I stayed with Violeta for three weeks, was a nice experience. The apartment and the room were comfortable, and the location is very convenient — her bar is just one block away. The tasks at the bar are simple and clear: assisting behind the counter, serving tables, and interacting with customers. The atmosphere is lively, and it’s a good opportunity to meet locals and experience a bit of the local culture. Violeta is an experienced traveler, and you’ll hear many interesting stories from her journeys. If you’re looking to spend some time in a calmy city this can be a good option.

like the description says, Ciumara is a pretty wild place. which means it can be hard to get used to it, but it is also full of raw and strong energy, emanating both from the nature and the human community there. sleeping, waking up, walking, working, lying in the hammock, cooking and talking to people - any kind of activity doesn’t need an excuse to be conducted, it’s just natural and you enjoy it for how simple and beautiful it is. people don’t really bother you with questions - you are free to first settle in and share your story later if you feel like it. i’ve really enjoyed the meals consisting of homegrown food, accompanied by chatter and laughters. even not understanding much italian, it was a pleasure to listen, observe and become a part of this community. no one is counting work hours or telling you what to do here. i was mainly helping with woodwork and picking walnuts, also got a chance to join the guys to a festival where we were making pizzas I’m deeply grateful for having encountered this place and leaving it was not the easiest thing to do. my body even decided to get sick to stay there for a bit longer :) thank you beautiful Ciumara community for letting nature, yourself and others just be

Anne merged very well into our small universe here. If ever she and her two or four legged companions should happen by, they are always welcome. On the “evaluation” side of things Anne is thorough, practical, skilled, empathetic, open and adaptive, generous, willing and communicates well, you get the picture…..in short really good to have about the place. Thanks Anne. She also cooks a fab curry!

A lot has already been said in the previous feedbacks, and it's true: Mikki's place is georgous, the location is close to the beach, old town Dubrovnik, some hiking spots, nevertheless it's not to busy. The work is very fair and it's lots of different tasks. The appartment has everything you might need. the only thing really troubling us in our time at Mikki's were the Moskitos, but there is spays for that 😀 We were lucky enough to met Nikša and some of Mikki’s friends as well and we got to work together with another Workawayer, always having fun together. We found that the food allowance was always enough to get us through the week, especially with all the vegetables we could take from the garden. Mikki supported us very generously when we had a family emergency and made sure we were ok all the time, telling us interesting stories and sharing about the life she build in Croatia. We hope to come back one time!

This guy is truly a dream volunteer! Dani was, without a doubt, one of the best volunteers we’ve ever had. From the very first day, he showed himself to be deeply respectful, and kind. He brings a calm, positive, and generous presence that makes living and working together a real joy. On top of that, he’s incredibly skilled! It truly feels like he can do everything. Amazing woodwork Any fixings and repairing job Cooking delicious. Cleaning perfectly He works with great care, attention, and genuine love for what he does. We wholeheartedly hope to welcome him back one day! Dani, thank you so much for all your dedication to Madreselva. We love you and we wish you all the best thing of this world!! 💛

Staying with Sara was an exceptional experience. She welcomed me warmly and trusted me completely to take care of her house and guests while she was away. The work was varied and meaningful, with plenty of independence. Sara is an inspiring, generous host full of energy and great stories, and her places in Palermo and Lascari are beautiful and full of character. I felt valued and at home throughout my stay.

We had a lovely week with Iain and Chie and would highly recommend their Workaway. They were very kind, offering us sushi and a home-cooked meal during our stay (thank you so much!) We mainly helped Iain on their land (behind the main house and on their property in the mountains) clearing overgrown weeds and also preparing their AirBnB for the next set of guests. The lake is so peaceful and serene in the evenings which is perfect, but if you're looking for something livelier, it is only a short train away from Kyoto, Katata or Otsu (where we watched the boat races - so much fun!). Thank you for having us! Sophie & George

This was my first Workaway experience, and it was truly wonderful! I stayed with a warm and open family in Ayvalik and felt welcome from the very first moment. Every day we practiced German during breakfast, dinner, and while exploring the town. The parents are very motivated to learn German and learn more about life in Germany, while their son is about to start the upper level at a science high school. We cooked together, went on trips to the town and the sea, worked in the garden, and talked a lot about culture and life in Germany. The family is friendly, hospitable, and genuinely interested – I really enjoyed spending time with them. I can highly recommend this stay – a wonderful experience full of warmth, learning, and shared experiences.

Oh, what an experience! It will stay with me for life, I think. The kids, their caregivers, the animals — they all stole my heart. So did the nature, the vast savannas, the sunsets. I know I have to come back to this country. Thank you, Nicole! Hopefully I’ll see you again.

During the week that we were here, we joined for two briding trips and acted as "clients" (ie ourselves) and asked many questions for the students to practice their guiding skills. We learnt so much about birds and other animals in their own natural environments. The students were really friendly, knowledgable and helpful. It was inspiring to view Arusha's natural landscape through the students who are so passionate about sharing their beautiful home to visitors. Huddled around the warm glow of the campfire in the weekly campfire circle, students were invited to share stories close to their heart - stories from childhood, challenges they have had to overcome, traditions that are important to their tribes and many more. It was a chance for them to practice speaking in English and for us to learn about about the culture. We stayed at the place where students can gather to just relax and chit chat. Everyone welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality, sharing with us the various local traditions and cultures. We even learnt how to make Ugali. No single night is ever the same - some nights are spent just talking about the day, some nights spent in laughter over spontaneous games and other nights spent singing dancing and even a stand up comedy show. We also went on a day trip with other volunteers to Enduimet where we were able to walk in the Safari. We got up close to the animals and had fun trying to identify the different tracks of the animals. Thank you to everyone here for this experience for letting us be a part of your lives for this short period. It truly has been an enriching and unforgettable experience.

Gela is truly an amazing human being. She is intelligent, charismatic and has the best sense of humour. 😊 She brightened up our lives from the moment she arrived and integrated to our family life effortlessly. She went above and beyond with any tasks we had for her. She was attentive, patient and friendly with our daughter Emilia. Together they danced, sang, studied math, played and baked cookies, she and Emilia quickly formed a special bond, Gela was the most helpful around the house, tidying up the kitchen, cooking fragrant food ;) organizing wardrobe items, taking the dogs for long walks, etc, she even stepped in with bigger projects like helping us painting the house. Always with an outstanding work ethic and a big smile! We all loved getting to know Gela, and she really changed our lives, opening our hearts and minds to see the world through a different lens. Together we played Jenga, sang karaoke, went camping, to the Theatre, to concerts and a hockey match, we spent days by the beach and biked around Stanley Park. We had truly the best time ever, we laughed until our cheeks and bellies hurt and learned to not take anything for granted. Gela reminded us of what it means to live life fully and we will always cherish the memories of her stay with us. Until next time!

This was my first Workaway and I only stayed for a week, but I couldn't of asked for a better experience! All the staff were super welcoming and the hostel itself is very clean and comfortable. I met some other great volunteers and the housekeeping duties were clear and manageable. George Town is a lovely place with a brilliant food scene, and I would highly recommend this Workaway to anyone visiting Malaysia!

Thank you so much, Bekah and Richter, for the wonderful time together and the great help with our passion project! You have made a huge contribution to ensuring that we now have our firewood for the winter in a dry place. Cooking together, hearing your fascinating stories about your homeland Canada, and enjoying a beautiful hike together made us feel as if we had a weekend with old friends. In our little home, you were very respectful, attentive, and tidy guests, thank you so much! We would love to welcome you back anytime and we can only recommend everyone to have the two of you stay with them. Have a nice trip, all the best, and hope to see you again soon in Oy oder maybe in Canada!

I had a really great time staying with Michael. The house is very relaxing and peaceful. Michael was very caring he prepared delicious dinners, took care of the groceries, and even drove me to the train station so I could explore the area. He was also a great advisor on many different topics, and we shared a lot of quality moments together, watching Australia football games. I truly felt like a part of the household. Thank you so much for hosting me and taking such good care of me!

Hosting Ayumi was such a pleasure. She is a happy soul and always with a very positive attitude. Her English is excellent and she is easy to communicate with. Dinner time was always fun and well conversed. Our large compost bin was attacked with vigor and was full in no time eliminating a mountain of weeds from our veggie patch. Best of all was her baking, the cheese cake, the lemon cake and the avocado pudding were all so so so delicious. Better than any bought one. Tidying up after dinner was timely and meticulously. It was really nice and such a positive experience to have Ayumi around.
