It has been very pleasant and inspiring to have someone like Rodrigo with us these last few days. We recommend his company and good work to all hosts who want to welcome a free spirit like Rodrigo on his Taoist journey through the world and the different people and cultures he encounters. You will not be disappointed, and his good energy will remain with you. As Rodrigo gives us all a parable or story full of wisdom and irony about Truth, we respond to him and the volunteers with another story that is sure to surprise and open your eyes in these increasingly dark times: ‘HOW A CAT ATE SOME WISE PARROTS’ (A fable for a humanity nearing its end). There is a story about a man who loved parrots and wanted to raise some that were special. So he bought three eggs and, as the parrots grew, he taught them music, physics, mathematics and philosophy. When the parrots grew up, they could recite those formulas and hum Beethoven's symphonies perfectly... But one day the man died, and someone put them in a tree outside the house. The parrots climbed the branches, taking a look at their new home. Then they saw another wild parrot and boasted: ‘We know everything. We know lots of formulas.’ The other parrot saw a cat approaching and said to them: ‘Can you fly?’ - Of course we know how to fly. When pressure is created on the underside of the wing, and there is low pressure on the top, we can fly. The other said: - No, I don't mean the Formula. Do you really know how to fly? - But with all we know, what importance can that have? - Well, what you don't know is what you really need to know, and because you don't know it, all your science will be of no use to you... I see that your master taught you many things, but he forgot to teach you the most important thing. Good luck! Obviously, the cat ate the wise parrots... 😜 By Prem Rawat MORAL: The wise parrots are Humanity and its misguided Toxic Technological Progress, while the wild, instinctive parrot that warns us would be Indigenous Cultures, Greta Thunberg, Just Stop Oil, or anyone who perceives the Climate Emergency and the approaching Collapse of Civilisation and dares to communicate it. And the cat that eats them? The cat is obviously anthropogenic climate chaos, which is causing mass extinction and the end of the crops that fed the world. A big hug, Rodrigo.

Thank you so much, Rich! During the two weeks at your place we had the time of our lives. Of course, the accommodation is very basic but we got used to it quickly. We had a lot of fun spending time with Rich, his three dogs and his parrot. The whole island between the ocean and canal is pretty unique. We had the chance to get in touch with the local community, help out at the turtle rescue program next door every day and went on a boat trip trough the mangrove and out into the ocean. The area is the home of countless wild animals as birds, iguanas, dolphins or turtles, which we were lucky to see from up close. We never felt pressured to spend all day working. So even though there was always work to do, there was enough time for going surfing, paddle boarding or just chilling in the pool. We really enjoyed that Rich plants his own fruits, so there were always fresh coconuts and bananas available for free. We definitely recommend joining Rich at his house, if you’re up for staying at a tranquil and remote place surrounded by nature.

My week with Clare went by so fast. The work schedule is really well organized, with about five hours a day, and it’s easy to get into a nice routine. Most of the tasks this time were weeding and preparing the garden beds, as well as collecting horse manure for compost. We always cooked with fresh ingredients from the garden and took turns with cooking and washing up. There’s no Wi-Fi, which actually makes it the perfect place to slow down and disconnect for a bit. Having a car is convenient but not essential, although public transport is limited. The property is absolutely beautiful, like something out of a fairy tale, and Clare herself is an inspiring, free-spirited, and incredibly strong woman. She’s patient, calm, warm-hearted, and very open. Afternoons are free to relax or explore, and I truly had a wonderful week despite the hard garden work. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience honest work, country life, and great company surrounded by nature, good food, and two lovely horses. To Clare: Thanks for having me, it was an honour, and I’m really glad you chose me. I hope the edges won’t grow back too quickly!

Kieran is the perfect workaway host, if you ask me. Due to his many years of experience hosting people and traveling by himself, he seems to know exactly what you need as a traveler. It starts with good meals accommodation and goes on with his unique ability to connect with each of his many guests on a personal basis. He's a fascinating storyteller and always provides you with interesting stories about the many places he visited, the people he met or of course everything about Stanwell Park and the Area. But he is also interrested in listening to his guests about their backround or their thougts and opinions. I can only recommend to visit Kieran in Stanwell Park and get to know this inspiring Guy and usually you don't see places like his Property! Best Manuel

It was such a pleasure to have Vy come and help us at the end of our bed and breakfast season. It was the first time we had a professional chef in our kitchen, and it was a real delight. Vy is an exceptional chef, extremely creative and talented, as well as calm and collected. It was truly a pleasure to watch her work. She also helped with our social media and with some amazing dinners at night. She would be welcome back here anytime, and any host would be lucky to have her.

Thank you so much Laurence for those few weeks! There I participated to the construction of an eco-consctructed kitchen for the volunteers. I was able to express my creativity in experimenting with cob drawing/sculpting and discovered one artistic expression in which I wasn't so bad! Laurence provided us with everything with needed and was very generous. Her basketball + the village basketball court made me soooo happy! The direct access to the sea is such a luxury and the quiet of the place inspires to reflection and peacefulness. In this haven I really wish to come back in the coming years and participate again in her beautfiul project.

This was my best volunteering experience so far! Silke and Nick are amazing hosts, very genuine, welcoming, flexible, appriciating, interesting... I wish we had more time to get to know each other. I usually prefer to explore new places, but there are some exceptions that became so close to my heart I feel the call to visit back, and I believe that this place is one of them. I had so much fun during the harvest, was really great group of volunteers. I really appriciated Silke's and Nick's attitude during the harvest, treating us equally, friendly and appriciating each one's personality and capacity. And I fell in love with the land, the olive grove was so beautiful, with old mighty olive trees, lot's of mantises to photograph :) and such a nourishing energy of the land. Thank you so much for this experience!

I had an amazing time and great experiences volunteering in Salaverry. The host Shegu is super friendly and helpful, and also quite flexible, I apreciate it very much that I could very spontaneously start earlier. You can use the sandboards and surfboards anytime and for example go for a sunset surf or sandboarding. The work itself was also awesome because it didn't feel like you work just do some work, it feels like you are actually doing something nice. In the morning we were digging holes to plant trees since it is quite dry there and the town could need some trees and plants. In the afternoon we were teaching the children either sandboarding, surfing or english. The kids are eager to learn, curious, welocming and thankful. It was super nice to teach them. And it was also quite nice to improve my spanisch since the host and the kids don't speak much english and also improved my spanisch in the english classes for the kids. All in all a a great experience 😀

It's a great place. The hosts are kind and welcoming. We speak a lot of English in class, so I think I'll naturally improve my English.

my volunteer stay in Patrice's Surfhouse was amazing. I learnt a lot about car pentry, some Spanish skills, about his culture and family, playing ukulele and and and. we had a nice time (work and free time!) I can totally recommend this place if you are looking for a nice working place with family vibes. Also for me (I'm not a surfer) it was perfect. I will definitely come back and can totally recommend Patrice 😊

My one-month experience in Kenya with Bonface was truly special! From the very first day, I felt welcomed and part of the family — Bonface is incredibly kind, caring, and always ready to help. The accommodation is simple and different from European standards, but it’s easy to get used to and it’s all part of the authentic local experience. Days at the center were always different and well-organized. There was always something meaningful to do, and the local volunteers were amazing — very friendly, helpful, and great with the kids. They make you feel like a real part of the team and the whole organization, not just a visitor. It was an experience full of personal growth, smiles, sharing, and discovery. I truly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Kenya in an authentic way and be part of a project with a big heart.

This will be another positive review to add to all the others, but that’s exactly what Ronald, Rachel, and little Julia deserve. They are an incredible family: they took care of me from the very first day, and I have never felt unsafe with them. I stayed in Uganda for four weeks: the project is wonderful and as described here on the platform, the children are amazing and Uganda is a truly beautiful country. Ronald is knowledgeable, passionate, and talented : I will miss his positivity and perseverance. Rachel is such a strong woman and mother : I will miss her morning omelette. I wish you all the best and hope to see you again someday. WEBALE❤️
