I stayed at Vittorio’s farm for a few days. He really is a nice person, kind, funny and respectful. He is very eager to teach what he knows, and also is a really good teacher. He always took the time to explain the tasks in a pedagogic way. I enjoyed picking wild herbs, working in the forest and in the garden with plants. He also makes a lot of food and cooks everything by himself which I found quite impressive: chocolate bars and paste, sourdough and bread, delicious vegetarian dishes, pesto, tinned tomato sauce. He is passionate and really good at what he does. Thank you for the stay Vittorio! 😊

The experience with Miran, Maja and Faris has been unbelievable. Best host I've ever encountered on Workaway, you become part of the family and you learn a lot of things about Mostar and Bosnia. The hostel is very clean and cozy in a beautiful area of town, I cannot recommend this place enough!

Allison was very self reliant and independent to ensure she had what she needed and stepped in to help out as she could. She managed her things and ensured to honor the time she gave to involve with the gardens and assist the gardener himself.

I stayed with Beatriz, Marco and their three lovely daughters for a month and a half and it was a delight. The whole family is really nice and welcoming. Their daughters are very enthusiastic, joyful and a pleasure to spend time with. I enjoyed crafting, sewing and playing games with them. I felt like part of the family while also being very autonomous. Marco and Beatriz were really respectful of my independence and privacy. They are really flexible, which allows for a lot of initiative and creativity. The house is beautiful, and the area offers a lot of opportunities to enjoy nature, walks - while being not too far from Turin. Thank you Beatriz and Marco! I’m looking forward to coming back soon ☺️

Sono stata con Lorena e la sua famiglia per circa un mese e mezzo durante l’inverno del 2024, e posso dire che è stata una delle esperienze più belle e significative della mia vita. Lorena è una persona davvero speciale: forte, coraggiosa, dolce e generosa — una vera mamma italiana. Mi sono sentita accolta e a casa fin dal primo giorno. Il lavoro è sempre stato leggero e piacevole, perché con lei tutto diventava semplice. L’ho aiutata nella cura della casa, ho fatto qualche piccolo lavoro con la legna nell’agriturismo di famiglia, mi sono occupata del giardino e ho anche restaurato una panchina nel parcheggio davanti a casa. Le mattine erano magiche: facevamo passeggiate nei dintorni, e lei mi raccontava storie meravigliose sulla sua vita e sulla Toscana. Mi ha anche aiutata molto con la lingua italiana, con tanta pazienza e affetto — un dono che porterò sempre con me. Se avete l’opportunità di restare con Lorena, non esitate: vivrete un’esperienza autentica, piena di calore umano. Spero davvero di tornare un giorno. Lorena cara, grazie di cuore per tutto e un abbraccio caloroso dal Brasile! 🤗🇧🇷

Our first Workaway experience couldn’t have been better. We came for a week and stayed a month. Kama and Hirek are warm, inspiring hosts who made us feel at home from the start. The place is beautiful — peaceful nature, cozy accommodation, and great atmosphere. We learned a lot while helping: permaculture gardening, food preserving, some DIY and even bit of garage magic with Hirek. We enjoyed fresh veggies from the garden, mushroom picking, shared meals, and evenings by the fire. We left with new skills, wonderful memories, and friendships we truly value. Thank you — we will return one day;)

Grady and Erica are a lovely, calm and caring couple whom I would highly recommend to any potential host or employer. Their maturity and life-experience make them valuable assets, as they can both quickly adapt to a variety of tasks. Not only were they helpful with outdoor projects, but they have excellent skills in the kitchen. Grady also taught me a lot about bread making and Erica managed to get my old sewing machine functioning. They were punctual, respectful, tidy and willing to be flexible with times while we were juggling complex projects. It was a pleasure to host them both and I’m very grateful for the help they provided . I wish them all the best for their time Down Under and hope they’ll visit us again.

This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn't have hoped for better. There were a lot of volunteers this year and they managed to organise all the activities seemlessly. They were simply the best hosts providing amazing authentic home made food (Grazie Angela 🙏), all the necessary amenities and excellent communication with the volunteers.We got to peer into real Italian life through being with the family and the wine festival. The accommodation was a converted shed for two of us and a room in house for the other three volunteers. I had no problem sleeping there and although rustic it had everything we needed. There was a big kitchen and a small porch which was good for socialising. The shower required a bit of organisation with it taking 30mins to get hot water again. The washing machine was broken and they very kindly did washing runs for our laundry everyday. The work was easy get your hands on and therapeutic. The only requirement being teamwork in order to place and collect nets as well as switching roles. However, it is physical work so you might want to bear that in mind before coming here. I just want to say a big thank you to Sandra, Leandro, Angela, Giuseppe, Giordano. Spero che ci rivedremo in futuro. Magari con uno o due dei miei amici. Vi mando un abbraccio da lontano. —Michael

A truly heartwarming first Workaway experience!!. I really enjoyed the time I spent with this family. It was my first Workaway, and also the first time I’d ever been welcomed into a home by people I didn’t know. I’m incredibly thankful that it was with Sibylle, Damian, and their wonderful kids Maruan and Elian — because it was a truly great experience. From the very beginning, they made me feel comfortable and welcomed. Sibylle and Damian are a great couple — smart, curious, and experienced travelers with fascinating stories that always lead to interesting conversations. Their Mexican-German background creates a beautiful cultural blend, and their kids are the lively, intelligent, and joyful result of that mix. I’ll miss their company and the dinners we shared. Leaving wasn’t easy. I still remember how special it felt to arrive as a stranger in a place that quickly felt like home. As for the city — it wasn’t originally part of my travel plans. I ended up there spontaneously, and I’m so glad I did. It was a wonderful surprise: colorful, vibrant, full of delicious food, music, and great energy. And staying in their beautiful Mexican house, close to everything, with a lovely view and lovely people, made it even better. There was always something fun to do. From my heart I truly recommend this host to anyone looking for warmth, connection, and a memorable experience.

Ellen Maria is an amazing host and part of a wonderful community. She always made sure I was always comfortable, felt welcome & at home and is incredibly wise, with poise and very hilarious. She always ensured I was getting the most out of the experience, even while being busy as an academic, and I really enjoyed the housework. I really appreciated the effort she put in to introduce me to people as well as establish contacts for some work I was doing also. Kautokeino is so special, a place that requires respect and care, yet offers back in return amazing nature, skies with colours that totally engulf you and a unique atmosphere. I don’t think the shifting seasons have ever spoken so loudly before! My time there felt sparkling. I’d actually recommend guests have a genuine understanding about Sami history and colonial struggles before coming however, to be best placed to come in with care & intention. But, great people and it's so so fun. You will also learn so much being there. I spent some days at the house alone while Ellen Maria was away for work. Good central location with walking distance to university, museums, shops- always felt totally safe. So, this would also be a great place to go for house sitting / whilst helping with stuff on the house. Absolutely loved the time spent - thank you!

Estuve una semana con Paz y su familia y pasé un tiempo maravilloso. ¡Todos son muy amables y se esfuerzan para que uno se sienta bienvenido! El trabajo es tranquilo; principalmente estuve ayudando en el jardín. Además, fuimos a un lago, al mercado y a la ciudad más cercana. Al mediodía hay deliciosos platos chilenos caseros para recargar energías. ¡Una excelente oportunidad para conocer más sobre la cultura chilena y la vida cotidiana de las personas!

Martin was an absolute pleasure to have helping at the farm. He stayed with us for a little over two months, and the time flew by far too quickly! From the very beginning, he fit right in with the rhythm of the farm and our family. He approached every task with enthusiasm and care, whether it was helping with daily farm work, assisting in projects, or lending a hand wherever needed. Martin is responsible, hardworking, and curious to learn, always eager to understand the “why” behind what he was doing. He’s kind, easygoing, and genuinely interested in connecting with people. We’re very grateful for all his help and good spirit; thank you! we wish you all the best on your next adventures and hope to see you again one day!

Elisa was a great help during her stay here. She contributed to the development of this project both inside and outside the house. I got on very well with her; she is a friendly, helpful and curious girl. I really hope she can come back! Thanks again 💚

Nana was absolutely wonderful to have with us here! 🌿 She took such good care of Abbe — with love, patience, and responsibility — and we felt completely safe and comfortable with her. Always ready to help out wherever needed, she showed great curiosity and enthusiasm for learning both our language and our culture. Nana brought calmness and joy into our home and quickly became a valued part of our little family. We can warmly recommend her to any future hosts and would be more than happy to welcome her back anytime! 💛

The week Yuri and Eugénie stayed here was a great time for our family. They cheerfully helped with variety kinds of tasks, even when they had no prior experience of and each project made big progress. It was also helpful that they played with our 6 years old daughter every day. She looked very happy that she could play lots of thing. During lunch and dinner, we were able to talk many different topics with them, and hearing their perspectives was stimulating for us too. Thank you for coming and hope to see you again!

Esta experiencia ha sido increíble para mí. He conocido a gente genial. El trabajo es muy agradable. Me he ocupado de los perritos y caballos. Hemos hecho la limpieza de la hacienda para dar la bienvenida a los huéspedes. He preparado los desayunos, servido las comidas y hecho la traducción para los paseos a caballo con Elmer. Los horarios son muy flexibles y variables, también tuve mucho tiempo libre. Pude aprovechar para montar a caballo e ir a ver las alpacas ¡era muy divertido! Hay ruinas pre incas detrás de la hacienda que se puede ir a ver. Y desde el campo se tiene la vista de las islas Uros. Bien pensar que la comida no es proporcionada y por lo tanto hay que hacer las compras en Puno antes de venir al campo. Muchas gracias a Zézé Elmer y José por su acogida y simpatía. Nos reímos 😊

Claire and Gloria are 2 angels that came when I needed them the most. Beyond loving with my dogs and me, helpfull, beautiful energy, clean, organized, comprehensive, easy going. We will ALL miss them and cant wait to see them again. I couldnt recommend them more!

J'ai passé un mois et demi génial avec cette famille dans ce petit coin à côté d'almuñecar, et je ne pouvais pas m'attendre à mieux. C'était mon premier voyage en solitaire et je suis tombé au bon endroit pour débuter ce périple :) Une expérience super enrichissante, pleine de découverte et de bons moments que je n'oublierai jamais. J'ai pu participer à plein d’activités variées comme cueillir des mangues (et apprendre à en faire de la confiture ainsi qu’à les sécher), mettre de l’engrais, arroser les plantations, faire un peu de peinture, m'occuper des poules, de la piscine, prendre soins des arbres fruitiers, et j'en passe...J’ai aussi pu cuisiner des bons repas. Grâce à eux, j’ai découvert plein de choses que je n’avais jamais faites avant, comme partir en bivouac, faire une rando dans les rivières, et j’ai même pu profiter de la mer qui se trouve juste à côté . Les paysages étaient juste magnifique et si je devrais revenir dans le Sud de l'espagne je reviendrai dans ce coin car il me reste encore pleins de choses à découvrir... Autant dire que je me suis créée de très beaux souvenirs !!! La famille est vraiment adorable et accueillante. On se sent directement à l’aise avec eux et j’ai adoré partager leur quotidien, les repas, les discussions, travailler ensemble... Merci pour votre bonne humeur, votre patience, votre générosité et tous les moments partagés. Je repars avec le sourire, des nouvelles compétences et l’envie de revenir sans hésiter. ( et aussi je pense que j'ai mangé mon quota de mangue pour l'année entière mais bon c'était les meilleurs que j'ai jamais mangé ;) Je recommande cette famille à 100 % à toute personne qui veut vivre un woofing enrichissant et authentique 😆

Nuestra experiencia trabajando con Bruno fue muy buena, un excelente trabajador, pintó las paredes de la casa de madera, por lo que tuvo que lijar y proteger la madera primero y después dar tres manos de pintura . Es matemático, entonces hizo las proporciones de las pinturas súper bien. Y trabajo más de lo que nosotros pedimos. Agradecemos muchísimo la gran ayuda que nos dio el mes que pudimos compartir. Pudo disfrutar de algunas comidas tradicionales y alguna fiesta en el vecindario. Su actitud siempre fue positiva y servicial. Dejando limpia la habitación y cocina, aún que casi no cocinaba, estoy segura que disfruto mucho la ciudad y su comida.

This was my first 2-week work away experience and it was a life-changing one. Stefan, Betti, Carsten and Anton have been and are lovely and warm souls. They have made me feel like at home and we still keep in touch today. I have learnt a lot about sustainability, farming, animal care and living in harmony with the nature. We worked together, cooked and cleaned together. I have also learned to just be, something which is so important in this crazy fast life. I am grateful for this opportunity to know them, which helped me know myself a little bit better. I recommend them with all my heart!
