Thank you, Christine and Anto, for such an amazing experience!! I loved staying here. I am writing this review a bit late, about a month and a bit after leaving, but I am looking back and thinking: Wow, we literally did so much cool stuff!! It is the best place I have been for learning about organic farming for sure. There is an amazing big garden to tend to, which we spent loads of time in, autumn harvesting and de-weeding. We could take food for the week from the garden and greenhouse and it was so nice to be eating food grown organically on your doorstep. I really loved how involved the whole experience was. I'd recommend staying for 3 weeks or more because that way you get to see certain tasks all the way through. Like "hot composting" which started in my first week there by harvesting apple chippings from the apple juice making process, and finished in my third and last week, by mixing those apple chips in with older hot compost. It was so satisfying to feel the warmth coming off the hot compost in the end :) It's an especially great place for learning about homemade natural products: We made Apple Juice from Apples; we picked; Murtado from the Murta; Salsa from the Tomatoes, and Honey from the Honey combs (Working with the Bees was amazing). Christine and Anto make such a warm and welcoming environment for you. The accommodation was super comfy, the food they cooked was delicious, and I couldn't have asked for more of the company :) Thanks again Christine and Anto so much!! Toby :)

Hey Workawayers! I spent a week at Patricio and Phoebe’s place. The weather was mostly beautiful and I got to kitesurf in my free time. The work hours were 9:30 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 15:30. Patricio is a clear communicator, there were no misanderstanings about what needed to be done. In preparation for the season we cleaned the restaurant kitchen (greaaasy, you’re right, Phoebe - a job you only do once in your life :D) in the adjacent restaurant and painted parts of the restaurant. We put in hard work to make it nice and shiny ;) Patricio offered that we could eat at the restaurant at a discount. During lunch break and in the evenings we cooked together among us workawayers in the outdoor kitchen, which was really inspiring for me. I usually took up washing the dishes, because the others were better at cooking. We shared expenses for food amongst us workawayers. The hosts at this workaway live separately (they have two babies), so this experience is all about the community among workawayers, which can be very beautiful. Thanks Edu and Zak, it was lovely meeting you! The agreement ist that because you are not fed by the host, you can take lessons at the school, which is valuable. Patricio wanted us to go swimming amongst us workawayers after our work shift to create a nice community vibe. I enjoy swimming, so I didnt have to to be asked twice :) The accommodation is an old storage room in a backroom of the kite-school which has been transformed into a shared bedroom with two bunk-beds. We three workawayers shared that room. Dont bring too much stuff, because there is only a little shelf/no wardrobe! ;) The bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) is shared with the customers of the kiteschool. All in all a sandy, beachy vibe with lots of people around and very good music playing all the time.

I have read many reviews along these lines and this will be one of them: This was my first workaway experience and I could not have asked for a better one. Louise, Abby and Blaine are lovely people, I felt welcome from the first minute I arrived. Louise, who I worked with, is a very good communicator (she used to run a restaurant, which is probably why) so there were never any misunderstandings. Louise has a lot of life experience, we had many many inspring chats. The animals are very lovely, the work is straightforward and very manageable: I worked 8.15 - 11:45 and 16:15 to 18:00, free days on tuesday and friday. We took care of the horses, chickens, goats and the cat (mucking out the stables, filling hay nets, changing water, feeding) and I restacked the firewood for the winter. The full farm experience and I loved it! I still really miss the cat (his name is Moustache). And of course Bliss, the goat (who I fed porridge many times). Louise and Abby's cooking is second to none. I have never had so much healthy food that tasted this good, I leave very inspired. I looked forward to every lunch and dinner! On the 25th of January we celebrated a Burns Supper and had an incredibly vegetarian Haggis. It was amazing. In short - you will be made to feel very welcome and have a wonderful experience in the French countryside!

Meeting Susan was a real blessing, a wonderful gift. She welcomed us in her life with pure love, kindness, energy and positivity. Her strength, determination and passion about the humanitarian work deeply inspired us and taught us that the world could be a better place because of her lively presence and her warm and humble soul. The children of the foundation flooded us with love and laughter, and being able to interact with them enabled us to create strong and special connections that we will carry in our hearts forever. We were so grateful and lucky to have met Susy. We already miss our Kenyan mum, and we feel that we are part of a wonderful family that we will go visit again someday to live unforgettable moments altogether.

Dear Workawayers, I have spent three weeks at this workaway. It was easily the best workaway / Woofing experience I had. Ramon, Claire and Alexandre (and their two cats) are a beautiful family, have a beautiful home in a beautiful place on earth. Seldomly in my life have I experience such great hospitality. You read this often on the Workaway website, but Ramon and his family truly made me feel at home. On my first night we played Cluedo, it was like back home with my family. Also pretty intense for my french, because I hadn’t spoken it since school. But everyone was very patient with my aspirations to improve my french during my stay. Claire also worked on her english, so it was a great exchange. Ramon is fluent in English, so dont worry at all if youre not proficient at speaking french. I usually worked with Ramon in the mornings to midday, but not following a tight schedule. We removed a tree stump in the garden, repaired a drill and began building a shed next to the house. Ramon is incredibly patient and kind, but also encouraging, so you can truly improve your skills (I used an electric chainsaw for the first time and also soldered for the first time in a long time). Ramon is an educated handyman, so safety at the workplace was always priority Nr. 1. Truly a great teacher! The food was always very good. We shared every meal together. I also went along sometimes when we went shopping. Sometimes I helped to cook lunch. Ramon encouraged me to use my creativity in the kitchen, we had a great time! In the afternoons, Ramon showed me the beautifiul region around Montpellier. The south of France is gorgeous. Once, we picked up a bike (that Ramon had bought) in a place about an hour away from Montpellier and went to Carcassonne after (which is quite a drive by car!). We also saw Montpellier ofcourse, but also Sète, Beaux-de-Provence, Aigues-Mortes… the region is RICH in culture and beautiful nature. On my first day we went to a lake nearby for a swim, I loved it. Another time, we went to a limestone cave (very impressive stalactites and stalagmites) - something I will never forget. I was deeply impressed by the region. On quite a few afternoons I would also take the bus to Montpellier and walk around this beautiful city. During my stay, I was in the process of deciding my future career path and Ramon helped me a lot in reflecting on the path to choose. We had a lot of inspiring talks. At the end of my stay my family came to visit and we had tea togehter with everyone, it was a beautiful end to a stay that was much too short. If you have the chance to spend some time at this workaway, consider yourself blessed!!! I will return one day, there is no doubt in my mind! Thank you so very much, Ramon, Claire and Alexandre! Talk to you soon :)

Working with Blanche and Thomas was such a joy! Always in a good mood, ready to help out and take on new tasks, they fully invested every minute of their volunteering hours with us, helping us to take big steps towards opening the hostel. They are not afraid of getting dirty, whether with painting, sanding, varnishing, name it! Blanche also helped us out with graphic design for some signs for the hostel, which turned out great! They also participated in our little social gatherings, bonded with our local workers, and contributed to the feeling of community we always aim to create and maintain here. We full heartedly recommend them as volunteers. You can rest assured they will take care of your projects like their own. Come back to visit any time, you have a home in San Cristobal!

We stayed 1 month with Francisco and Angela and their beautiful family. We loved making breakfast for guests, we also worked a lot outside in the garden which was really appreciable with the beautiful weather. We had time to rest, enjoyed de lake and the wonderful view over the volcanoes. Angela and Francisco were very patient with our level of spanish and they helped us a lot to improve. We really felt like we were part of their family and this was really appreciable. We can only recommend this experience if you like being outside, and share amazing moments with a very kind family. Muchas Gracias !

Heidi and Des were our first Workaway hosts, and we honestly couldn’t have wished for a better experience! They were welcoming, helpful, and above all, kind and fun to be around. Even though we follow a vegetarian/vegan diet, they made sure we had everything we needed — we never felt like we were missing anything. The accommodation was lovely (best vintage caravan ever!) and surrounded by beautiful nature. The location was peaceful and perfectly situated near Skibbereen, and it was easy to get around the area by bike. When it came to organizing the work, Heidi and Des were very flexible. We mainly helped out in the garden, which was deeply satisfying and never too demanding. What we’ll treasure most is the time spent with them — they’re truly genuine, kind-hearted people. Thank you for showing us around, helping us discover new places, and welcoming us into your daily life, even if just for a little while!

This was our very first Workaway experience and we couldn't have asked for a better start! We spent three weeks with señora Alejandra and had an amazing time. I (Jakub) helped with various repairs — from electronics to plumbing — and also taught Alejandra how to use her new laser engraving machine. Patrycja assisted with creative and artistic activities. We both had the chance to do what we enjoy while learning many new things along the way. We also helped out in the garden, which was a nice and grounding part of our daily routine. Even though Alejandra doesn't speak English and our Spanish is still very basic, we had no major problems communicating. She spoke slowly and clearly, which helped us understand and express ourselves much better than we expected. She also recommended some great places to visit on the island and explained how to get there. The food Alejandra prepared for us was delicious and typically Canarian — we really appreciated every meal. The atmosphere during our whole stay was warm and relaxed, and we felt completely comfortable and at home. We’ll always have great memories of our time with Alejandra.

¡Muchas gracias, Pablo! ----------------- I have spent two weeks here. Pablo is a very energetic and enthusiastic guy full of knowledge about the nature surrounding us and of course about the starry sky a bit further away. At the same time two English women were visiting. We split the bill for the food and took turns cooking. The best meals were the ones from the campfire or wood stove pizza 😋. Pablo is eager to improve his English and extremely supportive to help his guests to develop the Spanish language in return. I have learned about bio construction, helped to maintain the grounds and picked fruits. Next to that we visited several places nearby (Iberá park and a bee keeper for example). I can really recommend a visit. Thank you very much Pablo!

"The Carribean Dream" What can I say about my time with Captain Daniel, Ramón, all the other lovely workers and of course the dogs x I had the best time working here. I chose this work away as I wanted to gain a bit of boat knowledge and I feel I got that and soo much more. I enjoyed all the different aspects of the job, from being on the pontoon greeting new people, preparing customers to go out on the kayaks and paddle boards and especially getting to join the boat cruises making sure the captain and guests had what they needed There are always things to do and be done around here. Its a very chilled relax working environment and as long as you show willing to learn and work hard it will open up so many opportunities in and around the sailing world. X

Daniel was an absolute pleasure to host and made a significant impact during his time with us. From the very beginning, he approached every task with enthusiasm, positivity, and a strong work ethic that truly stood out. Whether it was helping with general maintenance, assisting in more complex DIY building projects, or simply lending a hand wherever needed, Daniel consistently showed initiative and a genuine willingness to contribute. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him. What really impressed us was not only his skill and attention to detail, but also the sheer pace at which progress was made while he was here. With his help, we were able to tackle a long-standing list of maintenance tasks that had been building up, and for the first time in a while, we felt like we were ahead instead of constantly trying to catch up. His presence genuinely accelerated our workflow and boosted the morale of everyone involved. Beyond his practical contributions, Daniel was a joy to have around. He brought an upbeat, friendly energy to every part of the day and was always ready to connect, share stories, and bring laughter. His respect for the space, curiosity about the local culture, and easygoing nature made him fit in seamlessly with our family and team. We are incredibly grateful for the time Daniel spent with us, and trusting us even though we had few reviews, and cannot recommend him highly enough to other hosts. He would be welcome back anytime, and we sincerely hope to cross paths again in the future! Thank you, Daniel, for everything!

Anica was a great guest and helper. I think this was her 1st workaway but she fit right in. I appreciate her good nature, really wanting to learn, meticulous work, sharing of her thoughts and experiences, openness to adventure whether when work brings surprises (as building often does) or there's a spontaneous opportunity to see a fun side of the nature and community. Anica has a special strength, wisdom, compassion and more, beyond her years. As she says in her review of my hosting, my space is not the biggest, but it was easy with her. Lots of good times. Thank you so much.

A tree house in Tuscany! Grazie Lorenzo for the amazing stay! I painted, mowed, cleaned, dug and explored in Lucca to end my ver first winter in Europe and what a way to finish it. My last workwayer that season and it was truly a blessing to meet these hosts. New and refreshing experience that I needed. With summer around the corner and visitors coming back adventures to meet me. It made my experience all the more memorable and worth it in the end. Volunteering can be hard work. Again thank you for the experience and unfortunate it wasn't longer. Salute!

Enjoying the experience as it was is the key here during the winter. I know people go during summer time as to experience the theatre and surrounding area. The truly challenge here is to visit here during the winter months as the work will push you and challenge you. I walked away from this having built doors, a storage container and fixing things with the knowledge I had and was given I'll take that knowledge with me now and it will help me in the future. A different experience than others but learnt what I could and the short stay I had here. Bouna Fortuna!

Driven, headstrong, ambitious. I only hope I learnt some of these traits from Arturo during my stay here. Great attitude to practicality and its necessities. Farm work is never easy work. Especially for me doing it the first time. It was just nice to see finally what it is like as my grandfather lived his life in such a way. Miss you already Fratello. Thanks for helping me out and letting me assit you and learn something new from your trade. See you!

Colm and the recruits! What an exchange. From debating challenging topics to singing and dancing in the barn. Lovely guy, great spirit. Easy to see that the place he has built has had many visitors coming to enjoy the hospitality. As for me, it was a great pleasure to assist where I could with a roof over my head and some steady company. Chestnut pancakes. 8am SHARP. Cheers Colm, was a pleasure.
