Descrição
Welcome! Our project is a space for inspiration, learning, and research, dedicated to empowering local farmers through sustainable practices. We focus on growing permaculture crops like high-quality coffee, and we are looking for passionate volunteers who share a love for organic farming and permaculture.
We are a motivated team—Deepa, Thomas, Ama, Mangale, Bishal, Dinesh and Kedar (six Nepalese and one Norwegian)—passionate about farming and dedicated to creating positive change in our village.
With many people leaving rural areas to find work, our goal is to create local opportunities. We aim to lead by example and show how adapted organic farming can transform a community.
Our research and study farm is located in a beautiful region of the Himalayas, surrounded by fields, forests, and rich wildlife.
As an experimental farm, we focus on long-term sustainability. We work on developing adaptedseedlings, constantly trying out new crops, innovative projects, new processing methods.
We are seeking dedicated, proactive, and independent volunteers to join us in an exchange of ideas, knowledge, and hands-on work. To make the most of your time here, we look for volunteers who are:
• Motivated & Disciplined: Excited to contribute consistent energy and complete daily farm routines.
• Culturally Curious: Eager to communicate, connect with the local community, and participate in a meaningful cultural exchange.
It takes time to settle into the rhythm of the farm, absorb the surrounding nature, and enjoy a genuine learning experience. For this reason, we ask for a minimum commitment of 2 weeks. (If you are interested in a longer stay, we welcome you to join us for an initial 2 weeks, after which we can discuss extending your stay together!)

Living and working alongside local Nepalese offers a rich, hands-on immersive experience. Language barriers quickly dissolve when you're sharing daily routines, learning by doing, and working toward common goals.
• Dive straight into practical daily tasks led by our team. You'll gain firsthand experience in organic soil fertility, permaculture and sustainable field management.
• Track the journey of coffee from seed to roast, and learn how to harvest and process seasonal crops like hibiscus, rudrakshya, and Nepali hog plum (lapsi).
• Get authentic insights into rural mountain life. You'll pick up basic Nepali language phrases from the team through daily conversation.
• Access our little farm library, packed with books on permaculture, organic farming, and Nepalese history and culture.
• On your days off, explore neighboring villages, visit local monasteries and stupas, or attend traditional festivals.
• Enjoy local hikes. On clear days, you can catch views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including the Langtang range and Shishapangma. -
Ajuda
Weeding, guided tree care, seasonal coffee and fruit harvesting (including processing), tree planting, grass cutting with a sickle, general farm maintenance, basic construction, nursery care, watering, mulching, and compost making.
While coffee is our main specialty, we nurture a diverse agroforestry system. Crops include hibiscus, multiple citrus varieties, guava, Nepali hog plum (Lapsi), Sichuan pepper (Timur), black cardamom, mulberry, strawberry, and various herbs.
Daily tasks shift with the seasons, keeping the work varied and engaging. Work hours are 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (3 hours per day), but the mornings are physically active, so bring your enthusiasm and a good pair of work gloves! -

All of us likes languages and to learn new words in any language. We all speak Nepali, some of us speaks Tamang as well. We all like to practice English. -
Acomodação
Volunteers stay either in our small house (one triple room) or in the main house (two twin rooms), all furnished with comfortable wooden beds. Facilities are shared, including a traditional squat toilet and a solar shower providing hot water.
We are located in a remote area and the nearest market is a 40-minute walk away, there are basic local shops and eateries for volunteers to manage food. There are no guest cooking facilities on site
For an optional fee of $9 USD per day (this is optional not mandatory), you are welcome to join our family for fresh, healthy, mostly organic meals sourced directly from our fields and local area:
• Breakfast: Beaten rice, bread, porridge, seasonal fruits, tea, herbal tea, or fresh coffee.
• Lunch & Dinner: Traditional dal bhat (rice and lentils served with vegetable curries and local sides). At times we serve different nepali foods like dhido, thentuk, tukpa, momo etc. We grow our own greens, beans, garlic, ginger, turmeric, chili etc. alongside seasonal fruits like citrus, guava, and mulberries.
Meals are primarily vegetarian (vegan ok), with local meat served occasionally. If you'd like to learn traditional Nepalese cooking, you are welcome to help us prepare food in the kitchen.
House Rules & Expectations:
To keep our living environment peaceful and respectful for everyone, we ask volunteers to follow a few simple guidelines:
• Be friendly, respectful, and on time for morning work. Shared household tasks (sweeping, washing dishes, cleaning shared facilities) are split among everyone.
• Please keep mobile phones turned off or in your room during work hours.
• Lower voices starting at 8:00 PM, with strict quiet time from 10:00 PM. We prefer all volunteers to return to the compound before dark.
• We maintain a strictly alcohol-free home and farm.
• Shorts and sleeveless tops are fine for both men and women on the farm. Shoes are not permitted inside or under covered patio areas, so please bring easy slip-on sandals or slippers. -

How to Get Here (from Kathmandu):
Buses to our village depart from Helambu Bus Park in Kathmandu in the morning 7:00 AM & 7:15 AM (approx. 3 hours). We will meet you at the bus stop in Nawalpur and walk together to the farm (2.5 km / approx. 40-minute walk).
Support in Kathmandu
If you need help settling in, getting directions to the bus station, or arranging airport pickup and accommodation in Kathmandu, our relatives run a local travel office in Thamel and are happy to assist you!
Once your application is received we will provide you a complete volunteer guide with detailed information on travel, packing lists, and seasonal preparation.
