Samuel joined me with 2 french coworkers for three weeks in September and all three of them proved to be of big help, great spirits, lots of enthusiasm and a can-do spirit, no matter which project was presented to them. I cannot reiterate how thankful I am to them for not letting me down even though the work was tough and intellectually not that challenging. Their team effort and good spirits ware exemplary and I wish them all the best for their next endeavors! They are always invited to the island (when the work is over)!

Monica and Niiklas have truly overexceeded my expectations with regards to their work ethics, stamina, high spirits and enthusiasm overall.
I pitied them because timing was such that one big project needed to be taken care of with high priority which was to dig a huge hole into the ground to be filled with a new waste water tank. This task proved
… read more to be much more difficult as anticipated as the sandy soil soon turned out to be heavy clay which was very difficult to be handled. On top of that an unusually heavy storm had hit the island some weeks earlier resulting in some trees being uprooted and additional heavy work required involving digging and wood work.
Niklas and Monika embraced all this physical work with admirable stamina, never complaining, and proved to be hard working and truly enjoyable guests at the same time. I and my dog will miss them a lot and can only end with a very big THANK YOU for all their efforts and contribution!
We’ve spent most of September on this incredible island with Georg, three French workawayers, and the sweetest dog you could ever imagine. The island is truly one-of-a-kind, offering breathtaking sunsets that make every day feel special.
The work was physical with a LOT of digging but now most of the digging should be done. 😋

… read more work, we’ve shared an unforgettable time: barbecues, game nights, boat trips and countless wonderful moments that have made this experience even more magical.

Auch schätzen wir sehr, dass Georg offen gegenüber Vorschlägen und Ideen war. Man kann gar nicht lange genug bleiben, um alle Geschichten zu hören, die er zu erzählen hat. (Viel Erfolg bei der Suche nach einem Land, das er nicht bereist hat ;)
Wir haben uns gut aufgehoben und respektiert gefühlt.
Es war eine wunderbare Zeit, und wir können sagen: Sie hat uns verändert.
Danke für die Gespräche auf Augenhöhe, die Unterstützung und ein Stück Zuhause im nördlichen Italien.
Theresia und Christoph waren das Traum-Workaway-Paar, das sich ein Gastgeber nur wünschen kann! Joana and Ole have been exeptional Workawayer‘s - they were helpful in every way, always polite and supporting me in so many ways - I really need to re-organize myself to cope without them! They had to endure a tough situation with the house being stripped of all amenities, full of dust, walls being cut out with only one bathroom left with gravel
… read more on the floor and only occasional warm water - they never complained and even a camping kitchen set up in the garage could not dampen their spirits. I am very grateful for the time, energy and positive attitude both have brought to our little party which made life for me during this adventure so much more pleasant! ( For other workawayer‘s reading these lines I must add that living conditions are improving fast with a truck full of material and amenities having arrived today which will be installed over the next days…😉)

We had a great time on the island. Georg is an amazing host, very friendly and relaxed.
Living together with him was very harmonic, he adapted to our rhythm and we could choose our own working hours. He also made sure we are comfortable with the tasks we worked on.

… read more we appreciated that a lot. He, for instance, also took us on boat trips, and it was really a value to him that we had a good time on the island. We could also use a small boat to get on and off the island independently, and exploring the island by canoe was also really fun!
The island itself is a very unique and precious land, not too far from places with shops, bars and more.
Joya, the dog is very cute and loves company.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Georg’s island! Georg is an inspiring and well-traveled chap and a great host. He was communicative, compassionate and accommodating to our needs at all times, ensuring we were comfortable, happy and thoroughly well-fed throughout our three-week stay with him. … read more perfect for anyone seeking an escape from a hectic life. The vast range of wildlife, plants and trees, always accompanied by the ever-present birdsong, are a true joy to live amongst.
The work required of us ranged from gardening and cleaning the boats to more arduous digging and landscaping. At all times Georg made it perfectly clear that if a job was too strenuous there was no pressure to do it and that there were always lighter jobs to be done; our happiness and comfort on the island was always of upmost priority and Georg went above and beyond to see to this. We also appreciated his flexibility when it came to working hours; we were able to arrange our time in a way that suited us. The island is situated a short boat-ride from the mainland, and from there we could easily access Aquileia and Grado either by car or on the bikes that were available to us. Georg has a small motorboat that we were taught how to drive and we were able to use this autonomously - a great experience for us having never done this before!
Due to the nature of the project being on an island, there is the element of isolation to consider, but Georg put in an extra amount of effort to compensate for this and made our experience more than just about the work on the island; on the evenings and weekends we enjoyed boat rides to nearby local restaurants, cafés and bars and were able to indulge in the Italian way of life through this. The isolation was also balanced out with the company of Georg’s wonderful dog, as well as many a pleasurable evening spent having long conversations over dinner with Georg, Michaela and family.
