Description
You need to be prepared to get dirt under your nails, yell at dogs and be confident around horses - you don't need to be a rider but if you are, then there's opportunity for riding. You need to be able to follow instructions, put things back where you go them from and show initiative. If you can handle that then please reach out. We'd love to hear from you.
We are a mature couple living on 270 acres of Australian bush backing onto State Forest.
We currently have 16 horses, cattle, poultry, dogs and cats who need daily attention.
We get up with the sun and go to bed with the sun - well almost. A typical day starts around 6:30am feeding animals before it gets hot - then breakfast and start the day with other chores like gardening, house cleaning and cooking - chill in the middle of the day when it gets hot and then go again late afternoon when it cools down again.
The most beautiful quiet location with loads of native bird life. We love having company, a yarn, a laugh and a few drinks and good food at the end of a busy day. Sitting out on the deck or around a bonfire. No kids at home any more.Types of help and learning opportunities

You will get to experience life on an Australian farm. See some Australian native animals and enjoy the beautiful scenery a rural environment has to offer. If you love animals and you don't mind mucking in then you will love it here.
Help
General house cleaning - floors, windows, doors, ceiling fans, kitchen cupboards etc etc. Various outdoor maintenance tasks as required e.g. fencing, re-oiling window sills, pruning, planting and general garden maintenance and a hand with the animals. You will need to be reasonably fit and prepared to get dirty. You need to be able to work unsupervised at times. If you are an experienced horse rider that could be handy also. As it can be hot in the middle of the day the ideal time for work is early morning before it gets too hot through until lunch time (5 hours). After lunch you can relax and explore.
Drivers licence very handy.Languages spoken

Accommodation
There is currently three bedrooms which is separate and private from the main house. This area has its own bathroom and toilet.
What else ...
horse riding, kayaking, swimming, hikes, waterfalls, hot air ballooning and much more near by. Closest main town is Mareeba but if you're looking for some night life then Cairns is an hour's drive away. You will preferably have your own transport as there is limited public transportation in the area. Sorry not suitable for young children.

The help wasn't hard at all - mostly cleaning around the house and a bit of gardening and feeding the horses every day. We went riding every weekend and watched a movie together every night. I also met lots of their friends.
