My next destination:
Spain - from Feb 2024 until Dec 2024 View allDescription
Hello lovely people,
thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Marek, 38 years old guy from Slovakia (Europe)
I decided to give Workaway another try because in the past it brought me some incredible valuable moments. I volunteered around New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, India and
Spain. The longest period of using Workaway and similar concepts was about 2 years in New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia. I did not realize in that period of time
the profound effect it would have on me. It definitelly changed the way I see the world now.
Living with one backpack and working only for accommodation and food for 2 years, it is a big thing especially being from a small town in Slovakia.
At some point life awakened my curiosity in yoga and meditation which I continue to practice daily. Looking back, I have always been a creative person although it is only in the past year that I have been growing strong in accepting this about me. Interestingly not ignoring my creativity, it shows up in all sorts of situations.
A few years ago I asked myself: what are the things that keep coming back to my life? The answer was working with wood and music. The guitar is a long term friend but it is only recently that I am so curious, determined and disciplined to find out if there is a way for me in music. This is not an easy task because I am not from an artistic family (although I think it runs in our blood but we learnt to suppress it) and sometimes it feels like I am trying to cut my way in a thick jungle with a wooden knife. But I would love to grow as a musician. Music and the guitar speaks to me in ways that I maybe don't fully understand yet.
Recently I finished a carpentry course because woodwork is also a great passion for me. But more in a artistic, creative way. During the pandemic I used the time to build an electric guitar which was pretty successful. I would love to study building musical instruments and gain experience in this field too but haven't figured that out yet either.
I am quite interested in reusing old material too, for example pallet wood which I used to build garden furniture. But I can help you with many projects as I tend to have "everything is possible" kind of thinking.
So what is it I offer?
- woodworking skills
- helping with English if that's what you want (I have a TEFL certificate and volunteering experience as an English teacher in Sulawesi, Indonesia)
- gardening (I studied a little bit of permaculture in Australia)
- some people say that I am good at explaining music theory so we can try that too (I love doing that)
- my full attention in every moment to all the details
At this stage of my life I prefer silence, I appreciate my alone time but if there is balance I am also a social person and love having interesting conversations. Lately I tend to get carried away talking about personal growth, emotional healing, biodecoding and so on. Now I am also in need of being in nature more than before. I am not a party person, I hardly drink alcohol, no smoking, no drugs. I am a vegetarian who tries to reinvent his life or rather find a way in life that is for me, that is mine and which makes sense to me. My cooking is simple and you should not feel discouraged by the fact that I don't eat meat.
I am attracted by simple life. I say simple life yes, but I do have my dreams.
Should you come across my profile don't hesitate to contact me if you wish and ask questions. I am hoping to attract similar people who can maybe relate to what I share here.
At the bottom you can read the reviews that I got from some previous hosts.
Maybe it is good to say that I spent a few years in Spain and Mallorca and I do have NIE and all the papers necessary to work in Spain legally. And I do consider living there and learn Spanish properly and I think trying Workaway again gives me an opportunity to explore different parts of Spain. However, if you feel we could be a good match and you are from another country, please send me a message anyway.
Have a wonderful day and maybe see you soonInterests
