    Beschreibung

This farm from around 1864 in Hardanger has not been run for about 30 years, and has been brought back to life by us and a bunch og volunteers .Tessa grew up in Oslo and moved here 2017, and Ander came in 2019 and is from Basque country.
Ander and Tessa take care of of their newly planted apple plantation, and make apple juice and cider.
We got some chickens and Ander keeps bees, and we make firewood for the house.

We like people that have some working skills, that they are practical and get things done in an effective way.
You need to be able to work independent after being introduced to the work. We live on a hill, and it is a plus if you are fit to walk up and down the hill. We need to do handy(wo)man jobs around our houses. This can include painting, laying rocks, make firewood, carpentry, sement work etc.

We will be housemates during your stay, that means sharing the chores in the house. Tessa and Ander have their own appartement inside the house. We expect you to show some knowledge and initiative in house chores and other basic daily tasks. You must be able to cook for yourself and keep it clean.

We offer a separate bedroom in the house/or a room in one of our huts next to the main house, a hot shower, basic food, sometimes home-made cider in good company, and spectacular surroundings.
We like to share some meals when you help us on our farm and around the house. We have a lot of local meat in our freezer.
We do not host vegans/vegetarians since local meat from the hills is a big part of our diet and the Norwegian kitchen.

The farm overlooks the glacier Folgefonna across the fjord.
The fjord offer opportunities for swimming and fishing, and the hills are full of hiking opportunities.
Tessa and Ander often work late. Sometimes we are social and sometimes we all need time on our own. It is therefore great if the workawayers can be self sufficient in their free time and manage to transport themselves around. Our car only has 2 seats, and is in use daily. So the bus is your option, and it is limited. So we are a bit isolated here.
We do not accept people that shows up without writing an application first, or doesn't have a workaway account.

They will also learn about how to start a farm and problem solving. The buildings is full of old farming equipment and tools, so it can be interesting historically and culturally. The work is physical so people might feel they get in good shape in beautiful surroundings and clean air.
Tessa is a student of land use management and ecology. We might share interesting ideas about ecology and farming.Ander is a forest engineer and is interested in trees, plants and animals. He likes playing board games and also keeps bees.
The landscape in Hardanger is beautiful, with waterfalls, fjords and mountains with snow all around. The glacier Folgefonna we overlook across the fjord.

    Was noch ...

There is plenty of places to relax on the farm land, in the forest and hikes to do on the surrounding hill. Berry picking in the summer, and mushroom picking in the autumn. All around the fjord there are hiking trails, and the fjord welcomes for a swim, sauna or fishing. The nearest town is Odda, a 30 minutes bus ride away, and the village Lofthus is a 10 minute bus ride away. Lofthus has a pub and restaurant, but its not so much socially that happens around so we usually make our own party. The town Voss is a one hour bus ride away with access to the Bergen-Oslo railway line.
