I am a 24-year-old woman from Hungary. Currently, I am living in Finland, where I moved to pursue my MSc in Environmental Sciences. From August, I will begin my PhD in ecology. However, before that, I have the opportunity to do an internship in my home country at the University of Szeged. For this 2-month period, I am looking for a place to stay and meaningful projects to be involved in. My situation is a bit unusual because I would be able to work for and with you on the weekends, or early in the morning and later in the evening. During most workdays, I will be out in the field sampling flowers.

Farm life and self-sufficiency have become part of my identity in recent years. Besides my studies in Helsinki, I spend half of my time on a self-sufficient farm. In the future, I dream of starting my own farm or joining an eco-community.

I have had many amazing experiences with volunteering. In 2019, I took a gap year and worked on dairy farms, where my main tasks included milking cows, caring for various animals (horses, chickens, sheep, dogs, cats), cleaning, and gardening. During the summer of 2023, I also volunteered with friends on Finnish and Norwegian farms, where we fixed roofs, prepared firewood, weeded, and planted seedlings.

In addition to my profession in environmental protection, I am an experienced dog walker and dog sitter.

I have also been training kids to do orienteering for 3 years, which was one of the best jobs I've ever had. Coming from a big family, I have had many experiences with young kids and I am always greatful to spend time with them.

Learning about nature, reading, gardening, fishing, mushroom, herb & berry picking, wild camping, orienteering, and hiking are the things that make me the happiest.

Now that I am lucky enough to have the chance to return to Hungary for 2 months, I would like to spend it as meaningfully as possible.

24 éves vagyok, Magyarországon születtem és nőttem fel. Jelenleg Finnországban tanulok környezettudományt, augusztustól kezdve pedig ökológia doktorandusz leszek Németországban. Az a szerencse ért, hogy Júniusban és Júliusban kicsit visszalátogathatok Magyarországra, a Szegedi Tudományegyetemen leszek gyakornok. Erre a két hónapos időszakra keresek olyan helyet, ahol megszállhatok, és hasznos, az értékrendemmel egyező feladatokban vehetek részt. Helyzetem egy kicsit szokatlan, mert a legtöbb munkanapon a mezőkön fogok virágokat mintázni, ezért hétvégén, vagy hétköznapokon hajnalban és este tudnék beszállni a közös munkába.

A farmi lét és az önfenntartó életmód az elmúlt években részévé vált az identitásomnak. A Helsinki tanulmányaim mellett feleidőben egy vidéki önellátó farmon élek. Az az álmom, hogy a jövőben saját farmot alapítok, vagy egy ökoközösséghez csatlakozom.

Sok csodálatos tapasztalatom volt a önkénteskedéssel: 2019-ben érettségi után egy évig jártam a világot, nagyrészt tehenészetekben dolgoztam, ahol fő feladatom a tehénfejés, különböző állatok (lovak, csirkék, juhok, kutyák, macskák) gondozása, takarítás és kertészkedés volt. 2023 nyarán pár barátommal együtt finn és norvég farmokon önkénteskedtünk, ahol tetőket javítottunk, tűzifát készítettünk, gyomláltunk és palántákat ültettünk.

Amellett, hogy környezetkutatóként dolgozom, tapasztalt kutyasétáltató és kutya-örző vagyok.

Három évig tanítottam gyerekeket is tájfutni, ami az egyik legjobb munkám volt valaha, nagyon kedves feladat volt részt venni a fejlődésükben. Nagy családból származom, sok tapasztalatom volt fiatal gyerkőcökkel, és mindig hálás vagyok, ha időt tölthetek velük.

A természet tanulmányozása, olvasás, kertészkedés, horgászat, gombászás, gyógynövények és bogyók szedése, vadkempingezés, tájfutás és túrázás azok a dolgok, amik a legboldogabbá tesznek.

Várom, hogy 2 hónapra visszatérhessek Magyarországra, és hogy bevonódhassak otthoni projektekbe is.

I worked and lived on farms, so I knew many things, but there is so much more to learn!
I have a lot of experience with children, as I have a big family with cute restless kids.
I have orienteering coaching, competition organizing, and mapping experience.
Currently in Helsinki I'm also have a side job as a dog-sitter.
