I spent two wonderful weeks with Carven, Alex and their adorable daughter Xia in Tomino. They were very welcoming and quickly made me feel at home. I also had the great opportunity to meet their family and friends.Tomino is a beautiful place with lots to do nearby: beaches, eucalyptus forest, bike rides, river spots, hot springs, Portugal, and

I loved working outdoors; Caven and Alex took the time to explain everything to me, asking for my opinion each time.
With them, you can choose which language you want to practice: spanish, galician, cantonese, english, portuguese, french, italian, and maybe more!
During my second week, there were also a couple of volunteers from Italy who were also super nice. We had a lot of good times all together with sharing meals, doing activities around, win at dice against Alex…:D
Thank you for everything and I hope to see you soon!Dejado por el anfitrión para el workawayer (Caroline)
It was a pleasure to host Caroline for two weeks, she is a super smiley, fun and caring person who made our lives a lot easier by volunteering for help alll the time ! She pushed the lawnmower around without complaining (hehe), helped with transplanting some seedlings and cleared out a lot of weeds around trees amongst a load of other things. The

Nicola and Lisa came for a week and we really enjoyed their energy, company and positive attitudes! They did lots of work in the garden and helped mulch fruit trees, cut and collect grass for the compost and garden beds, get rid of an old netted fence caught in brambles (big job!) and gave our trees a big head start for the summer. They were very

The week spent with Alex, Carven, and Xia was unforgettable! It was wonderful to be able to help them on their property, but above all, to feel like part of the family. They are very kind and welcoming people. During our stay, we had the chance to enjoy our own space and comfort, but most importantly, to share beautiful moments together. It was

Jenny was a wonderful addition to the family and it was great to have her in the garden with us and spending those three weeks together. She's super hardworking and helped us with the water filter, getting rid of a big spiky plant with deep roots and loads of other stuff that came up that she was always up for! She even shared some yummy recipes
… read more (and helped out a lot with dishes that we appreciated a lottt) with us and was nice and chill reading in the hammock and hanging with the dog in her downtime. It was also nice to adapt to her diet and be conscious about our meat consumption, etc. It's always nice to have someone who agrees with the same values and cares about the future of the planet. She will always be welcome in our little home.

I cannot describe the three weeks (seemed like more and less at the same time) I spent with Carven, Alex and their baby to pay them justice. They are a very welcoming and caring family, volunteers have their own (comfortable) tent but are always welcome in the house. The work involved gardening, watering and pruning plants, and the main project we
… read more worked on was building a water filter out of natural materials (using stone, sand, old roof tiles and even plants) to turn the house's grey water into gardening water. It was really interesting to learn about, we needed a few attempts but made it work in the end and learned a lot in the process! Both Carven and Alex are amazing to work with as they include you in almost every decision, actively ask for your opinion even though you know less about the topic, and make you feel their equal. Every day we ate fresh food from their garden. I took their friend's dog who was staying there to keep me company in the tent and on walks. We shared the tasks of cooking/assisting and ate together all the meals, and even though I am not the biggest kids person I grew to want to spend more time every day with their daughter who is a little sunshine. They are very willing to share everything from knowledge to travel experiences, it felt more like staying with friends than with hosts. Also, I was always welcome to join reunions with family and friends or any kind of trips they went on, but it was also completely fine if I wanted to stay on the farm by myself. I felt really connected to their family after a short time, especially, I guess, because I was the only volunteer. The area is just marvellous, I went exploring and running a lot in the nature which begins right at their gate although they are in 15min walking distance to the village center and bus stop. Overall, thankyou for letting me stay, 100% recommend this workaway. Hope to see you again! JennySolo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Kim is the perfect volunteer. We were so happy to have her for a month. She got on with whatever job needed and was super efficient, fast and put heart and muscle into it. At home was she proactive as well with the kitchen and shared some delicious recipes with us. On top of that she helped with the design of one of the other houses and helped us

During our month together, Carven and Alex were fantastic hosts. I really enjoyed helping them with their compostable toilet project and the renovation project for their future home and garden maintenance. They gave good advice and a lot of information about visiting the region. Thank you for everything. Wishing you good luck in the future. 😊

Max was very enthusiastic and had a great attitude, he is social and very talkative. He came in a week of full rain and was very good about sleeping outside in the newly set up stand up tent that he helped pitch. He had quite physical work as the rain prevented much else but was happy pottering away smashing debris down.

Carven and Alex are fantastic hosts with a great vision for how they want to see their projects proceed. Alex is fantastic at directing work and is frequently involved right next to you, and both himself and Carven are incredible conversationalists with great stories from incredible experiences that I encourage they write about and workawayers who

I found the accommodation (a tent) was comfortable and relaxing. Alex and Carven are both fantastic cooks, and the surrounding area is lovely.
I'd say the only catch would be potentially difficult to connect to internet from the tent, though this could have been resolved since my stay, but this gave me plenty of time to catch up on reading.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.
