Lee was perfect helper for me, he likes animals, he's a very good handyman and a good driver. It was very nice to have him around. And best of all, he was really motivated to help with whatever task came up and got himself involved in my life on the farm. Thank you Lee.

Akram was an absolute pleasure to have around. He was very hard-working and attentive to the task, always smiling and good fun. We achieved so much more than I had hoped for in the week that he was here, all work was done with enthusiasm and a positive outlook. He is also a very good cook and most happy to demonstrate his skills in Algerian cuisine. I would welcome Akram back at any time and would highly recommend him. He arrived as a stranger and left as a friend. Thank you Akram

The WorkAway was a life changing experience. For two weeks I worked at the school, it was short, but long enough to have a good time with the kids and volunteers and learn about the amazing work that the place and Rosmary does. The communication beforehand was clear and prepared me well for the project. Altough I recommend to stay longer than I did. It took me some time to adapt and find a good balance.

Lola was a hard working volunteer even when she find difficult deal whit bugs, that doesn’t stop her to make the garden beautiful whit her work. Thanks Lola for been part of the house, your energy and enthusiasm bring joy to the house. See you soon.

This was an amazing experience! In fact, I don't think I'll easily find something else like it. Captain David was knowledgeable, hospitable, understanding, and has some fantastic stories to share. The accommodations were rustic, but I wouldn't expect less on a 100-year-old wooden sailboat. I found fitting in with the eclectic community was easy, and I quickly found the role that was best suited to my work experience and skills. Captain David tries to find a place for everyone and considers artistic expression an essential part of the daily work. She was undergoing some significant repairs when I was there, but I hope I can return one day to see her in all her glory. I learned about sailing, food redemption, and a lot about myself. If you're in Norway and have the opportunity to stop by, you absolutely should - and tell Cap'n that I sent ya.

Sophie and Adrien were wonderful to have working away with us. They are lovely people and were most helpful in a wide range of jobs around the house and grounds. They did lots of work in the garden, helped with diy, painting, fixing the driveway, and general cleaning and clearing up outside. They were respectful of the house and helpful in everyday tasks such as cooking cleaning and other household tasks. They have a lovely way about them and we had some lovely chats and laughs. We highly recommend hosting Adrien and Sophie.

I had the most wonderful time in Lagos working at Solem☀️. The work included cleaning the apartments, doing the laundry and general cleaning of the common areas. As I came towards the end of the season Jonathan took the time to teach me and the other volunteers how to work in the bar and to do kayak deliveries. It was all fun and the shifts were not too long. Lagos is such a lovely city with the sea just 5 mins away and a wonderful little city center. Never got bored of this place despite staying for over a month🥰

We stayed with Nina, Sebastian and Mara for almost two weeks and by that time the place felt like a real home for us. We loved every meal and conversation we had with them. Picking our vegetables from their own garden was a real privilege and also Nina and their family opened our eyes for many vegetarian options which we will take into use! The guidance was very clear and the work itself was very simple. Being around peaceful horses made us total horse lovers and being with Mara and Lilou brought a lot of color into our everyday life which made a perfect balance. Again, thank you for everything! We are going to miss you very much and do hope we will meet again!

We spent three and a half weeks with Shannan and Collin. Most of our help was in the garden : planting fruit trees, harvesting vegetables, and general maintenance. Thank you to Shannan, whom we unfortunately didn’t see much as she was away traveling, but we really enjoyed the few days we got to spend with her, such a kind and pleasant person. A big thank you also to Collin for his warm welcome, for taking us to discover the surrounding areas, and for the great barbecue he prepared for us ! We also had the chance to meet Huayuning, another Workawayer, and were lucky to see her again later in Chicago. We really enjoyed the company of their two adorable dogs ! We had an excellent stay and keep wonderful memories of our time here. Thank you again for everything ! :)

Helga is passionate about gardens and cooking, and I profited very much from both. It’s very easy to work together with Helga - she’s so nice and knows a lot about growing and caring of plants. She gets my best recommendations.

Robinson and Ligia were my first Workaway hosts and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! They were both kind, generous, interesting, thoughtful and charming, and very easy to spend time with. They made sure to include me in several activities and invited friends over most days to enrich the experience. Monte Santo is a small town but the people have big hearts, and I was fortunate enough to get to know several of them through Robinson. I got to volunteer at a local non profit organisation, teaching English to underprivileged children which was an incredibly rewarding experience. We also spent time in their wonderful garden and travelled around the area, to a coffee farm and waterfalls. I spent time with interesting people and learnt some great life lessons from Robinson and Ligia. Altogether, this was a great experience and I can't be effusive enough in my praise! I'm certain our paths will cross again, but until then, best of luck to you both and a very strong recommendation for any other Workawayers viewing this profile!!

I hugely enjoyed my time at Lison and Martin's. It was honestly the best 10 days of my summer. The work was not hard. I felt included in the family's daily activities, and the card games helped me improve my French. They were very accommodating about my religious practices. I got to meet a unique breed of goat and learn their diet and habits. The walks with the goats were my favorite part of the day. Bella is hilarious when she puffs up her cheeks, and Pecho is a comic. The baby goat was absolutely adorable. I think by now he must be as large as Bella. I also enjoyed feeding and petting the rabbits. Thank you for the wonderful time!

I stayed with Dusan and Ivana for around 2 months, and from walking into their house on the first night, I already felt so welcome and at home. I had such a great time here and really enjoyed sharing with their work and life. We worked on many different projects, mostly helping out on different neighbours land and so I really got to see a lot of different styles of construction work, among which was a compost toilet and a roof for a goat barn. I also stayed to look after their dogs, cats and plants for a while, and wow they have amazing dogs, I was turned from a person keeping my distance from dogs to playing with them and letting them climb all over me. They also showed me a lot of Serbian culture, we went to 2 Slaava's (a family gathering/feast for different Saint days) and I got to try some really amazing foods and home made drinks. I feel like i did so much here and met so many people and got to explore a lot of the beautiful surrounding forests with Dusan on foraging walks. I will also definitely miss our nightly games of Catan.

Ilaria is truly a five-star Workawayer — open-minded, warm, and full of positive energy. From the first day, she fit perfectly into our family, showing great interest in our culture and genuine care for each of us. She was wonderful with my daughter despite the language barrier, and it was amazing to see how naturally she connected even with my teenage sons, engaging them in long, thoughtful conversations. She brought such a calm yet joyful energy into our home, creating a really nice atmosphere wherever she was. She quickly understood our daily rhythm and contributed with both initiative and sensitivity — completing every task perfectly and often noticing what needed to be done before being asked. She has a great sense of responsibility and always followed through on everything she started — with care, humor, and heart. Her ability to connect deeply with people of all ages made a real difference — she listens, understands, and makes everyone feel seen. We also appreciated how much she shared about her life in Canada; it was truly interesting to listen to her stories and experiences. It felt like a genuine cultural exchange. At the same time, she was independent and balanced, taking her own quiet moments when needed. Her openness, clarity, and emotional intelligence made her a true pleasure to have around. I honestly wish she could have stayed longer — she left a lasting, positive mark on our family, and any host will be lucky to welcome her.

Ethan was an excellent volunteer. Truly one of the best. He completed all tasks with a smile. He helped with cleaning/organizing and cooking. He’s an excellent cook! I would highly recommend him!

Idrani is a very kind and polite person, incredibly reliable and hardworking. She completed all the tasks we had agreed on and approached every job with great care and attention to detail. Although she had little prior experience in some areas of house and garden work, she was always open and eager to learn. She works at a slower pace, but very thoroughly, and you can always count on the quality of what she does. She integrated well into our family’s daily life and was a calm, pleasant presence in the house. Idrani is a rather quiet and introverted person, but when you take the time to sit down and talk with her, you quickly notice how observant, thoughtful, and genuinely interested she is — even if that’s not immediately obvious at first. If you are someone who enjoys constant conversation or lots of small talk, Idrani might not be the perfect fit. But for hosts who appreciate a reliable, considerate, and quietly attentive person, she is wonderful to have around. There is a unique blend in her personality — a mix of Indian warmth and Finnish calm — and it shows beautifully in the way she interacts and works.
