    Description

Hi! My name is Sophie and I live on a 400 acre riverbound oasis on the Mid North Coast of NSW (inland of beautiful Port Macquarie) with my son. We have sheep, alpacas, cattle, chooks, dogs, cat, bees and horses (both wild and tame). We have on farm guest accommodation for paying guests which you will be occupying during your stay.

Our farm is totally off the grid - the power comes from the sun, the water comes from rain and the river and the rubbish must either be burnt or taken to the tip so we are careful about what we buy and consume. We grow most of our own food and eat a lot of vegetarian meals, but when we do eat meat it is home grown and we know it has lived a happy life!

We work in big days followed by days off so you can take the time to explore the surrounding area and learn to surf etc. We do expect you to work hard, show initiative, take pride in your work and want to help make our lives easier. In return you have luxury accommodation and excellent meals.

You will learn about a variety of animals, about food and natural remedies, you will see a platypus in the wild, and will learn about solar and self sufficiency. You will experience the peace and serenity of our beautiful oasis and most backpackers have an experience they remember fondly for life - it's a very special place!

    Help

Planting trees, fencing, building projects, sometimes solar projects, weeding and gardening, managing, feeding and working with livestock. Tractor driving, slashing, whipper snippering etc. Cutting firewood in winter and cleaning paddocks of fallen trees. So much to do and we try and give you work you will enjoy as well as the tedious stuff.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You might be lucky and get to stay in the guest accommodation, otherwise you will be in a 'shepherd's hut' style cabin with a verandah and a campfire. You will have solar power and rain or river water with a long drop toilet. You will have breakfast in your cabin and then all other meals are with us. All our accommodation is spotlessly clean and beautifully finished and decorated. You will feel very nurtured with us and by us!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Sit and wait for the platypus to pop up, kayak the river, swim, explore the pristine rainforest, hike in the 'bush' (forests) or just relax with a good book. We take most backpackers to Billabong Zoo near Wauchope and Ellenborough Falls at Elands (2nd highest waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere) etc

we pick backpackers up either from the Greyhound Station in Port Macquarie or the train station in Wauchope.

We are healthy, happy people with a strong work ethic, a love of good food and interesting company.
