Mid-July, August
help with summer maintenance like lawn mowing, weeding, watering, cleaning and vacuuming the swimming pool. Important information - the swimming pool is clothing optional.
September-October - garden help and house-sitting.
Jane is expecting/hoping to have an operation to install a new hip probably in mid-June so she will need help with many of her daily duties during her recuperation time.
Depending on what stage Matthew’s project is at, he may need help on his expandable, off grid tiny home - the microhaven - being built on a trailer. The perfect project for a retired architect.
We are in our mid 70’s, but are very active. We wrestle with our beast of a beautiful garden all year, and we need help getting it ready and keeping it look it’s best for another summer!
We would be very welcoming of a couple who would prefer a longer stay as there are always ongoing projects and just managing life in general during the summer. It is also quite easy to find summer jobs in Penticton with the time that you are not Workawaying for us! We are happy to arrange our work times around paid work times
We live on a ½ acre just outside of a small town (pop 35,000). Our workaways are welcome to enjoy our hot tub and bikes.
We prefer to host a couple but the right single can be awesome.
Non-smokers are also an essential requirements - we are reformed smokers, therefore very sensitive to any hint of smoke in our home.

General information about us:
Matthew is a retired architect who takes a very hands on approach to life, Jane is an experienced gardener with her own style. She loves to cook too. Workaways become a part of our extended collective community. We tend to have quite a few dinners with friends and family to which you would always be invited.
We like to live well, to enjoy the good things in life, but keep to an economic budget, so we can also have money to travel! We would like to share some of these ideas and our lifestyle.
Jane speaks French and a little Spanish and was an English major, so is happy to correct and help understand grammar and language. She loves to cook so there are lots of chances to learn, from the basics to fancy.
We feel it takes only a little more effort to make life more special or attractive, and we enjoy passing these ideas along.
Ayuda
Since this is a room only - no food included - position we generally only require 12 - 15 hours help per week. Hours can usually be organized around a job if you find paid work.
There are lots of projects - started, halfway through and ready to start! The garden is a perpetual task.

TRANSPORT FROM VANCOUVER - E-BUS () RUNS TO WEST KELOWNA FROM VANCOUVER. WE WILL PICK YOU UP IN WEST KELOWNA
Penticton also has an airport with direct, flights from/to Calgary and Vancouver.
This is a good area to walk, hike, kayak and bike, and an excellent climbing area at Skaha Bluffs, in addition to the lake and vineyards that make this area so special. We are close to a rail trail -KVR - good to hike or bike - or even snow shoe!.
There are bikes available for your use if you would like. We are out of town a bit, but it is a very easy walk or bike to downtown.
Apex is nearby. It is a great ski hill and in summer all the runs become awesome mountain biking and hiking trails. In ski season there challenging runs, cross-country and snow-shoeing trails.
Skaha Bluffs are an exceptional climbing area, plus there is a climbing wall in town for inclement days!

We felt so welcomed, part of the team, they treated us as friends and we had a fantastic time relaxing after work by their stunning pool and in the wonderful gardens. It was so hard to leave.

This is such an amazing workaway! Jane and Matthew are very nice and helpful, the work is fair (not more than 5 hours/day and 2 days off!) and the area, not to mention their house and garden, is absolutely beautiful. You’ll also get very spoiled with all the delicious food Jane makes!

Actually I only can repeat what the others already said. Matt and Jane are super nice and the food is just amazing! They live in a beautiful house and downtown is only a 5 min ride with the bike. All in all I had a great time and absolutely recommend applying!

I spent one month working for Matt and Jane and absolutely loved it. They were incredibly welcoming and I immediately felt at home. I was well looked after whilst there and had plenty of time to explore the area. I would highly recommend applying!

Sophie added a wonderful new dimension to life here. She and Rachael worked so hard, they seemed to just love being outdoors. They needed little supervision, and were able to see when things needed to be done. Sophie was totally honest when she said she could cook until the cows come home!
