Heike ist sehr spontan zu uns gekommen, obwohl wir diesen Sommer eigentlich gar nicht vorhatten, Workawayer aufzunehmen. Umso schöner, dass es doch geklappt hat. Während ihrer 5 Tage bei uns hat sie tatkräftig mitangepackt – vom Fensterputzen bis zum Reinigen des Hühnerstalls – alles wurde sorgfältig und zuverlässig erledigt. Danke dir, Heike, für deine Unterstützung – es war wirklich angenehm, dich hier zu haben, und wir wünschen dir weiterhin viele spannende und bereichernde Erfahrungen auf deinen Reisen.

Je suis arrivée en période creuse de l’année (donc peu d'événements), mais j’en garde un bon souvenir. Le lieu est vaste et vraiment incroyable ✨ Les résidents permanents sont d’une grande gentillesse et très accueillants. J’aimerais beaucoup revenir en période estivale pour voir cet ancien couvent s’animer de musiques et de monde.

Tiana and Najdat stayed at my house for 6 nights, taking care of my animals and my house while I was gone. They did a very good job with everything and they even did more work than I asked for. They built my broken fence and a haystation for my bunnies wich was really kind of them! I would recomend them for future workaway places! Thank you Tiana and Najdat! :)

 Staying with Megumi-san and her family was a truly meaningful experience. During those three months, I didn’t just find a host—I found a second family. Megumi-san, her husband, and their wonderful kids welcomed me with such genuine warmth that I felt at home from day one. To me, family means love, respect, laughter, and a real sense of belonging—and that’s exactly what I experienced every single day. Megumi-san is one of the warmest people I’ve ever met. She moves through life with so much love and charm—not just for her own family, but for every Workawayer who walks through her door. She’s incredibly organized without being rigid, creating structure while keeping everything calm and flowing. No matter how busy she gets, she always has time to listen, to smile, and to make everyone feel truly seen. I learned so much just by watching her—how she balances strength and gentleness so easily. Papa-san (yes, we called him Papa :D) is such a kind and loving person who adores his children. Even though he was busy with work and we couldn’t talk much because of the language barrier, I always felt comfortable and welcome around him. He and Megumi-san make such a great team—so balanced and supportive in everything they do, from parenting to juggling all their responsibilities. The kids—Sore, Sera, and Miku—are absolutely precious. I was lucky enough to connect with them right away, and every moment was filled with joy: singing and dancing to Anpanman songs and, of course, “You’re Welcome”, playing games, coloring, or laughing together when they turned into “spaghetti monsters” at dinner time. My favorite memories are when they’d come running toward me with their arms wide open, shouting my named wanting a hug—something I’ll never forget and already miss so much. Life in the house was always filled with warmth and connection. I met so many wonderful Workawayers, each with their own story, and we shared everyday life together—cooking lunch, exploring the city, visiting onsens, and watching dating shows on Netflix in the evenings (always better with Megumi-san!). Through this experience, I learned a lot about myself—especially through my time with the kids and that deep, almost wordless understanding I shared with Megumi-san. Sometimes you meet people who just feel like “Herzensmenschen”—those rare souls you connect with effortlessly. That’s what she is to me. (my wife ;)) I’m endlessly grateful for every memory: the BBQs, baseball games, swimming with the twins, grape picking, and of course, the unforgettable Muscle Bar. Thank you, Megumi-san and Papa-san, for opening your home and heart to me. You’re truly one of a kind. I wholeheartedly recommend staying with Megumi-san. Anyone lucky enough to be part of her family will experience a truly welcoming and loving home.

My experience at the eco-village was incredible. It’s such a special place, if you want to experience off-grid living in the mountains, surrounded by pure nature and away from the town. During my three weeks in Herceg Novi, I spent a total of four days at the eco-village, spread throughout my stay, because I wanted a mix of both nature life and coastal life. Janko was so kind and helpful, making sure my time in Montenegro was amazing. He introduced me to his friends and family, all of them were so welcoming. Special thanks to his friend Jan! He made my travels feel like a home. I’ll forever cherish the memories I made while staying there.

Denise and her sister Nele are two wonderful women. They are full of love for dogs and also total team players. You just have to like them. And so we can give them great feedback in return. They are welcome back anytime. They are simply two intelligent young women who you can't help but like. Thank you both, you were amazing. Thank you for everything.

Marga is a very easy-going girl. We hit it off immediately. She helped me with some specific tasks at home and the basement to which she was very committed. We had lots of lovely conversations about life. We felt very much at easy in each other's company. I wouldn't hesitate to host her again. I wish her all the best in all her life adventures!

Tessa and Niklas worked here as kayak guides during the summer. They are professional, positive, responsible, and very easy to work with. They guided kayak tours safely and confidently, and guests consistently gave excellent feedback — about 95% five-star reviews and 5% four-star. One guest wrote: “Our guide, Nick, was absolutely fantastic — knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful. During the trip, I accidentally left my jacket behind. To my surprise, Nick went out of his way and drove a long distance just to return it to me. That level of kindness and dedication is rare and truly appreciated.” Another guest wrote: “Tessa is an awesome tour guide! This location is really beautiful. It was nice to kayak along the fjord outside of town and away from the cruise ships.” Besides guiding, they also handled safety, logistics, shopping, and maintenance tasks — everything was done perfectly. They were always on time, reliable, and handled changes in the program calmly and professionally. They also did construction and painting work, and the results were excellent. Both are independent, skilled, and competent people, and it was a real pleasure having them on the team!

I couldn’t be more grateful for opportunities like this crossing my path. I was traveling through Portugal without a fixed plan when I came across this surf camp — and what a beautiful surprise it turned out to be! The camp is located in one of the most stunning places I’ve ever been, surrounded by gorgeous sunsets and stunning cliffs and oceans views. Tonya and Russo are very kind and welcoming, and I was lucky to join a returning team of lovely, hard-working people. The atmosphere was always positive and full of good energy. This is a real job, with a steady rhythm and busy seasons where help is truly needed. I arrived without expectations and simply wanted to contribute — I truly hope my time and energy were valuable to them. I ended up staying almost two and a half months until my next adventure called! I’m not a surfer myself, but if you are, this is definitely a great place. Even without surfing, I absolutely loved being surrounded by nature — the ocean, the sunsets, and the peaceful rhythm of coastal life. Just a small note: if, like me, you’re used to tropical weather, you might find the temperatures a bit cooler than expected for summer. Tonya and Russo are very helpful and often give lifts into town for groceries, and there are plenty of beautiful walks in the area. Let me tell you Olina and Will are the coolest parents I’ve ever met! If you want to learn about parenting they are to talk to. Olina cooks healthy yet DELICIOUS food. They both give good advice if you are new to Australia like me. Leo and Tai are super lovely kids. Letting Leo show you how to draw is a very fun and new experience to me. And she is really welcoming that you won’t feel left out in the family (so are Olina, Will, and Tai). Tai is a sugarcube. He is rarely difficult and when he is Olina and Will do a good job calming him down. And wait for Tai to call your name - that is extremely adorable. Reading books to him is something I never thought could be so soothing and fun. As for the tasks I’ve done - I’ve moved a few loads of wheelbarrows of mulching and done some weeding, sanding doors, dishes, and distracting the kids. Working hours are reasonable. And if you love children this is the place. The location is lovely too very close to the lake.

This was my very first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a more special place to begin. Jenny’s little paradise is a haven where each day flows naturally, filled with beauty and peace. From the very first moment, she welcomed me with kindness that I instantly felt at home. I truly enjoyed every minute spent helping with her projects — from gardening and sanding to painting and creating — everything unfolded with a wonderful, easy rhythm. Jenny, thank you a million times for opening your world to me. I’ll always carry this experience close to my heart and hope life brings me back soon. 🌸

The place you stay, they call "Casaletto", is in a middle of one olive yard. You should climb up to hill ( around 1km) where the village is and where Damaso and his wife lives. There is no bathroom and kitchen. No heating. Toilet is outside. Water is not suitable to use ( only for flush). There are wild pigs, deers, snakes around. So better to toilet before getting dark and dangerous around. Damaso's wife, Barbara, is an amazing person with full of positive energy. Damaso is a pragmatic person who is not communicating much. He smokes a lot and #redacted#. Suddenly he can get very angry. From the first moment you feel that you are there to provide him free workforce preferably consuming only rice and water. #redacted# Avoiding even to provide very basic food such as bread, milk, eggs... Moreover he is chosing his volunteers according to his feelings on " who eats more and who eats less". So if you are vegan or vegetarian you are a perfect volunteer.

We stayed around two-week stay at Stapleton Creek and truly cherished the time spent with Kwame, Josh, and Asti. ​We were happy to lend a hand with a variety of tasks, including painting, bamboo picking, drains cleaning, watering, gardening, leaves clearing, sorting, wood cutting, fixing, Wi-Fi-ing, cooking... We felt completely independent and appreciated that there was absolutely no pressure regarding the work. ​Josh and Kwame were incredibly kind and generous hosts. Being able to stay in their home, share meals together, and play with their wonderful dog Asti made the experience so special. They were lovely to every member of our family, and we felt an strong and very enjoyable connection. ​We are going to miss you guys so much and look forward to seeing you when you come to Switzerland!

Bruno is an exceptional young man. He is very kind, lovable, respectful, capable, and precise. He helped a lot and did more than expected. He completed every task to my complete satisfaction. He is reliable in everything he does, communicates well, is independent, tidy, and simply perfect. We really enjoyed our time with him and would welcome him back anytime. I can highly recommend him. I had an incredible experience during my two-month stay with Joe. It truly was an amazing time that I’ll always remember. Joe’s House on the Sunshine Coast is absolutely beautiful so peaceful and quiet, yet perfectly located! In just a short walk you’re right at the beach, or quickly in the mountains for a great hike. The surroundings couldn’t be more perfect for nature lovers. Joe is such a kind and thoughtful person. He always made sure I was having the best possible experience and I really appreciated that. Both him and his Girlfriend welcomed me so warmly from the very beginning. They're truly wonderful people and made me feel right at home. Working with Joe was not only fun but also super inspiring. The work atmosphere was really relaxed and positive, and I enjoyed every task. Especially because they were so diverse and sometimes even required a bit of creativity, which kept things interesting. I learned so much from Joe during my time there, and I’m really grateful for everything he shared with me. And of course, I can't forget about Kitty. Such a lovely and sweet dog! She's full of energy and life, so anyone staying here should definitely be a dog lover, but she made every day a bit more fun. Thanks again for everything. I can really recommend staying with Joe! It wasnt just a stay, i had a ruff jurney until i arrived at Juárez House i hit robbed and had no more Phone. somehow we maneged to find Each Other and Had an awesome and careful Time. Juárez is the kindest person i met so for. i told him about my plan moving to Spain and without even asking He offerd His Help and Mad IT Happen! to everyone ITS bot going to BE a normal stay ITS going to BE expirience, advantures and a awesome time! thanks man!

I spent almost a month at Louis's place and it was amazing! Together with him and Jamie I have learned so much about building and general maintenance, we cooked together and shared beautiful moments everyday. It was summertime, so everyday we were going to the river and doing something together. I definitely recommend them, Louis is a funny and gentle guy and Jamie is a great man to with share long talks about everything. I just felt like part of the family. I can't even begin to describe how much we loved staying here. The dogs are precious, it was a pleasure to get to know all their personalities and to bond with them (little spoiler, there were some tears when we left). It was beautiful to see some of the dogs in the quarantine slowly opening up to us and to even help train them walk on a leash! The team are extremely dedicated to the dogs and go above and beyond. The dogs are cared for to a very high standard. Special shout out to Layla and Patrik who put their hearts and souls into these dogs and it's noticeable. Tanja has also been very communicative whenever we needed anything and is very dedicated to everything running smoothly. Overall it's just such a positive vibe. The work itself can be somewhat challenging - especially medical cases if you're not used to it - but nothing outside of what is reasonable is ever asked and whenever we were unsure about anything it was respected and worked around so we were comfortable with our tasks. The accommodation also is in a very good condition, the beds are comfortable and bathrooms are clean and in good condition. We felt extremely comfortable there. We can highly recommend this place and would absolutely consider coming back next time we're in Thailand. Thank you team for such an unforgettable experience:)
