Beschreibung
Our school was established in 2018 by me, Cynthia and my husband Silumba in Katombora area in Kazungula border town, Zambia, located 45km from Livingstone town along Nakatindi/Kazungula Road. The reason why we started the school, was because we realized there were no pre-schools available nearby in the surrounding villages. So children had no access to fundamental education. The school is a non-profit entity which is financed only through donors and well-wishers. Our focus is to provide a stimulating early learning and child care experience which promotes each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
The motto of the school is: Perseverance shall win through. The vision of the school is for each child to discover their interests and to develop a curiosity of and love for learning. We believe that a happy child is a successful one. We are committed to providing a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn.
The school has a current enrollment of 125 children. The school enrolls students in baby class, middle class, reception class, grade one, two and three. There is more demand each day but the school is currently not able to fully sustain its daily operation; hence, we are requesting help from the volunteer world in areas like:
- Volunteer teachers, counselors, and sports coaches
- Volunteers with experience in tourism and/or marketing
- Farming
- Carpentry
- Tailoring
To sustain its daily operations, the school runs a farm, poultry project, and cattle project whose products help supplement the school feeding programs and purchase learning accessories. We have also recently started a campsite and renting out four African huts through online platforms to generate additional income for the school's development. Any volunteers who know the tourism industry and could help with marketing of the accommodations are very welcome. We have also thought about offering village tours to tourists, so any help with developing this plan would be appreciated, as well. Our future goals include modernizing the school, building more classrooms, and growing continuous income for our six teachers' salaries and daily school administration.
Volunteers will never be asked to do any other task which they have not opted to take on, or be requested to participate in any work program of the school against their will. The school provides accommodation for volunteers within the school and basic meals tree times a day.
Fees:
We provide a unique cultural immersion experience for our volunteers. To cover the costs of your stay, we charge a small fee of $5 per day, which includes:
- Access to clean drinking water
- Traditional meals prepared with love by our local community
Teaching Opportunities
We welcome volunteer teachers to assist our local educators. Please note that your role will be to support and supplement our teachers' efforts, not to replace them. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your skills, learn from our community, and make a positive impact on the lives of our students.
By joining us, you'll not only be contributing to the education and well-being of our community but also gaining valuable experience and unforgettable memories.
We look forward to hosting you!Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

The school is situated near many tourist attractions, such as Victoria Falls, which volunteers can explore during their time here. They can also get involved in village programs as they so desire.
