I spend 4 incredible days at Everest Homestay in the beautiful region. This experience totally enriched my life. I hope that the future workawayers will enjoy it as much as I did. As stated in other feedbacks, reaching the venue itself (meaning the trip from Kathmandu) is not easy (a tip: when you arrive to Banepa from Kathmandu, ask a police officer (easiest way) for the bus stop. Once there let the driver or his entourage see on maps where you have to be). Nevertheless, it is an adventure that’s totally worth, as in exchange for your work you will receive the most beautiful views of the Himalayas (Everest included), fantastic conversations with Chit about a natural lifestyle/cooking/ medicine and interesting chats with Mim about the Nepali/Tamang language, entrepreneurship and way of life. Thank you to Chit & Mim for the delicious food, teas and drinks (you certainly have to try the relaxing Tongba 😉) and all the people I met here. Hope to see you again. Lhasooo 🙏🏽

Ah yes, Vincent "the Nose." A man of great foosball/table soccer/babyfoot skills (one of the very few people to beat me on my own table). A man of strange wood notions. (Nose-tions.) It was fun to have another weird idealist in the house. He brought a fun energy and a lot of good central European food that kept the house going, and we now have a giant wooden nose that I feel like is going to be a strange cultural icon here! I certainly recommend Vincent for anyone looking to craft - any perhaps communal idealists like myself - and anyone young at heart.

Me and my friend Konstantina spent two amazing weeks in the valley of Seich! Rémi and Catalina are great hosts; they welcomed us open-heartedly in their family and made sure we felt at ease and well-taken care of from the very beginning! We shared very authentic moments with them, along with their two lovely children Anais and Gael, for which we are grateful. Their cafe/epicerie serves as a meeting point for the people of Seich and of nearby villages, so it enabled us to integrate a bit with the community, meet locals, chat and have fun with them, from warm conversations to barbeque nights and pétanque games. We also seized the opportunity to read french books from the diverse selection Rémi and Catalina offer in their library. In terms of working, we worked 5 times a week, for 4- 5 hours in the morning and mainly engaged with gardening tasks and when the weather was rainy we helped with indoor projects (painting furniture, polishing the floor etc). Nothing too difficult and Rémi always offers guidance as needed. Seich is a quiet and peaceful place, emerged in nature, so it is perfect for people who want to relax and avoid the hussle and stress of bigger cities for a while. In addition, Rémi and Catalina balance gracefully between respecting your free time and giving you opportunities to spend time with them and take part in their family activities and everyday life. The accommodation at the wooden studio (gite) was also wonderful; comfortable, with all the necessary amenities and very cosy! So, once again, Catalina, Rémi, Gael and Anais, thank you very very much for all these lovely moments we shared! We wish you all the best and hope to see you again sometime :))

Victoria was an anchor in the roster who kept the house running smoothly - a managing presence especially in the hours when I was not around. This is the kind of support that I feel many people may undervalue - you can have people with 'specialized skills' who are capable of moving forward some very specific projects, but a Victoria is a force multiplier. We deeply appreciate that.

We only had Michael for a few days, but he was respectful of the house rules, helpful in the areas where he had skills, and supported the group by cooking from time to time. We got along well and we appreciate his time and effort up here in Nagano.

Happy to be leaving a feedback for Claire; she was extremely helpful and independent, and lent her skills to complete a few key projects! Her woodworking skills helped to upgrade a serious eyesore in a major part of the house and to open up more space for communal conversation. These things alone are worthy of gratitude! In addition to that, she was a good and respectful housemate, equipped with plenty of skills on her own, and independent enough to not need supervising every hour! We are exceedingly grateful to her and we would be happy to host her anytime.

日本語は英語の下 Happy to be leaving a feedback for Yuiko; she brought a wonderful energy to the house, and left us with one of the most precious pieces of art we have. She was an anchor Workawayer who was supportive in all areas, being extremely helpful as a driver and a Japanese speaker, and we would gladly have her back anytime! (And we hope to have her back and for our connection to continue over the years!) For Workawayers, we generally value curiosity (esp. the desire to learn skills), the ability to get along with others (ability to live in shared spaces and get along), and the ability to communicate (especially if they feel over or underutilized and if they have needs we don't perceive). Yuiko had all of these things satisfactorily. Plus, once the vision was established and we knew what we wanted to do, was very independent and capable of proceeding with her project without too much supervision. Yuiko was the kind of Workawayer who was able to handle so many different things. We are exceedingly grateful to her and we would be happy to host her anytime.

Nell is a reliable and friendly girl. We spent about a month with her, and both the kids and we got along very well. Our kids are a bit demanding and sometimes gave Nell a hard time. Otherwise, everything was fine. I highly recommend Nell.

Happy to be leaving a feedback for Sumner; he was eminently helpful and supportive, and we got to know each other rather well—the latter being something I cannot say for all Workawayers or others who pass through the house. For Workawayers, we generally value curiosity (esp. the desire to learn skills), the ability to get along with others (ability to live in shared spaces and get along), and the ability to communicate (especially if they feel over or underutilized and if they have needs we don't perceive). Sumner was direct and well-informed, but also friendly. That's a great combination when you want to get something done. He taught me a fair few things and I hope that our connection continues over the years as he returns to Japan now and again. Plus, his experience in communal living was clearly of value in keeping the peace around the house.

The experience with Agustin and Sylvie was super. We spent great days with them, learning a huge number of things, tasting great dishes and chilling together with interesting talks and cultural exchange. The location was comfortable and embedded in a natural place; we had a lot of fun and hard work during the days together. We really appreciate their kindness with us. We absolutely recommend their place work a wonderful Workaway experience.

Charlotte was a great guest in our family. She helped a lot with new ideas to promote our tours and besides that she was very involved with all daily activities. We are very grateful for all her time she spend with us. She also did a few days tour with me where she was very keen to learn about Moroccan culture and landscapes. I strongly recommend her to any host. Thank you for visiting and hope to see you again someday.

During the time we shared with Stefano, he was very attentive and willing to show me around this beautiful place, being in the middle of the forest filled me with peace and tranquility. The house is in a beautiful area where we were able to pick mushrooms and enjoy the fresh air I felt very welcomed and enjoyed being with the animals and taking care of the house, for people who like to be surrounded by nature, this is a great place to enjoy the silence and the forest.

Very pleased to be leaving Mai's first feedback on Workaway, and it is positive without qualification. We were super happy to be supporting someone with Japanese heritage coming back to Japan (and will continue to do so!), and Mai in turn was incredibly helpful and thoughtful. For Workawayers, we generally value curiosity (esp. the desire to learn skills), the ability to get along with others (ability to live in shared spaces and get along), and the ability to communicate (especially if they feel over or underutilized and if they have needs we don't perceive). Mai was great at all of this, and on top of that was able to both drive and speak Japanese, which are two HUGE elements that normally end up at my feet. She's a hell of a good kid and we were glad to have her, and look forward to her learning and growing and becoming a whole awesome person.
