Thank you very much Zilpah and May for having me at your fantastic school. The work that you're doing is totally inspirational. I stayed at the school for just over 2 weeks and had to leave unfortunately due to family matters. The school is a great place to volunteer. I did some coaching with some Staff. Plus, I helped particularly with the PP2 class of preschool children helping the teacher where she needed assistance. I am not a teacher, so teaching was not one of the things that I did, but working with Teacher Lucy to support the little children and also working with Teacher Vivian with Grade 1s who were such fun 🤩, was the highlight of my volunteering here in Homa Bay. I was very well-fed from Mondays to Fridays and I catered for myself at the weekends. I found that weekends were rather lonely as I was often alone on the premises. It was quite hot🥵 and I was arriving from the Netherlands, so just a heads up for anyone planning to visit at the end of the year. A big thanks to all the staff. They were such a pleasure to work with.

When I booked Emma to come, I didn't know I had hit the jackpot, but I definately had. She spent around 3 months at our place. She is a very respectful, fun, easygoing young woman. She was always positive and up for any challenge. Our little girls loved her from day one. She cleaned, cooked, baked, babysat, mowed the lawn, picked up groceries and much more. She took initiative, so I didn't have to ask her to do everything - she cleaned the kitchen after dinner, tidied the children's toy room, hung laundry... She is a sweet, kind and understanding person, and extremely polite. We would welcome her back anyday and recommend her for other hosts.

We hosted Laura for about a month. From the very first video call interview, it was clear that she had a bright and positive personality. When she actually arrived and we started living together, that impression was not only correct but exceeded our expectations, and we were able to spend truly wonderful time with her. Laura is very charming, always smiling, and has a presence that brightens those around her. She got along exceptionally well with our eldest daughter, Miku, and the two quickly became close. They spent long hours playing “cops and robbers” together in the garden or at the park, laughing and enjoying themselves. Their relationship felt just like that of sisters with an age difference. We also created many special memories with Laura. We went grape picking, visited a pig café to interact with cute animals, and enjoyed local festival stalls. At a baseball game, she quickly adapted to the unique Japanese cheering style and enjoyed the experience. We also went to a Wagyu restaurant, where she showed genuine interest in Japanese cuisine. In every situation, she truly enjoyed herself, and seeing her laugh and play with the children made us, as a family, feel incredibly happy. Laura is very polite and considerate of those around her. She completed every task we asked of her, no matter how small, thoroughly and perfectly. She took responsibility in everything she did, from cleaning and tidying up to taking care of the children, which always gave us peace of mind. She also has excellent communication skills, making a sincere effort to express herself not only in English but also in simple Japanese. Her attitude is truly admirable, and it’s remarkable to see someone so young with such maturity and thoughtfulness. We are deeply grateful to have met Laura, and we will always support her from afar, wishing her a life full of happiness and fulfillment.

My stay with Delia and Verena was better than I could have asked for. They are both lovely, warm and kind people and really made me feel at home, included and welcome. They introduced me both to their friends, the village and their interesting project in a really good way. It felt like becoming part of their lovely community. Besides, their project is really cool and inspiring. The work we did was super interesting and it was easy to communicate about what and how to do things. I felt like they really went out their way to make sure that it suited me and that I was comfortable doing it. In short, I am so happy that I went to Schwalmstadt and got to experience this project and meet all these lovely people! If you get a chance to take part and help with the project I really think you should take it!

This was my first workaway and it was incredible. it is difficult to explain in a short review but I originally intended to stay for two weeks and ended up staying for nearly two months. I immediately felt at home in the community, there were many people to chat with and help, so each day was different. Yoshi is also such a singular person, incredibly knowledgeable and extremely funny!! There is a gravity here that, once you are within, it is hard to leave-- and I feel lucky to have got the chance to visit. It definite set the gold-standard for workaway. I'm sure I'll be back soon!

Review of My Volunteering Experience at the Farm (Nawalpur, Nepal) I spent two unforgettable weeks volunteering at the Farm, and it truly felt like being part of a big, loving family. From the moment I arrived, I was surrounded by the kindest people who went out of their way to make me feel at home. I was absolutely spoiled with delicious meals and refreshing drinks every day — the food was always made with so much care! The farm itself is a beautiful and peaceful place, very well taken care of, and you can feel the love and dedication that go into every part of it. Everyone there was always ready to answer my questions and share their knowledge about farming, local life, and Nepali culture. My time at the Farm was filled with warmth, laughter, and learning. It’s a place that will always stay in my heart, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for a genuine and heartwarming volunteering experience in Nepal.

My stay at Louise and Tony was my first experience as a workawayer. Louise was in charge of the stay. She took the time to drive me from Brisbane to their lovely house as she was on her way from the city. I helped her with cleaning the windows and cleaning their bathroom, weeding, organizing some pantries and ironing. She was flexible on the way I was completing my 15 hours so it made it really enjoyable. I stayed for only a week and it was a good experience. I didn't require help finding another job but she really knows a lot about it and how to help travellers to stay in Caloundra and balance work over there with a stay at her place. I definitely recommend her generosity and resourcefulness. She invited me to join a trivia night with her friends which was so nice! I will cherish this evening for a long time. Thank you for having me with you as a last minute host! :)

Caroline is an extremely welcoming , extremely chatty lady who went out of her way to make sure that myself and another Workawayer were happy. She is an experienced host and reckons she has had about 20 Workaway to stay. We worked on different projects each day to keep it interesting. Building a small flight of steps out of stones from the garden, a rough trellis, weeding, making a stone border around a flower bed and collecting firewood from the woodland border of her field. I slept in my camper van and the other lady in the house. We cooked and ate together in the house or when the weather was fine, around a bonfire in the garden. She introduced us to her really friendly non-English speaking neighbour which was a fantastic opportunity to practice speaking French. They were both very patient and diplomatically corrected my really basic French. Caroline loves to help people to learn her language and was skilled at doing so. One morning we had a a game practising how to write food words that she spelt out in French followed by making French crêpes with instructions solely in French. It was great fun! She has very particular ways that she wants things done and explains this carefully. On days off, she took us to her local village for a games evening with the locals, the fruit and vegetable market, up a church tower to look over the lovely mediaeval town, to a mediaeval festival in a castle, to a dance and light show, to cafés and drove us around the local area to a beautiful lake. The surrounding towns and villages all have wonderful mediaeval architecture and the countryside is quite pretty. Caroline‘s cozy farmhouse is surrounded by an attractive country garden, fields and Woodland. I would definitely recommend this placement.

Martina and Jeremy are lovely people and very competent and skilled Workawayers. We loved having them stay with us. They were diligent and expert in their tasks. Martina was a shed cleaner / organiser extraordinaire, a house cleaner and cook while Jeremy did some much-needed paint touch ups, gardening and cleaning chores, as well as daily care and feeding of our dog, Blue. Their standards are high and they are happy, fun and respectful people. We recommend them highly. We look forward to staying in touch and we even have a date to get together to make chutney when the mangoes are in season!

Joel was a great person to have helping us at the sanctuary. He was hardworking and completed all the tasks we needed help with to a high standard. He was able to work well as a member of a team but also use his common sense to work independently. Joel took an interest in our charity's work and was very empathetic to the rescued monkeys in our care. Joel was a great person to have around - very friendly, positive and easy to chat to. Thank you, Joel!

It’s hard to describe Charlotte and Collin in just a few sentences. They’re both exceptionally well-educated, well-mannered, and genuinely kind people. Collin’s extensive work experience is immediately evident — you never have to explain anything twice. Charlotte, on the other hand, is full of life and joy, bringing positive energy to every moment.

Simon is a really good help all around. he takes the work seriously and doesn't go for the fastest or easiest solution but rather the best suited option. On top of that he is a such fun guy to hangout with.

Laurent was a great volunteer to have with us! He’s a skilled carpenter and helped us a lot with various woodwork projects around the camp. He works carefully, with attention to detail, and always with a positive attitude. Besides his practical skills, he’s also a very kind and easygoing person — it was a pleasure to share time and conversations with him. We warmly recommend Laurent to any future host!

Hey, I've stayed 2 weeks with Huyen and her family. That was such an amazing experience, you teach english to some local kids including Huyen's son and they are all very energetic and love to learn if you are creative in your lessons. Huyen is one of the kindest people I've met in my life, she's always taking care of you as if you were a part of the family and you can even join them to discover some places one week-ends. Her place is 40 min away from the center of hanoi if you take the bus but you have plenty of time in the day or week-ends to explore it as the lessons are late in the afternoon. You can discover a beautiful country and moreover a beautiful family. I would definitly recommend this experience to anyone and thank you so much Huyen for everything you've done for me !!!

Spent a week at Ilona's place. Work is much needed, so you have to put in the work for the time expected. It was good to feel useful ! It was great to learn so much about Latvian culture. Ilona shared with me some latvian comics (in english) about Latvian habits and traditions ! Accomodation is great ! There is no heating, but there are as many blankets as you need 👌 Food is simple but good. I'd recomend to buy some snacks if you tend to get hungry i between meals. The sauna experience was amazing 😶‍🌫️ It was a true out of the ordinary week !
