Olha is a deeply lovely person and I was so happy she chose to come to the chateau: she is warm, caring, thoughtful, considerate, full of initiative and takes trouble to do whatever is asked of her properly. She is also highy creative and accomplished - she fitted right in to this artistic environment and always made valuable, interesting contributions to conversations. Everyone loved her. She helped with cooking, cleaning and gardening and was always positive and fun. Olha will be a great asset to whoever hosts her next.

Anna and Shaun are great couple who welcomed me wholeheartedly in their house in the countryside. I was there for two weeks. In this time Shaun went with us on a lot of outdoor adventures... hiking along the coast or in the Picos de Europa. With Anna I managed to get a little language exchange in because she wants to learn german and I wanted to practice some spanish. Of course there was also some work but it was very managable. The work in itsellf was very enjoyable from digging on the land to cement work but yet demanding on the body. Shaun also made shure to have a lot of variety of jobs during the weeks so that was great for body and mind. As a closing thought I just want to say that you really feel that they both are passionate about showing you the hidden gems around their new home in a way that you almost feel like family 😄

Saed was a joy to have around - full of curiosity, cheerful, conscientious, sociable and really funny. He had us in fits of laughter with his original take on things. He's a seasoned workawayer, so knows how to fit in with everyone and adapt to unfamiliar households too, and we were really pleased when he decided to stay on for a while. He made a big difference in the gardens here, taught another volunteer some Arabic and regaled everyone with some wonderful Jordanian feasts. I'd recommend Saed to all hosts.

Genki fue un voluntario con excelente disposición para aprender las tareas del hostel. Es una persona puntual, responsable y muy amable, con una linda actitud para relacionarse con otros voluntarios y huespedes.

I spent 6 wonderful days with Vittorio at his permaculture and sustainability project on the Tuscan Apennines. It was an amazing experience where I learned so much about gardening, cooking from scratch, and living a low-waste life. Vittorio is incredibly friendly, always ready to teach, and such a fun person to be around. Helping him felt less like a workaway and more like supporting a family member. We even bonded over our shared love for Geo Guesser, enjoying lovely evening competitions together. I highly recommend this place for anyone interested in learning natural agriculture, self-sufficiency, and vegetarian cooking while enjoying a warm and inviting atmosphere surrounded by nature.

Oh, we loved having Antoine around. He is down-to-earth, mindful, caring, quiet in a good way, very kind.... any of positive character trait would describe him perfectly. He was our good friend, our son, our fellow, our soul mate, our reminder of our younger self.... great time spending with him. Hope to see him again wandering around the world. I only have two warnings: 1. be careful about his cute smile, you will certainly miss it when he leaves :) 2. if it is a season for antlers and you have a lot of deer around your place, make sure you have enogh room for all the antlers this guy can find

I stayed with Mustafa for 3 weeks and had a blast. The volunteering is very relaxed. There are two lessons from 7:30pm to 9:30pm on Thursday and Friday and and from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday. Do account for the travel time which is about 45 minutes by metro each way. Most of the time you end up chatting with the attendees afterwards and so the total time spent would be 4-5 hours of your day. The rest of the time you have an enourmous amount of time to do whatever you want in Istanbul! Mustafa was barely home so I usually had the house to myself as I was also the only volunteer for most of the time. The volunteering work itself required little to no preparation. Mustafa sends worksheets to the groupchats and I briefly flicked through them to get an idea of the topic. Some of the long-time attendees suggested to focus on organic group conversations rather than following the worksheet which is what I ended up doing anyway. I just rocked up and chatted whatever. But it is important to not completely ignore the worksheet as some of the attendees would actually prepare responses to the worksheet questions as they were not very confident with their English. The groups were always around 4-10 people and their level of English severely varied. As a result, it was really beneficial sometimes to talk slowly and clearly with intentional pauses. The lessons happen at Mustafa's cafe where he will offer solely complimentary drinks (drink as much çay as needed!). The living situation is very fair. There is a spare bedroom with a bunk bed, Mustafa's bedroom and the living room where Mustafa prefers to sleep. Depending on the situation Mustafa is very open and willing to accomodate the volunteers in any arrangement that suits them all well. There is one shared bathroom with hot water and a small but functional kitchen. Food and water was my own responsibility which was totally fair as the work was almost nothing to me. Mustafa himself is very kind and helpful. I didn't talk to him a whole load in the 3 weeks and perhaps that's due to his English not being excellent or he is a bit shy but if I needed anything he would always be responsive and clear over text. I think I ended up talking to the cat Cersei more haha. She is very affectionate and lovely so if you really hate cats I would bare that in mind. Overall this was a fantastic volunteering opportunity if you really want to explore Istanbul. You have plenty of spare time to explore whilsts also making local friends and receiving lots of recommendations from them. Thank you tons Mustafa you are amazing, take care of yourself!!!

Alex stayed with us for three months and made a huge contribution during his time here. He took on a substantial building project, managing responsibilities far beyond what we usually expect from our Workawayers and he handled them exceptionally well. Alex not only did an amazing job on the project itself but also took the lead in guiding our other Workawayers through the process with patience and skill. His extensive knowledge of building, gardening, and tree care was a real asset to our property, and his work ethic and initiative were truly impressive. Beyond his practical skills, Alex was a pleasure to have around. He’s fun, easygoing, and brought a great energy to the house. The family and other Workawayers all enjoyed his company. We can’t recommend Alex highly enough, he’s hardworking, capable, and a genuinely great person to have as part of any team.

My stay with Ceylân was most memorable for so many reasons, where do I start…..A generous and considerate host, she has a commanding presence which inspires awe. Especially when you learn the backstory to the stupendous garden she has created around her house, perched on top of a hill in Mazi, that comes with a dominating view of the Gökova Gulf. Personally, it was a rare privilege to have been invited to stay with her, and humbling that she would entrust a gardening novice with some of the tasks, like pruning her glorious Bird of Paradise plants. Work was not hard, but it was not easy either. Mainly because volunteers would be working with the terrain, which was steep and sprawling. I rarely worked more than four hours each day, sometimes only three, because Ceylân was very conscious of the heat (even in October when it was supposed to have been cooler but the temperature went up a few degrees in the sun), and would often ask that I stopped work and rested, or invite me to join her for a swim in the sea down the hill. She is not a good cook - she is a EXCELLENT chef!!!! Cordon Bleu-certified no less. I looked forward to lunch everyday (and it’s not because I was hungry from the few hours of weeding), because she always prepared a thoughtful plate which was scrumptious and wholesome, and she always made sure it varied, so I got to taste a range of Turkish dishes. The accommodation she housed me in was considerably ‘luxurious’ by Workaway norms. Not just a room, that came with a view (and what a view it was!), but a whole cabin with a spacious room, bathroom, outdoor kitchen, and a porch with views to Datça peninsula and the nearby Greek island Kos. The best part of my work, though I didn’t consider it work at all but a bonus, was spending time with the dogs when Ceylân had an errand to run in town. Aira and Çörek were the best companions, and sometimes, Tonic, the elusive cat with a diva attitude, would show up when she wanted something done for her. My time at Ceylân’s was unforgettable and unlike the other workaways I have done. I would recommend her highly as a host to anyone who is looking to learn and have an enriching experience.

We hosted Toby for 2 weeks and it was a pleasure! He is very easy to have around, very motivated to do a good job and he works hard. Together we made two ornamental garden patches, cleared dead trees from our lake and re-pointed an old outdoor wall. He picks the tasks given, up very quickly and executes them with energy and great results. During meals we had a great time talking about all topics that passed by, from serious to silly. Would definitely recommend him and welcome him back next year!

It was an incredible, lovely, complete experience, I’d dare say. What they offer here beats an Erasmus exchange even though it’s shorter, six weeks in my case. The place is amazing. I’ve never seen nature like this. It won me over from the first moment: the colors, the roads, the mountains, and the surroundings make it a little treasure in northern Spain. I’ll definitely be back. The rooms were fully equipped. The accommodation, including the house and utilities, worked well. We had a car to get around (a game changer, especially for trips) from where we lived to the city where we worked for the NGO. The food is excellent and you have plenty of options for groceries. They also offer a range of unique sports activities and excursions to breathtaking places. Nacho is a big-hearted person and has so much to teach, by now a great and dear friend. The freedom you’re given is remarkable. The work is well structured: in our case a four-week workshop and a Meet&Code event, plus looking after social media and the website, along with other training activities or mutual support with the NGO’s other members. The key is knowing how to manage yourself! Everything hinges on team building, on how you click with each other, and the experience is based on sharing and self-organization to complete the NGO’s tasks, all with total freedom to decide schedules and structure the lessons (obviously with important and fair guidelines). I say it was a complete experience because, despite the inevitable communication issues (given international teams), we managed to develop the project and pursue the objectives with our own energy, and we all came out of it deeply changed and enriched as human beings. I am because you are; if you don’t believe in that, it’s better not to be there. The people we met all have big hearts and share the deeply ethical philosophy that shapes this one-of-a-kind NGO. Thank you every much and I miss you all so so much!! Take caaaaaaaaaree (easter egg “Atalaya musulmana siglo X”)

If you have any doubts don’t hesitate, come and live this experience! I don’t even know where to start in expressing my gratitude to Shamser and my admiration for what he does. I was lucky enough to volunteer at both Schools. In both places, the atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming, you immediately feel like you’re in a second home. The scenery is stunning, the food is amazing, and you’re surrounded by wonderful people. Most importantly, you truly feel that what you do for the school and the children has real value. I’m going back home feeling fulfilled and happy.

My stay at Julia's and Martin's home was very nice! Even though I was only there for a week, I was invited to be completely part of their daily life: collective meals, interesting chats and much more. So who wants to learn more about hungarian culture is at the right place here! :)

My first experience here on Workaway, and I had a good time. Rikki and Tiggs were great hosts. I stayed for almost two weeks, about twelve days, and I enjoyed helping them with their various projects. Interesting conversations and stories. St. Louis is a nice city. Lots of fun things to do during my free time. Stayed in a pretty cozy cargo container that's in the process of being converted into a living space during my time here, and in a relatively safe neighborhood. Overall a good experience. I wouldn't mind coming to Workaway here again.

I’m giving you 5 stars from my heart. ⭐️ I wish you all the luck in the world, and I hope you will come back to Thailand and visit me again. You are always welcome here. ❤️

I was staying 2 weeks with Fabian, Lara, Liam, Linda and her kids. I really enjoyed it. Even though my Spanish was not the best, they still made me feel really welcome in the family. The food was incredible also, some of the best I've had in Colombia so far, so the small contribution that I was paying per week for the food was nothing compared to what I got back :) The work was also varied enough to not get bored, sometimes a little heavy but for 4 hours a day I was happy to help build and work with Fabian. And then the activities and places to visit near San Gil where also awesome. I took some trips on myself, but they were also taking me with to go to the river or to skydive and many more. And lastly the kids and the animals (Kyara the dog) were so cute. I really loved playing with them or them just hanging around. 100% recommend :) Muchas gracias por invitarme a quedarme en tu hermosa casa 💞
