I had such a lovely experience staying with Katrina, Kristos and Zephyr! Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming — I felt at home right from the start. I learned a lot about gardening and permaculture, and really enjoyed the long, interesting conversations we had. They were so helpful and understanding, even accepting me at the very last minute, which I truly appreciated. The place is quite remote, but if you don’t mind that, it’s a wonderful opportunity to experience life in a unique and peaceful environment. The surrounding nature is absolutely beautiful too. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn, connect, and enjoy a genuine off-the-grid experience.

I spent a lovely week with Mya, Olivier, Sina, and Luna (oh, and Sauge too!). Their property is very idyllic - they are perched on a wooden lot that looks over the Saguenay River. I was able to really connect with nature and appreciate the calmness and quietness of Quebec. Mya & Olivier were amazing to work with each day and I loved learning about their way of life and to see their plans for their property. We aligned well on our views of society and I was inspired by their co-operative visions and ideals. For meals, we had lunch and dinner together each day, eating very healthy and locally, while I made my own breakfast and coffee at my place (although sometimes we shared breakfast too). I appreciated the balance of social time and individual time :) We spent some of our free time at the beach too, which I LOVED. We spoke in a mixture of French and English - I really appreciated the opportunity to improve my French and learn some new slang! I would highly recommend this place - cheers from Toronto

If you love dogs and you are interested in spending time on the island of Shikoku in Japan, I would definitely recommend this. I volunteered here for 3 weeks in September 2025 - the work was great, getting to walk dogs every day, although some of them are very nervous and require a lot of patience, but it is very rewarding to see the dogs slowly gain trust with you. The volunteer housing was also ideal for what I needed and provided you work together with the other volunteers to keep it clean, there should be no problems. On days off I was able to explore parts of Tokushima and there is great scenery all around. The hosts, Susan and Hitoshi, the staff and other volunteers are all very dedicated and passionate to providing good care for the animals - thank you for having me and I miss seeing those dogs every day! All the best with the future.

Online university students, Eugin and Arnau happily discovered Ger home lifestyle and cultural day program for children in 4-6th Oct., 2025. We were glad to introduce personal bowl culture and licking healthy habit , because they decided to have personal copper bowls.

Kiu has stayed with us only one week and we regret she couldn't stayed longer. That week was a great fun. Kiu helped us with children and we had many interesting conversations. What hit us mosty was her calm personality and always present smile on her face.

We had a very positive experience hosting Luca for his a stay with us over the summer months. Luca was great company and always a pleasure to spend time around, the kids always enjoyed the time that was spent together. Luca was a very tidy house guest and felt very trustworthy when we left him at time looking after our home and pets. Always happy and willing to take on any tasks that were asked with a very positive attitude and always very punctual and reliable with the hours and expectations. We wish him all the best in the future and hope to keep in touch.

Juan fue muy acogedor y amable. Cuando llegamos a casa, nos preparó una cena deliciosa con comida típica española. Su padre es adorable, al igual que sus animales. El perfil de Juan está completamente desactualizado; la casa no se parece a las fotos, no hay piscina y los animales del perfil tampoco existen en el lugar donde fui; probablemente esas fotos sean demasiado antiguas. Además, el acuerdo —dos días libres por cinco días de trabajo— se rompió. Juan quería darnos solo un día libre, alegando que no era un Airbnb. Lo malo de la experiencia fue que habíamos acordado pintar y hacer las tareas del hogar, pero tuvimos que desherbar mucho con una azada y luego recoger la hierba cortada y llevarla a otro lugar con una carretilla. Mido 1,57 m y no tengo la fuerza física para este tipo de trabajo. Después de cinco días de trabajo, le pedimos permiso y se negó. Nuestras manos ya tenían heridas abiertas y un dolor muscular extremo. ¡Sobre todo, esta experiencia fue enriquecedora! --------------------------------------------------------- Juan was very welcoming and friendly. When we arrived at the house, he made a delicious dinner of typical Spanish food. His father is adorable, as are his animals. Juan's profile is 100% out of date; the house doesn't look like the photos, there's no pool, and the animals in the profile don't exist where I went either; those photos are probably too old. Furthermore, the agreement—two days off for five days of work—was broken. Juan wanted to give us only one day off, claiming it wasn't an Airbnb. The downside of the experience was that we had agreed to do painting and housework, but we had to weed a lot with a hand hoe and then pick up the cut grass and carry it elsewhere with a wheelbarrow. I'm a 5'2" woman and don't have the physical strength for this type of work. After five days of work, we asked for our time off, and he refused. Our hands already had open wounds and extreme muscle pain. Above all, this experience was enriching!

I had a truly memorable and purposeful stay here, where I was able, through the helper role, to contribute and support the work and services provided at Bayview, as well as engage with and experience 'Haida Gwaii life'. The host, Flavien, is truly brilliant in every way. A skillful communicator and leader, welcoming, involving and positive. He is supportive towards all his helpers and gives time and space both proactively and in a responsive way. He creates an environment of trust and enjoyment. There is plenty to do for those who show initiative and get things done. This role is in a tiny, remote place. Helpers have the chance to take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to connect with nature in and around Sandspit, and the islands that form Haida Gwaii, alongside day to day actions. Helping at Bayview will provide you with an excellent, purposeful workaway experience.

My first Workaway experience and I couldn’t have chosen better place! This place is truly unique — despite of the limited living conditions, the level of care provided by Tori, Quinqin and the entire team at the sanctuary is incredible. It brought me so much peace to see how well the horses are cared for, whether they are living at the stable or just visiting for veterinary help or simply to complete their bathing routine. During my two-week stay, I learned so much about horses and their behavior. I absolutely loved the morning walks with the horses and guests, and I truly enjoyed the afternoon duties. Time flew by while grooming and feeding the horses — it was such a meaningful way to connect with them❤️ We had plenty of free time to enjoy and learn about Island life. Gili Trawangan itself is a stunning place, full of marine life, beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife if you're up for it. For those who prefer quieter evenings, there’s an open-air cinema every night. One of my favorite activities, apart from snorkeling, was biking around the island — it made me feel free and happy! I’m incredibly grateful to have done my volunteer work at this sanctuary. I had an amazing time and felt so lucky to meet such wonderful people who truly care about animals❤️ I only wish I could have stayed longer! Hopefully, I’ll have the chance to return in the future :)

I stayed with Astrid for a week at the farm before going with her to Sortland. When I first arrived off the local school bus, Astrid awaited me with the biggest smile and the most welcoming hug. It felt like coming home. Which, after almost a year of travel, was exactly what I needed. The view from Skarstein is indescribably beautiful, one of the most breathtaking views i've had the privilege of witnessing. It was on the off season so my time there was a lot quieter than usual, it embodied the true meaning of peaceful. Astrid is very keen on immersing you in Norwegian culture, from making traditional food, to explaining history, and introducing you to the neighbours (who may take you dancing and apple picking). What a highlight of my journey. A last minute decision to go to Skarstein turned out to be one of the best i'd made in my life. Astrid is an unbelievably kind, warm, and spirited person who I am so glad to have spent time with. I am sure I will be back to this magical place. Lots of love from Canada, Maddy.

Ich verbrachte zwei Wochen bei Francesca und habe diese Zeit sehr genossen. Die Arbeit war hauptsächlich im Garten und Haus und nicht zu anstrengend. Nach getaner Arbeit tranken wir meist noch eine Tasse Cappuccino und tauschten uns aus. Francesca ist sehr unternehmungslustig und hat mir viele Tipps gegeben was die Umgebung betrifft. An einem Tag haben wir sogar einen Ausflug unternommen. Ich hatte meinen eigenen Schlaf- und Wohnbereich wo ich mich jederzeit zurück ziehen konnte. Ich kann Francesca auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

My stay with Chiara was unforgettable! Not only are they amazing hosts, but they also make your time there in the south some of the most joyful moments of your life. Truly a wonderful experience!

We had a great month with Cristóbal, it was a pleasure to know him and to live with him! He helped us a lot with harvesting the almonds, the garden and the seeds of course 🤩! Our children have also a lot of fun playing ping pong with him in his free time! And most of all, we have now a new friend living on Aguilas! oh yeahhh!

Our experience with Lara and Andri was excellent, couldn't be better, both socially, living in our family, work wise and the skills they both possess. We had a great time together and we felt they were really family members after several months staying in our home and working and living together. They were also interested in learning Norwegian culture and language and quick learners. Very open minded persons. The great and professional help in the garden as well as in the kitchen was highly appreciated but most of all the good chats around the table and always contributing to a good atmosphere in the home. We will give them our best recommendations.

I joined Igor, Aigul and their team at this place on a whim while travelling in Armenia with my partner. We'd only planned to stay there for a week, but almost immediately knew we wanted to stay longer, which we did. This Place has incredible views and is a great place to learn more about the tradition of Banya. The work is very fair and hardly feels like work at all, as you have a lot of freedom. One of my favourite things about Igor is his attitude to trying new ideas, which can be summed up in just 2 words - 'why not'! We were there during harvest season, so harvested rosehip, capers and lots of almonds! We also helped out with a little bit of cooking for guests, which was great because we were free to get creative. The best part of our stay at Hoja, though, was the team. We were treated with kindness and warmth from everyone there, and we honestly have a special place in our heart for each one of them now. We had great times making music and sharing jokes, and we made friends that we hope to never lose contact with!

This is to acknowledge and appreciate the valuable service rendered by Miss Ottavia as a volunteer teacher at School, Morshing (KRS family) during the month of August 2024. Her way of teaching was truly exceptional. She demonstrated great patience, creativity, and dedication in engaging with our students. Her teaching methods were simple yet highly effective, making learning enjoyable for the children. She showed genuine love and care towards the students, and the children were very fond of her. We sincerely thank Miss Ottavia for her contribution to our school and the positive impact she made on our students’ learning experience. Scott and Tina were absolutely amazing. They were at my place for over 5 weeks, and I was very sorry to see them go. For three weeks of that time I was away and they took the best care of my home, and most importantly my cats, the pets and the feral ones, and my Koi. Tina did an impeccable job painting, gardening, cleaning and refurbishing my patio. Scott built an amazing addition to my shed out of pallets and reorganised all my sheds. They both did above and beyond, everything on my wish list, and helped me enormously get my place ready for winter. Additionally, they were great company, a lot of fun to hang out with, cooked some delicious meals, and played some great music. It was delight to have them here, they were a Godsend, and if they come to your place you will be very lucky.

Esteban stayed with us from July to October and supported us on our organic farm — and honestly, we couldn’t have wished for a better helper. He is incredibly hardworking, reliable, and brings such a calm and mindful energy with him. It was super easy to get along with him — he integrated effortlessly into our daily life, followed all the house rules perfectly, and was always respectful and kind. We were really impressed by how well he managed to organize his online work alongside farm life. Esteban helped us so much with all kinds of tasks, always with dedication and quiet strength. We also had a beautiful cultural exchange — we loved hearing his stories about Colombia and sharing ours in return. We are truly grateful for everything he did here and wish him all the best for his journey. We can warmly recommend him to anyone who gets the chance to host him — you’ll be lucky to have him! And of course, we’d be very happy to welcome him back anytime.
