Lennart is one of those rare individuals who shows up with a great attitude, a strong work ethic, and a genuine curiosity to learn and contribute. During his time with us he quickly became a valued member of the team. He is focused, kind, and quietly confident in a way that makes others naturally look to him for leadership. He takes initiative. He works hard without needing much direction. He brings a thoughtful presence to both the work and the community around him. He helped with a range of farm-related tasks and picked up new skills quickly. Beyond the work, it was also just great to have him around. He’s grounded, insightful, and someone you can have meaningful conversations with. We’d be happy to have him back anytime and truly hope to cross paths again. Highly recommend hosting Lennart if you get the chance.

It has been an absolute pleasure having Catrinel as part of our volunteer team. Initially, like any other volunteer who lands in a far away country with different cultures and all, she had questions and concerns that I can happily say came to pass day after day that she really enjoyed working with the kids. Catrinel brought a positive energy, a strong work ethic and a genuine commitment. Her contributions have been invaluable . We deeply appreciate the time and dedication. We wholeheartedly recommend Catrinel for any future opportunities. She will be a valuable asset to any team.

We had a truly unforgettable two-week stay with Gustavo and Mariana at their beautiful farm. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed - not just by them, but also by their wonderful dogs and cats who quickly became our companions. The cabin we stayed was cozy and comfortable, nestled in peaceful nature and surrounded by mountains. The work was physical and outdoors, which we loved - being in the fresh mountain air every day was incredibly rewarding. Gustavo and Mariana were always kind, clear in their instructions, and appreciative of our help. Evenings brought a sky full of stars like we've never seen before - absolutely breathtaking. On one of our days off, we visited nearby Lago Puelo for their alfajor festival, which was full of music, local treats, and good vibes. It was the perfect break. Overall, this experience was enriching, peaceful, and inspiring. We’re so grateful for the time we spent here and would absolutely recommend this Workaway to anyone looking to connect with nature, animals, and kind-hearted hosts.

I couldn't have asked for a better workaway experience. Leif and Camilo were so friendly and welcoming. The hostel has such a fantastic atmosphere, among both volunteers and guests. Leif was a very flexible host; I had plenty of free time and he had fantastic recommendations for hikes, bars and other things to do. I miss this place, and the people ( dogs!) so much, and hope to be back in the future. Thanks for having me ❤️

Thats the beauty of these twins - double up - twice the fun, twice the effort, twice the accomplishments, twice the company and twice the pleasure being host to these two lovely ladies from Italy. They cleared the garden of weeds in double time, spread mulch at twice the speed, and sowed double rows of carrots, beans and peas and made my gardens a happy sight in half the time it would have taken me. Any host for these young travelers will undoubtedly be twice blessed to have these twins cut any workload in half - and to be able to remember which one is which!. I was grateful these twins chose my hosting and I enjoyed their youthful interest in the environment and painting at the beach.

I stayed with Cheryl and Nick for about 10 days and had a lovely experience. I mostly worked in their garden- it was easy and laid back. They always gave me clear instructions and gave me plenty of time for breaks. Our meals were amazing (they stock the kitchen with great food!) and they also took me to see surrounding areas. I also had a private bedroom and bathroom. What I enjoyed most was sitting around the fire and chatting with them each night. Such a great stay!

Nuru is special. The feedback he wrote about us tells you more about him than about us. About his own values, about what is important for him. It is so easy to love him. His mood, his vibe, his always good disposition…is so easy to connect with him. We had an amazing time together, we enjoyed it so much and we miss him a lot. All his games, all his laughs, all his specialities… could not say which one I like most (Durum, chicken tikka, three sisters, lentils soup, dolma, eggs… or yummy “yogurt beverage” ),… always happy to help, or more than help I would say to contribute 😊 His help cooking and with the house was very good, and his caring with Oli was a gift (stretching, playing, practising with spelling, laughing out loud trough the corridor…) Nuru, we have shared so many beautiful moments, I cannot tell you how happy you will make us any time you decide to come to us. I hope this happen sooner than later. We love you and we miss you. Thank you for these weeks.

Aylen and Juan stayed at the finca for two weeks. They worked hard strimming the land and fixing things for me. We cooked and ate together and they were great company. They were respectful and reliable and I hope they will visit me again. Any host would be delighted to meet them.

My volunteering experience with Guda and Sedat was very good. It's great when you feel like you're really being useful and helping others. The work I did involved gardening, feeding the animals and general housekeeping. The hours are flexible and I felt comfortable being able to organize my personal and volunteer tasks over the course of 5 hours and 5 days a week, with the weekends off. They provide food three times a day and it's enough. They're both great cooks, Yumi-Yumi. As for accommodation, I stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom with another volunteer, which was totally okay too. Thank you very much Gula and Sedat for your hospitality and trust, and I hope to see you again next time.

Being part of this place was one of the most meaningful experiences I've had. From the first day, I felt super safe and comfortable, and my nervousness faded quickly, because the whole team orange made me feel like I truly belonged there. This experience was super special for many reasons, specially it was the emotional connections: with the other volunteers, with the kids, and with the place itself. There was a real sense of care, and being present for one another. I didn't expect to be so moved by the small every day moments, the laughs, the hugs, etc, but they really stayed with me 😭. I left the camp feeling changed, touched, and very grateful 🙏🏻. It reminded me how powerful it is to see the world with the eyes of a kid, and be part of something that matters. I'm really thankful for the people I met and everything I learned, and I'll carry that with me forever 🧡 multumesc Romania 🇷🇴

I had a really enjoyable workaway memory here! Everyday I did different tasks, explored new places, created new dishes and went swimming. I feel respected and trusted, had enough time to myself also shared beautiful moments with Melinda, her friends and the cat! Ocean Grove and the peninsula is very interesting to explore, with the bike provided it's a perfect pace to look around. Big thanks to Melinda that accepts who I am, shares beautiful things with me, also gives me special art project and farm visit! Happy, lucky & very grateful ✨

Ina was awesome to have around — super capable, social, and fun. She helped with everything: clearing out a floor 🧽, assembling furniture 🪚🪛🔧, doing garden work 🏡🌿, and we also did some solar-related electrical work 👩‍🔧. She’s got a broad skillset, takes initiative, and could easily lead a small team if needed. She lives in a van she designed and built herself 🚐⚡ (solar, filters, custom kitchen — the works!) and brings that same creativity and resourcefulness to every project. Also… her breakfasts really are fantastic 😋🍳. The other guests here really enjoyed her too — she left a great impression. I’d happily host her again! 🙌

I stayed with Salla and Eric for almost two weeks and I really enjoyed it. From the first day on I felt very included and welcomed. They are kind and easy to be around and you soon feel at home there. I learned a lot about gardening and permaculture, and had a lot of fun too. And I enjoyed the walks with buddy, who is a really nice and gentle dog. Thank you again for the great experience and I would love to come back next year. 😊

I stayed with Hélène for over a month in April/May and absolutely loved working at this place. From the moment I arrived, I felt very secure and comfortable around. There were plenty of tasks to be done, such as horse-feeding, guarding horses on the pastures, gardening and fixing or building things. The work at this place is exhausting and physical, but a lot of fun at the same time and a good opportunity to learn new skills. Additionally, I had the chance to join on trips to the (animal) basar in Tokmok and we even went up to the hot springs all together. Hélène is a great teacher for anything horse-related (and beyond) and has an impressive hands-on lifestyle. This includes cutting the hoofs by herself, shoeing them, giving medicine to the horses and so on. Besides, her skill range and knowledge extends into various areas, e. g. to plants and their healing effects. Since Hélène has lived in Kyrgyzstan for a very long time, she knows a lot of things about the local culture and has plenty of stories to tell. On a personal level, she is amongst the kindest and most patient people I've ever met. She treats her animals with a high level of kindness and respect while taking good care of them. At the end of my stay, I rented three of her horses with a friend and we went on a 4-day trail ride. In order to do so, I had the chance to learn the necessary skills from Hélène over the course of my work stay. This was mainly about the equipment, saddles, packing, health of horses and so on. This place was my place to be at the perfect time and I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in horses.

This was my first workaway ever and the best first one I could've hoped for. It was different than I expected beforehand since I was the only volunteer for 3 out of 4 weeks and in this time of the year there is less to do in the rice paddies. I was greatly rewarded with a full on family and countryside experience. Captain and Kakak took me into their extended family without further ado and I was able to experience the most special moments - terima kasih to both of you!!! About the tasks: gardening, feeding chicken and ducks, scaring the birds, processing rice, harvesting rice, and smaller everyday chores. Better be able to cope with all kinds of animals while here 😀 All in all: A wonderful experience that I wouldn't want to miss! ❤️

We had our first Workaway experience with Johnny, spending six weeks on his homestead in southern Norway. We were absolutely thrilled by the rural surroundings and the huge property that stretches all the way down to the lake. We stayed in the house on the property, which we either had to ourselves or occasionally shared with Johnny. He's a very open-minded person, and we had great conversations with him about all kinds of topics. It was a real pleasure to exchange thoughts about cultural differences and similarities. Working with Johnny was very easy-going. He got us involved right away, and we helped with chopping firewood and tidying up the property. Since we stayed during the spring, many of our tasks were related to preparing for summer. We took care of the potato field and the strawberry beds, cleaned out the sheep barn, mowed the lawn, removed weeds and moss from the grass and rocks, and sowed new grass. We also helped Johnny with developing the "beach" area by the lake — we really hope this project continues and turns out just the way he envisions it! Part of our responsibilities included caring for the animals: feeding hay to the sheep, keeping the chicken coop clean and collecting eggs, and looking after newly hatched chicks. There was also plenty to do outside of work. Johnny’s property is perfect for spending time outdoors — grilling on the porch or by the lake, going for boat rides, or just sitting in the sun. The surrounding area is incredibly beautiful, offering lots of opportunities for hiking through forests and up into the mountains. One of the highlights for us was a train trip to Notodden that Johnny took us on. He’s a train operator and wanted to show us his workplace — it was a breathtaking journey through Norway’s stunning nature! Hanna’s thoughts: I had an absolutely amazing time with Johnny. I really enjoyed the work, and I gained a much better understanding of what it takes to run a homestead. I learned how much effort goes into maintaining such a property and how everything is interconnected. I especially loved the gardening work we did during the last few weeks of our stay! I got to plant potatoes, help Johnny with the compost, and do some weeding — which, unlike many people, I actually really enjoy. Even though it wasn’t very frequent, the contact with Johnny’s family was also really lovely. His daughter Astrid often encouraged me to play games with her, which I enjoyed a lot. I truly appreciated the conversations with Johnny. They ranged from funny Norwegian sayings to deeper topics, and I feel like I have learned a lot from him. For anyone who wants to experience life in the Norwegian countryside, enjoys a wide variety of outdoor tasks, and is looking for a warm and open host, I can wholeheartedly recommend Johnny. I'm so grateful to him for a wonderful time! Marvin’s thoughts: My time with Johnny won’t just be remembered as my first Workaway experience — it was a truly special chapter in my life. Johnny is an incredibly open, curious, and kind person. It’s very easy to talk to him, and he has so many fascinating stories to share. I really recommend taking the time to sit down and talk with him — he has so much insight to offer. Not only does he know quite a bit about the local history of Porsgrunn, but over the years, he’s also picked up a lot of practical knowledge and some “cowboy tricks.” He reflects deeply on a wide range of topics, so if you’re curious, open to learning, and eager to gain new perspectives, Johnny is the perfect host. He always made sure we were doing well, enjoying the work, and not overexerting ourselves. But Johnny’s care extended far beyond the work itself — his house in Porsgrunn truly became a home for us during those six weeks, thanks largely to his warm and welcoming nature. We never lacked for anything, and it’s clear how much thought and heart he puts into hosting Workawayers. At the same time, we always had enough space and time to ourselves. As Johnny already mentions on his profile, most of your contact will be with him rather than with his family. So if you’re looking to be fully integrated into a host family, this might not be the right place — but for us, it was just perfect. I’m incredibly grateful to Johnny for this unforgettable time. I’ll always cherish the memories and I’m already looking forward to the day we meet again!
