Mary, Thank you for being such a solid, kind, and quiet unstoppable force around here. Somehow, while the rest of us were still figuring out what day it was, you’d already fed the goats and rabbits, cleared the road, prepped the garden for winter, cleaned up after the animals, and washed every dish before we could even blink. We never actually saw you do the dishes… they just mysteriously stayed clean. Your one (unfortunately, just one) beautiful loaf of bread has already gone down in history — and probably raised the bar impossibly high for any future visitors. But more than all the practical help — which was incredible — it was just you that made the difference. Your calm presence, your sense of humour, the stories, the chats in between tasks (or during them) fit absolutely perfectly into our place. The honest and thoughtful way you shared your experiences will also really stick with us. Thank you for being a powerhouse of help, humor, and heart. Don’t be surprised if the dogs already started a petition to bring you back. You’ll be missed by us all and you’re welcome to come back! I just had the best time at Briggy’s and her family’s place! It was amazing how easily they made me feel like part of the family — everyone was so kind and welcoming. I felt like part of the family, even though I “only” spent two weeks there. Their place is also amazing and so beautiful so it was easy spending time here. My tasks included collecting eggs, cleaning and sorting them, helping with baking, occasionally making dinner, picking strawberries and tomatoes, and assisting at the farmers market. Everything was really fun and enjoyable, especially going to the market and selling all the amazing treats Briggy bakes. I was also allowed to go out with the bike and explore the area and had enough time I could spend on my own. I can highly recommend coming here!

My experience here with Anwar has been really enriching! Anwar and I get along really well with shared humour and many conversations about love and life. Of course, the baby and kids are wonderful. I wish I’d already learned Italian before so that I could bond more easily with them, but we still find ways to communicate and laugh together. Anwar has quite the library of books for a small flat and has many great recommendations based on what we talk about. I’m someone that often has difficulty communicating my needs, but once I opened up about it to Anwar she was very understanding and eager to find what works for both of us. Being a single mum, Anwar needs more help than I imagine how it is for other families, but I found this to make the work I’ve been doing more fulfilling – doing this for someone that really needs it. Torino has been the perfect backdrop to all of this. The flat is in a great location as a quieter part of town with local businesses, but still well connected to town centre. I’ve felt very at home here!

Martina is a pleasure to be around and a very helpful workawayer. She manages her tasks in a very strategic and conscientious manner and thus can work well independently. Also, her bilingual language skills are a great help in communicating with locals when working on tasks in a larger and multilingual team.

Thank you so much for wonderful and amazing 3.5weeks! This has become the most precious experience of my life. Barbara's expression showed the love she had and how much her parents cherished her. I looked forward to seeing Barbara's face every morning, and I miss her now, the way she smiles at me. I have met countless people from all over the world, but this is the first time I have met such wonderful, loving and awsome people. I miss you so much.... and see you very very soon.

Hana & Aneta were simply marvelous - intelligent, strategic and conscientious in handling assigned tasks and thus they were a great help in the house and in the garden. Plus, they are a pleasure to be around. Their cooking is a dream and now I really miss their Czech and International cuisine.

I had a fantastic stay at Sunny's place in Lawrencetown! The host was very supportive and gave me tons of recommendations and tips for my time in Canada (travelling, banking, phone providers, etc.) The location of the house up on a small hill was brilliant and allowed to watch beautiful sunsets and was within walking distance to the Lawrencetown Beach (ca. 15 minutes) and a cafe (ca. 25 minutes). It would be ideal to arrive with a car though, as this area is quite remote otherwise and has no public transportation... Ubers can get quite expensive. The work was varied and depended on my skill set and the priorities of the Workaway host. Outside and Gardening tasks were mixed with indoor renovation work, organising and tidying. Some days, I was taking care of the animals as well (giving medicine, feeding the animals, cleaning the cat litter, walking the dog, etc.). Therefore, it never got boring. It was a good mix and the hours were quite flexible. Thanks so much for a great first Workaway experience and for showing me how you live and introducing me to your community. All the best, Sunny!

I had such an amazing time staying with Sica and her lovely family in Indonesia🤗 Even though I was only there for a short time, they made me feel super welcome from the very beginning. They even took me to see the tea plantations, which was such a cool experience! Teaching English to the kids was the best part, they were so sweet, funny, and eager to learn. I loved spending time with them and really enjoyed every class. Thanks again to Sica and her family for everything! I totally recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get a real taste of local life and meet some wonderful people🫶🏻✨

It was absolutely wonderful to host Anoushka and LeaElla! They're always ready to lend a hand and they bring with them great energy and fun music. Staying at Nana’s place was my first Workaway experience, and it was great! I stayed for one month in Šumadija, a beautiful and peaceful region. I mainly helped by bringing and cutting firewood from the forest, doing some repairs around the house, playing with Nana’s children, watering the garden, and taking care of the horses. I learned a lot about horses from Nana’s sister, Kaja, for which I am very grateful. During my stay, I had a wonderful opportunity to be fully present in the moment, which was very healing for my mind. Nana is a very kind and open-hearted person. She invited me to Sunday Mass in a nearby church, which was a deeply touching experience for me, especially the singing during the Agape after the service. I warmly recommend staying at Nana’s place to everyone. Thank you kindly for a wonderful experience Nana <3

Yang and Noel are super sweet young women, diligent and very respectful, kind and numerous. All task they were given they managed to finish great even though some things were the first time for them (DIY...). We want to point out that the even were not afraid to split firewood with the big machine which was also the very first time for them! We are clapping hand for Yang and Yoelle! Always welcome back!

C'était ma deuxième expérience Workaway, et je dois dire que c'était de loin bien mieux que ce à quoi je m'attendais... et mes attentes étaient déjà assez élevées. La vie quotidiene à l'Abbaye est intense et, a la mème fois, detendue: d'habitude, on travaille 6 jours par semaine. Il y a deux quarts de travail : un le matin et un l'après-midi, de trois heures chacun, mais on ne travaille pas tous les quarts de travail. Les travaux sont variés et vont de l'aide à la cueillette des pommes au verger, à l'aide aux tâches ménagères ou en cuisine. D'après mon expérience, travailler à l'Abbaye a toujours été enrichissant et les membres de la Communauté étaient toujours désireux d'aider et de nous faire sentir, nous les Workawayers, membres de la Communauté. À mon avis, il est conseillé d'avoir un bon niveau de français, afin de pouvoir profiter pleinement de l'échange culturel: j'ai eu des conversations très intéressantes et fructueuses avec les membres de la Communauté. Il y a beaucoup de sagesse et de savoir spirituelle dans cet endroit. Je ne remercierai jamais assez la Communauté et mes amis Workawayers pour l'expérience incroyable et magnifique que j'ai vécue là-bas. Que Dieu vous bénisse tous et vous garde!

It was our first Workaway experience, and it was perfect! Barbara is very kind and caring, and it was a real pleasure to help her in this beautiful valley. We had free time in the afternoons, and she let us ride her horses — it was a great opportunity to learn more. We felt very comfortable in her home. Barbara clearly showed us all the tasks we had to do, and we worked about 25 hours per week, so we could organize our schedule as we wished. Thank you, Barbara!

Hello everyone! We hosted Miss Carine! Who is from France,Monpele She is quite a good woman, very good mannered, intelligent, sociable, generous, well educated and beautiful! She can speak French, English, Phillipinese . We speak a lot about traveling! She has a good experience for travel. She traveled a lot, about 25 countries! By the way she is a very good cook! She cooked us very delicious meals! We really enjoyed! So, I highly recommend you such a wonderful Workawayer, If you host her, you will be happy! Good bye!

I had my first workaway here and am so glad I did! If you love mountains and animals it is the perfect spot. The work can be long and hard with lots of walking up and down steep slopes, collecting hay and fencing alpine fields. Even as an experienced hiker the altitude can make this quite tiring. Because it’s farm work, it can be hard to predict the schedule but if you're flexible, you'll still have time to relax around various tasks. Just be ready to get up and go if there’s an emergency! Dea’s animals are the friendliest, kindest souls and if you spend the time with them will be close friends. I’ll never forget all the time I spent sitting with the dogs watching the sunset over the alps. The apartment for the workawayers is comfortable (even in the August heat!) and the neighbours were all lovely. If you speak German or French it’s definitely helpful as apart from Dea there’s not much English. You’ll go down to the valley floor for tasks occasionally and food and laundry. There are two large supermarkets in town so you can eat well, although Switzerland is expensive (and closed on Sunday!) but if you’re frugal it’s not hard to stay in the allowance. Thank you Dea for the experience and teaching a city boy the farm life.

The three-week experience with Marie and Carlo was pleasant and positive. They are a harmonious young couple, polite and clean. They completed all the tasks requested with commitment and dedication, striving to acquire skills. Our first request was to walk the dogs in the fields twice a day and also feed the two cats while we were away. They love pets and have pampered them a lot. They appreciate a well-defined work schedule and complete it promptly. We painted an old big entrance door and some wood en shutters, then also took care of the garden that needed maintenance after the dry summer. For a first Work Away experience, I'd say they nailed it. Have a great life guys, we hope to have you back with us!

My experience in Mexico was truly unforgettable. I spent two months with this wonderful family, and from the very first day, I felt at home. They welcomed me with so much kindness and generosity that it didn’t take long before I felt like part of the family. They were always there for me whenever I needed something, always making sure I was comfortable and happy. But what made this experience so special were the children. They are honestly some of the most amazing kids I’ve ever met – so sweet, smart, funny, and full of life. Every day with them was a joy. We played, laughed, did creative activities together, and I learned so much from their beautiful energy and their way of seeing the world. They’re the kind of children who make you smile just by being around them. I miss them already. I was very well accommodated too, everything was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The city itself was beautiful – colorful, lively, and full of warmth. I loved exploring it, getting to know local life, and just enjoying the atmosphere. Even though it was my first Workaway, I honestly couldn’t have hoped for a better one. These two months were filled with joy, laughter, discovery, and genuine connections. It’s an experience that will stay with me for a long time, and I’ll always be grateful for the love and trust this family shared with me. If you’re lucky enough to have the chance to stay with them, don’t think twice – you’ll live something truly special.

Damaso y su compañera Bárbara me recibieron en su casa de manera muy amable. Compartíamos buenos momentos, comíamos juntos y los tiempos libres coordinábamos para recorrer el lugar. Por lo general trabajábamos desde la mañana hasta la hora del almuerzo. Teníamos trabajo de huerta y mantenimiento general. Me perdí la experiencia de trabajar con los olivos porque me tuve que ir antes de eso. Los tiempos libres se puede recorrer alrededores del Castel que tienen unas vistas increíbles de verdad. Se pueden hacer trekking por algunos senderos y aprovechar a recorrer otros pueblitos muy pintorescos. Me llevo una linda experiencia del lugar y las personas con las que compartimos.
