it !
I discovered how to prepare it, how to sell it, and of course, I tasted it !
It was fascinating to see how important it is to Danish people. I really enjoyed being with the customers and trying to learn how to make (at least try haha) latte art.
Christina and Sven are really kind and welcoming to everyone. I’m so happy for all our conversations, and I learned a lot—not just about baking. At this place, you’re surrounded by a wonderful family, with peaceful music, a huge forest, a beautiful sky, and (almost) every night a sky full of stars. And of course, there’s the lovely smell of pastries.
I’m feeling so gratefull about my stay here,. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay while traveling.
It’s also very interesting to learn about Danish culture, with Sven and Christina, and to have the opportunity to visit several places. The train station is very close, so you can easily take a train to explore the country. I recommend Copenhagen of course, but also Odense and Helsingør. :) It’s amazing to discover this country and also have a cozy home in the middle of the forest !
This trip was a wonderful experience shared with other Workawayers. It was so interesting to discover different cultures, languages, and habits. The guesthouse was always full of laugh, smiles, and crazy ideas for sharing things together ahah
This place is a wonderful memory in my mind !. Thank you so much for everything.
I will come back for sure !!

I had a wonderful time with Sven and Christina! I did lots of different tasks inside and outside. Every day was different to the days before and it never got boring.
The thing that meant the most to me was the feeling of community there. It was just great to work together as a team with other workawayers. I made very good friends that way.
Sven
… read more and Christina were always willing to help with problems and were always friendly and understanding, even when they were busy. Even though the moments off were only sometimes spent with the family, I found this privacy very convenient. That's why I was even more excited about the times we spent together eating dinner, watching football or playing table tennis.
One of the highlights of my stay was a week in which we helped the family finally move out of their old house. The actual move took place some time ago but we cleared out the last leftovers and learnt a lot about earlier times during this time. I think this week in particular has brought us all closer together.
The location of the café is also very good. The small forest was quiet and peaceful, but it wasn't far from the supermarket or the city centre. Copenhagen was also quite easy to visit. I can only recommend visiting other Danish cities on your days off. I personally liked that we could use bicycles to go on short tours in the surrounding area.
Over time, the family has become very special to me and it was very sad to say goodbye. I highly recommend supporting Sven and Christina as a Workawayer and I can well imagine returning here again for some time.
Thank you very much for the nice time:)Feedback

Vom Workawayer (Kaja) für Host
After having spent a truly beautiful month of August 2024 in Sorø, I had a very tough time saying goodbye to the peaceful nature, stimulating work environment and especially all the kind people I met and worked with. What I appreciated the most were Christina's and Sven's kindness, thoughtfulness and humour. With workawayers Luca and Victor I
… read more shared many laughs, conversations and daytrips. With all these great people around me I was always happy to start my day.
The family accepted me and my dog Kasper with open arms. They were interested in sharing languages, speaking about our cultures and passions. They told me about how their café started and how extremely proud they feel of their children - I was lucky enough to attend one of their concerts at the café, for that experience I am grateful to had been a part of. Together with other workawayers we all enjoyed many laughs and a lot of pancakes too. Sven, Christina and their children helped us with ideas for daytrips and made sure we felt at home.
The work included helping with chores around the house and with taking care of the garden. I never felt bored because every day was a little different, we always had clear instruction. I felt it is very important to the whole family to communicate as a team. I always had support from Sven and Christina and they were happy to help with any questions.
With the workawayers we stayed in a separate house next to the host's, with our own cosy rooms, two bathrooms and showers, so there was never any hurry while we got ready. Christina invited us each morning to have fresh bread and we had a big kitchen available to prepare our meals. It was also an amazing oportunity to learn about dishes from other countries and we bonded over cooking and sharing meals.
On our days of we would visit danish cities, the train station is around 10min walk away and it is very easy to travel with the train, they run very frequently and on time. There is Netto on the way as well and a lake to swim near by.
While exploring Denmark, we loved how clean the country is, with all its beautiful parks and lakes. I recommend Odense, Roskilde, Aalborg and Aarhus! Danish people are extremely polite and kind and they will go out of their way to help you.
I thank Christina, Sven, Silke, Viola, Karla, Sillas, Eis, Victor and Luca for this amazing experience. This trip has become one of my favorite memories and I hope we meet again in the future!

During my 3-week-stay, I handled many different tasks. In the café I was mostly responsible for cleaning the dishes, occasionally I also served customers and mopped the floor & cleaned the toilets after closing time. We also drove to Sven and Christina's old house for a few days to carry out renovation work there (trips to the recycling center,

He was always very friendly and helpful, I could approach him with any concerns. Later on he even contacted old friends to help me find a place in Berlin!
The location is wonderful. You're surrounded by a beautiful forest, there's a great swimming lake nearby and you can still reach the train station within 5 minutes by bike, so you're also well connected to Copenhagen.
Personally, I had hoped for a bit more (cultural) exchange during my stay - eating together more often, having a chat after work - that was the exception rather than the rule, so I spent most of my free time by myself.
Nevertheless, I had an interesting time, enjoyed the peaceful nature to the fullest and learned a lot about working in a café. :)Vom Host für Workawayer (Tarah)
Tarah stayed 3 weeks in June - we sincerly recommend her - she worked always good with full responsibility - and even contributed with interesting views on life which led to several interesting talks

I stayed here for most of June and was very pleased with how it went! I believe the description given by Sven matched my expectation and there were no unexpected "gotchas". There was always fresh ingredients at your disposal for making food, in addition to fantastic desserts that would sometimes be left over from the cafe. It's a very peaceful

Hope to visit again!
