Wonderful Experience with the host and Her Amazing Family

… read more welcomed and at home. We were also lucky to spend time with her children—Sameera, Dhanisha, and Anwar—who are all well-mannered, intelligent, and full of life. My son Akram developed a close bond with both the host and Anwar, and they spent a lot of time communicating in both English and German.
One of the things that surprised us most was the host’s flawless English, which sounds like a mix of American and British accents—hard to believe she is a native German speaker! But what truly touched me was the way she is raising her three children alone, with love, care, and discipline, all without relying on modern distractions like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or constant screen time. In today’s fast-paced world, this is incredibly rare and admirable.
Their lifestyle is grounded in simplicity and natural living. They eat wholesome, natural foods, and generously offered us the same. It was a refreshing and healthy change that we appreciated deeply.
Out of respect for her privacy, the host declined to take any photos with us, especially with her children. We completely understand and admire her strong values around privacy and safety.
We learned so much during our short stay—just from her words and the way she lives her life. We left with full hearts, wishing we could have stayed longer. But we’re already planning to return for a longer stay in the near future.
We truly miss the host, Anwar, Sameera, and Dhanisha. Thank you for everything.

Remy is a fine fellow. He came here and we were lucky he did, as I had torn a ligament and couldn't walk the very new addition to our family, our dog. It was a blessing to have him here and his music in the house. We hope to host him soon again.

I stayed with Verena and her family for nearly three weeks after she reached out to me last minute. It was a wonderful experience. I was traveling alone to Germany to seek medical help for my badly healed broken elbow and I speak no German. She was helpful with calling several doctors and making appointments for me and eventually I saw an elbow

The timing worked out for both of us because she had recently adopted a new dog, a sweet and gentle Samojed who was strong and full of energy and needed a lot of exercise. When Verena sprained her ankle on the second day I was there, I was able to take Nora on long walks along the bike path. I was able to help with a few small household projects as well. I got to know the children and her partner Andrés and I played her beautiful steel string acoustic guitar and some of the flamenco parts I know how to play. We had a few singalongs with the ukeleles and guitar and I enjoyed the musical exchange. I saw she had been playing Scarborough Fair so I learned it and tried to play along. She took me to a nice casual restaurant nearby for lunch one time and an outing to Wassekuppe where there is snow and skiing. I am very grateful she reached out. I enjoyed the company of the children Danisha, Camira and Anwar. I would not hesitate to recommend her as a host and I would surely return if my travel plans point me in that direction. The small village of Hilders was very nice and I made full use of the nearby swimming pool and sauna which helped to alleviate some of my elbow pain at least temporarily.

I mostly worked on my own, but I had the freedom to prioritize the tasks the way I wanted after she explained on the first day what tasks she would like to get done, which worked perfectly for me. I helped her prepare a kitchen in the garage, reorganizing the myriad of work tools she had there and finishing the kitchen in the apartment downstairs, which involved carpentry and plumbing.

Noah is a very smart person, who at the same time sees when a pair of hands is needed. There is literally nothing he cannot do, or he’ll tell you otherwise. He is willing to research on anything to get any job done.
Noah can work wonders in the kitchens. Each meal he prepares is not only nutritious but so delicious you do not want to stop eating.
