My time in Cody was so incredibly wonderful. Rebekah and Rob made me feel welcome right away and made it clear that although work was definitely expected, there was a lot of flexibility for me to plan around when planning other trips and activities in the area. They answered all my questions, helped me with some supplies for hiking, and connected me with people in the area during my stay. The lodging was more than enough with a private bedroom and a shared bathroom. I cooked, cleaned, and did yard work. I would say it all averaged out to about 4 hours of work a day throughout my stay with some full days of work while guests were at the center and some days where I hiked all day and came back to do an hour of work. I also got two full days off each week. Overall, this is a really great Workaway opportunity in an incredibly beautiful and lively area. This was my first Workaway and I highly recommend this experience for anyone but especially for those doing their first one.

I had the pleasure of volunteering with Chantal and Emanuel. It has truly been a wonderful experience. Chantal took such good care of my son and me while we stayed with her. She cooked delicious meals for us and was, in every possible way, helpful, welcoming, and simply lovely company! And she has the sweetest animals, whom you get to share your daily life with as a volunteer 😊 I can highly recommend volunteering with Chantal ❤️

We had a truly wonderful experience hosting Ahmad; he was excellent company and a great presence in our home. It was fascinating to learn about his culture and daily life through his stories, which gave us deep insight into his country and way of living. Ahmad was exceptional with our animals, caring for our 6 dogs, 2 cats, and 4 chickens with incredible love and attention. He was also a responsible housesitter, following all our rules diligently—which is crucial given the complexity of managing the animals, solar panels, batteries, and generator. The weather didn't cooperate for much outdoor work, but during the first few days, he was an enormous help with the firewood. He diligently carried it from the cutting area to the woodshed, where he meticulously sorted it into dry and wet piles and stacked it perfectly. We are extremely happy with this experience and recommend him without reservation. We wish Ahmad all the very best in his upcoming adventures!

Syriac and Serena stayed with us for two weeks in October/November 2025. They are hard workers and is up for any tasks! They both did some work in our garden, cleaned and organized our house and garage, and painted some furniture. All done great! We had a great time together around the dinner table and wish you all the best on the rest of your honeymoon!

My son and I had two fantastic months here. Alice is an amazing host and a wonderful person. She is always smiling and greets you warmly no matter how busy she is or what she’s in the middle of, and she is always grateful for your efforts. She cares wholeheartedly for both her animals and the people around her. As a volunteer with Alice, you’re given plenty of responsibility, and you quickly discover how rewarding the work you put into the place truly is. They have my warmest recommendations, and I will forever miss all the lovely animals and people I met there 🥹❤️❤️❤️ Nina, Olaf, Ludmilla, Gavino, Chiara, Silfi, Dolo, Amber, Peppa, Ozzy... all 🥹🫶

We hosted Guy for 3 weeks for the harvest and it was great having him. Guy was reliable and showed up with calm strength. In the fields he was always constant in his effort, manipulating the machine (lanara) most of the time. We appreciated his presence and enjoyed great conversations with him. Overall, a great person who would fit in well in multiple workaway settings. Thank you Guy for joining us in the harvest, wishing you the best!

I had a really lovely time staying with Mandi and Craig. The area is lovely with beautiful mountain walks and river swimming nearby. It’s very easy to travel to Upper Hutt or Wellington by public transport too. Mandi and Craig were very welcoming and really interesting to talk to. Mandi was always willing to give me recommendations of fun things to do and even took me to a few places which she thought I would enjoy which was really great. Overall I found my time very relaxing and fun!

Harim is very kind and helpful. Whenever I had questions, or in trouble (like being locked out), he was always ready to help. I really enjoyed Chaimaa's cooking, and it was a great privilege to have the chance to communicate with Moroccan students who are learning English. It gave me a chance to reflect on myself, as I was asked so many questions lol I will always remember the teachers, who were always friendly and welcoming. I liked them all ! I was also lucky to have met the other volunteers, who were really amazing. It was fun to learn about other cultures and different perspectives. I also liked the message left on the table. It was something like: “Make yourself at home, but remember it’s not your home.” It reminded me of the importance of courtesy—cleaning up after yourself. I hope everyone comes and stays with this mentality. Also, Harim’s warnings, especially regarding interactions with Moroccan men, were very accurate—don’t get too close, and avoid walking alone outside at night. I really appreciated his honesty about both the good and challenging aspects of life there. I also really, really enjoyed the trips to Chefchaouen and the Sahara Desert. Thank Jawad for driving safely and being patient with us. I also had the chance to visit the animal farm. These were all memorable and beautiful experiences for me. I truly want to thank Harim for making all of this possible, and I hope to see him again in the near future, Inshallah.

We have been at the Sarja microsanctuary for 3 weeks and can highly recommend it! :) Emma & Raquel introduced us very welcoming to all the animals and they showed us how to take care of them. So from the first day on you will get hands-on experience and have the chance to take care for those lovely animals. Daily work is giving water, food, cleaning & letting the animals out/put them back into their sleeping place. As you are working with animals, you need to do your work carefully and trustworty - but we can tell you, it is so rewarding! After some time you get to know the different characters of the animals and you will laugh a lot :D Futhermore, you will cook one or the other day for everyone (everyone cooks one time or the other). You can therefore look forward to delicious vegan food :)) Something you need to be aware of is that you 1) bring working cloths including hiking boots and 2) that if you rely on public transport you need to organise yourself well in order to spend your freetime at the coast. Or try hitchhiking :P

This Workaway experience was exactly what I had hoped for. The living environment, the beauty of nature, the abundance of fun and activities, and the wonderful cultural exchange go without saying. This time, I was deeply interested in spontaneously trusting everyone I met unconditionally and engaging in communication beyond language barriers. I am truly grateful to Nacho for giving me the opportunity to interact with so many people. One month is ample time to receive, but far too short to give back. I hope that Nacho, the other involved people, and the children recognize our days together as the starting point for a relationship that will continue.

Ines was the best volunteer any host could ask for. She delivered much more than what I was expecting. Ines (and her awesome (and brilliant) daughter, Iris) volunteered with us for about two weeks. They assisted with some gardening and landscaping activities in our henequen and bamboo gardens. Ines was always on time for work and motivated to learn. Furthermore, her lovely smile, friendliness, and amazing Spanish, allowed her to blend in well with the locals and make many new friends. However, what impressed me most was that Ines was extremely respectful, not only of me, my family, and my land, but for the Mayan people and culture. She asked many questions and tried many new things without hesitation. Additionally, she and her daughter worked as a team. Often, they had to work in the hot sun, but never did they complain about the heat nor the task they were completing. I must also mention that Ines showed courtesy by cleaning/ tidying up the sleeping quarters before she checked out. I totally was not expecting this. Finally, the work that Ines and her daughter completed made a beautiful impact on our property. You can tell that the work was done with love and care. As a host, I really appreciate their attention to detail. I am hoping that one day, they can return because we had some great memories working (and learning) together. I am so lucky to have been matched with Ines and her daughter. If you are matched with this dynamic duo, consider yourself lucky. You won't regret it.

I spent a little less than two weeks at the family house with Barbara and two of her children in September. I had the opportunity to complete a project of building a 'Hochbeet', and otherwise take care of the garden and sometimes cook. I am super grateful for Barbara for having me there, I absolutely felt part of the household and family:). She was also super helpful with my German learning journey, we actually only spoke in German that helped me fight my fear of speaking the language. It wasn't a surprise though as she's a teacher and also volunteers in a language café, where I could also participate and practise my German with people with various backgrounds. Moreover, I could hear and learn a lot about their journeys. I really hope to return once and contribute with something more to the family:). Thank you!

I spend six weeks with Sophia, Zoé and Luna. It was an amazing experience and I am super happy I was able to meet such sweet people and share a great time with them! I felt very welcome and included in their family. We spend lots of nice evenings in the kitchen and shared many laughs. Sophia is a very inspiring and interesting person that I could have great conversations with and I learned a lot during my stay. Zoe is a super funny and active kid and I laughed a lot with her. She can spend great time on her own but also is very creative in finding new things to do! Luna the dog is so sweet and social, always making me smile when I saw her. I spend some great weeks with them and I was really sad when I had to leave. I really recommend them to anyone who is looking for culture, fun and lots of love. Denia is a beautiful place and I enjoyed many walks around the area. Thank you so much for the great time I hope to see you again!

Robert and Federica are a nice couple. They arrived at our place in their own camper. While staying in our homestead, they completed every task with care. Also we had a great time together, sharing conversations, experiences, and knowledge, spended free time and cooked together Italian and Llatvian food. They are easy-going and responsible. They also took care of our homestead while we were away for a couple of days. Thank you, Robert and Federica! We wish you all the best in finding the next meaningful chapter of your journey.

My friend Elena and I spent three amazing weeks at Connie and Wolfgang's little paradise as a first workaway experience. We felt quickly at ease with them, since they were so welcoming and kind to us. The place is truly beautiful, and the caravan is beyond comfortable, you will for sure sleep good. We had the chance to work on various projects there, including building the bamboo roof for an outdoor kitchen, picking up stones, crafting bamboo insect hotels, planting cabbage and finally starting with the olive harvest ! All of it was a pleasure and so was sharing meals and quality time with Connie and Wolfgang. Connie is an amazing cook and every meal was delicious 😋. We had a great time and lots of interesting conversations, lots of laughter too. Their seven dogs are adorable and it was a unique experience witnessing a dog pack's dynamic. I would gladly recommend Connie and Wolfgang's workaway to anyone who is not too afraid of big dogs ! Thank you for everything, I will remember this experience all my life. 💕

Raphael is a lovely young man with a great personality and attitude to life. We found him to be very polite, respectful and always has a big smile on his face. He is a very willing worker and has the initiative to get on with whatever project he was doing. We wish him well with his next workaway experience and they will be very lucky to have him.

Lukas was a great workawayer. We touched base several times but we were not able to schedule a video call. Fortunately, Lukas persisted and we were able to connect and he stayed with us for a week. He was very easy to get along with during his stay, worked hard and could work independently. He helped with cleaning, installing flooring and he even helped re-shingle a small roof. We would have him back any time as he was a welcome addition.
