Louis is pleasant and hardworking. He’s easy to speak with, conscientious and clean! We love that here! 😝😉 He spent much of his time off at the beach! The best place to hang out! Louis arrived as I was leaving to help my friends who had just delivered a baby a few hours earlier. After our super quick hug and introduction, my dear friend, Angelina, showed him around, gave him the tour and fed him dinner because I didn’t return until 10:30pm. The next day, we all started to plaster the outside of my home. We plastered all 5 of his work days because this is what needed completion. On the 6th day, Louis told me that it was too rough for him to stay the requested 2 week work period. I was surprised because he hadn’t mentioned anything previously and I asked him everyday, how he felt and what he needed. He always said he was fine. (This is the only reason I’m rating him 4 stars instead of 5!) I asked him what made him uncomfortable so I can fix it and help future guests feel more comfortable. After all, it’s a work in progress, off grid here. His complaints were that there is : 1. no running water to the sink and 2. he didn’t like using the dry toilet. When he arrived he said he preferred to take a shovel and walk. Which is completely fine by me. Whatever makes people feel comfortable. I certainly appreciate the feedback! I’m very grateful for all of his plastering efforts and his pleasant nature! I would definitely recommend to other hosts!

Kora and Tom have been truly exceptional Workawayers. From the very first day they showed kindness, respect, and a wonderful spirit of collaboration. Tom proved to be also an excellent electrician, skilled, precise, and absolutely reliable. His work was always thoughtful and professional, and he handled every task with great competence. Kora was equally wonderful—organized, positive, attentive, and always ready to help with intelligence and grace. They adapted immediately to the house and brought harmony, joy, and a beautiful presence. Their help was invaluable, and their attitude was always warm and respectful. I would host them again without hesitation, and I recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone lucky enough to welcome them. Five stars in every possible way.

Claire was a great help with the dogs, the during the time we shared together we had some lovely chats and it was really relaxed and comfortable. Claire is a lovely person, caring and thoughtful, I would have loved her to stay longer!

After spending 10 fantastic days with Kary and Nhung, I would like to give my feedback - first and foremost, their little resort is a true paradise, a place that encourages peace, self-discovery and enjoyment of life! We had it all set up at the last minute and therefore I didn't have time to expect much - but I had a really good experience both in and outside of the work I did - including a lot of socializing with the hosts and the other volunteers, hiking to Panama and doing small construction projects to help complete and prepare the place for the upcoming retreats. I can definitely recommend their little gem to future volunteers and hope that one day I will have the opportunity to come back!

Willem is a correct and polite person. He is quiet and doesn't cause any issue. He loves flying on paraglade, he enjoyed Algodonales and the typical food here

If you love spotting wildlife and enjoy hiking this is the Workaway for you. We had the best time not only because of Monteverde and the many activities it offers, but also because the room was good, the showers were best in CR, we got two meals a day! The shifts were good and most importantly the staff were super lovely!! There are a few great local bars you can enjoy a drink and play pool in. We were able to get discounts and also sometimes even free entrance to the reserves, we did some wild hikes to further away reserves such as San Gerardo Starion at Children's eternal rainforest (100% recommend for able people - intermediate difficulty hike) Some days when you want to relax, the garden is beautiful and has some great tables, so you can read and feel the sun, there are places near by for sunset views, the weather is much cooler than the beaches so you get to enjoy the wildlife and the hikes, plenty of sloths and tropical birds, but not be super hot all the time! Monteverde was a fairytale place full of colourful butterflies, hummingbirds, frogs, awesome hikes with awesome views, ziplines and waterfalls by day and by night great restaurants, bars, pool. Work was easy and the staff great! Expect a slower pace of life, time to take it easy and enjoy the hiking and lucky wildlife encounters when they happen. 100% recommend (if you're a nice, chill person!)

Rupert is simply the best. I had a wonderful stay. I wouldn't say that I worked. I enjoyed live while helping a little. If I ever comeback to Botswana I definitely stop at his Camp! ❤️

Margarita and Alex are super nice people, though quite reserved. They stayed with us for a few weeks, which was great, as they quickly got into a routine with the tasks and became very autonomous. A big thank you to both of you, and all the best for the rest of your travels!

Pija worked with us this season and was originally meant to stay from April to July, but since everything went so well, she ended up staying with us until the end of August. She was engaged, reliable, hardworking, and wonderfully uncomplicated in her way of working. A fast learner, she quickly picked up new tasks and handled them with ease. Her positive character, spontaneous attitude, and constant willingness to help made her a real asset to the team. Her language skills were another big plus—being fluent in Italian, English, and Slovenian (and speaking even more languages) was greatly appreciated by us, the team, and our international guests. Thank you, Pija, for your great work, your attitude, and the energy you brought. It was truly a pleasure to have you with us, and we’re grateful for the extra month you chose to spend here! Hope to see you soon again :)

I stayed at Leyilah‘s place very spontaneously for 2 weeks and my time there was so great, that in the end I wished I could have stayed longer. Leyilah is one of the kindest persons in the world. She welcomed me with such a warmth and empathic attitude, that I instantly felt comfortable around her. It really means a lot to her that everyone is feeling good and does not forget to take breaks between working. The work at her place does not feel like real work, because there is always a great atmosphere and you are welcome to say if you don’t feel comfortable doing a task. I had great conversations with Leyilah, Michael, Momo and her dad. They all include you in their family life and you get to feel like you are part of the family. They showed me typical danish dishes and offered me to come with them to other cities around Skanderborg. In my time there, we prepared for Momos big birthday party. Momo is a really unique girl with such a good spirit and always in a good mood. It is so much fun to be around her. Overall everyone at Leyilah’s place is easy to interact with and fun & happiness are always priority.

Thomas, Rikke and their family were the most lovely people. They welcomed us warmly and taught us a lot about Danish culture and were very interested about our own. They naturally shared their lifestyle with us, cooked wonderful meals (like delicious pizzas on Friday) and were very patient when it came to explain each task we had to do! We had plenty of time to discover and explore the island which was very calm and unique with stunning landscapes and sheeps. We even got to learn how to bike properly! Thanks for that, we now have a pro rider in the team. We will forever remember the burst of laughters we had, and we'd be carrying these memories on with us all the way back home. We are so grateful to have shared one month and a half in your company and we send a lot of love to everyone; Ophelia, Bodil, Karen, Anker, Edith, Sofus, Karl, Alma, Rikke & Thomas ♡ Merlin & Aaron.

I had the incredible and unique opportunity of joining this organization's new river cleaning project for a month near the end of September, and I'm so happy I did it. I joined kind of last minute (the project had begun two weeks earlier) and being the last person in the crew to show up, I was nervous about fitting in. But I couldn't have gotten luckier! I ended up being a part of a really cool, international 6-person crew (including our wonderful team leader Kaja! You would never guess it's her first time leading a project), and together we would fill our days hiking to pick up trash alongside rivers, cooking, having family-style dinners, exploring the fjords on a day off, playing music by the fireplace, watching the northern lights, a spontaneous IKEA trip, drawing each other, movie nights, playing card games, going on a spiritual pilgrimage to see a certain monument (hehe), dancing and singing together...I could go on forever! It was a month of hard work and perpetually cold, wet feet, but being a part of this crew was the absolute best. It felt really good to participate in such a meaningful project, and getting to see how much trash we were able to pick up in such a short amount of time never failed to inspire me. It was a lot more hiking than canoeing which I was originally disappointed about, but hiking along the rivers in random terrain also had its exciting moments. We got to see beautiful mossy forests, rushing rivers, and after wrapping up our cleaning ahead of schedule (woohoo!), we got to take a few trips boating on the ocean, and clean up around some of the coastlines and little islands out there. You'll get stronger for sure from joining this project, see some rocks that look misleadingly similar to the back of a whale, and smell some things you'll wish you could unsmell. Nevertheless, I will always be grateful for this experience and the people I met here.

Judith stayed with me for a month in June, at the busiest time of the gardening season when the sun never set. She delved into all the tasks with great enthusiasm, diligence and patience, wether it was sowing seeds, planting out seedlings in my veg bed, tiresome weeding of horror couch weeds or moving huge boulders to my new rockery! She emersed herself in the wild landscape and used any moment to take a dip in the ocean or go for a walk in the mountains. Judith also turned out to have a great talent for making mosaic! Her designs for my greenhouse floor were fabulous. She is a joy to be around with a good sense of humour and a contagious laughter and she is a great cook and animal lover. The chickens have never laid as many eggs as in her attentive care! For any future hosts I would warmly recommend having Judith as a guest.

I had an amazing experience staying at Eva's workaway. She's an incredibly kind and thoughtful person who went through a lot of effot to make sure my stay was comfortable, doing everything from providing home cooked meals after work to taking me out to dinner in a local Spanish restaurant. During my stay the work invloved was mostly digging a trench for rainwater to flow through, leveling some ground, clearing weeds and cleaning up after the horses. There was lots to do but it was never difficult and it was a great way to see what life is like on a rural Spanish ranch. The accommodation is a small house and staying there has probably been the most comfortable I've been in months! Eva keeps the kitchen fully stocked so you always have food, theres a gas heater you can use if you start to feel cold and between the reclining chairs and warm double bed its never difficult to unwind and relax after a days work. All in all it was an incredible experience andthere isn't a single thing I would change!

I could spend two weeks with Nico and had a great time. I learned a lot about permaculture, learned about new fruits and vegetables, and really enjoyed working in the garden. Most of all, I have really good memories of the food, which was all local and always fresh from the garden. Thank you so much, Nico, for letting me stay with you :)

Angela worked here for the whole summer, and it was amazing to have her! She shown us to be very reliable and precise in the work, even in stressfull situations. In a kitchen that was full of men, she managed to make things more organized, which helped us a lot. She always comes with a new fresh look on things, and new ideas. Apart from the work she is really easy going. Always up for stuff to do with other people and having a good time together. Her boyfriend Szilard didn't work here, but we have met him multiple times. He is also a very easy going person and I think they would be a very nice addition to the team in countless other workaway opportunities!

Staying with Isabelle was delightful, she's a great host and really easy to get along with. I spent a month there, and during that time I helped with various projects such as building an art studio, gardening, house work, and preparing the house for a party. She's really easy to work with, I found all the work really enjoyable and engaging, and she was also very understanding when I had personal issues which occasionally affected the day's work. I had my own space upstairs in the house, which was really nice to chill out in (when I wasn't out climbing in the forest!). We also spent a lot of time together outside of work hours; we'd have meals together and watch movies in the evening, or just sit and chat over a cup of coffee or a beer, which was really nice. By the end of my stay, Isabelle felt much more like a good friend than simply a host. I would absolutely recommend staying with her to anyone visiting the area, I couldn't have asked for anything better.
