Mr. Sean is a truly animal-loving, caring, and compassionate person. During his short stay with us, he displayed great maturity, kindness, and respect in every interaction. Although his time was unexpectedly cut short due to visa issues, he made the most of it by building a meaningful connection with us and showing genuine concern for our community animals. We are especially grateful for his generous donation, which went directly towards purchasing food for the animals. His contribution made a real difference and reflected his sincere commitment to animal welfare. We wholeheartedly wish Mr. Sean the very best in all that he does. We truly hope to welcome him back in the near future so he can once again collaborate with us and continue supporting our community animals. He was a wonderful volunteer, and we are thankful for his kindness and generosity.

Your impact on the preschool children and teachers was beautiful because your patience, creativity, and warmth gave them moments of joy in learning. With the women’s group, you brought not only support and encouragement, but also genuine friendship, sharing your skills while listening with such kindness and openness, that allowed for safe space! What truly touched us most, however, was the way you embraced the local culture and daily life. You allowed the community to welcome you wholeheartedly, and you quickly became part of the family. That mutual exchange of love and trust is what makes experiences like these so meaningful. Even though we are still young in some ways, people like you give us strength and inspiration to keep moving forward by building our safe space for creating a world a kinder one. Izzie & Julia spent with us two weeks and I count them among my best helpers ever. They are very communicative, responsible, proactive and reliable in performing autonomusly all given tasks. Their help varied from cleaning windows, weeding, mulching strawberry beds, collecting herbs and flowers for drying, helping with cooking and making preserves, preparing fruits for vinegar, picking mashrooms etc. We also had interesting conversations and fun time at the table. They loved playing with our cats and dogs. I can truly recommand them both to any host. Thank you girls 🙏😀

From the very first moment, your energy and smile lit up the house and the community. It’s hard to believe this was your very first Workaway, because you fit in so naturally and gave so much of yourself. The children, the women, and everyone you met could feel your warmth, kindness, and openness. Your willingness to embrace daily life here, with all its joys and little challenges, showed a maturity beyond your years. We all miss you dearly and your presence left a big space in our family, but we’re also so grateful for the memories and impact you left behind. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, for your sensitivity and humor, and for reminding us how beautiful it is when someone arrives as a volunteer and leaves as family. Karibu tena, Linnea! We stayed at this place for two weeks, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The people working there are very welcoming and warm-hearted. We quickly felt like part of the team and truly enjoyed the daily life, which included great conversations, playful banter, physical work, playing games, and not least many wonderful shared meals. As for projects, we picked pears, did forestry work, cleaned yurts, worked in the garden, and helped with other everyday tasks. We brought our own campervan, which worked out really well, and there were all the facilities one could wish for – electricity, showers, laundry, and more. We will truly miss the place and all the amazing people we got to know! We highly recommend others to come to this place! ⭐️

My time at this place showed me a life full of joy. The resident welcomed me with open arms and big smiles from the first day. Although it was hard to communicate due to the language barrier, I felt welcomed at all times. I am beyong grateful for this opportunity and for each and every one of the community memebers for welcoming me into their space and daily life. That being said, I believe this experience could be even more wonderful and meaningful for someone who speaks German or is trying to improve their German as there is alot to learn from each of the community members and their professions . The nature around is beautiful and walking in the black forest in a natural part of daily life here. The food was delicious and there is alot to learn from the different residence and their cooking expertise. The work varied from cleaning, cooking, dishes, gardening and genera maintenance of the land. Meditation, yoga and mantra singing is ingrained in their lifestyle. If your looking for a place to be reminded of the beauty and joy in life, both through nature, and people, this is it. Thank you. You will be remembered.

I had an really nice stay at Marios and Izaskuns farm. I didn't have communication problems with them because they were able to speak German and English. The food was delicious and everybody was friendly. I did a lot of painting which was quite interesting.

Nick and Mike’s farm is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in British culture. During my time there, I had the chance to take on a wide variety of tasks – from harvesting, watering, and planting vegetables in the greenhouse, to loading hay bales, digging up potatoes, building a raised bed at a local school, and weeding. Nick can be a little gruff in the mornings, but he lightens up as the day goes on. He is highly intelligent, not only in farming matters but in general, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge generously. Several other volunteers also work on the farm throughout the week, which makes the experience lively and never dull. The lifestyle is rustic and the kitchen can be a bit messy at times, but that’s part of the charm. Overall, it’s a very rewarding and enriching experience that I would definitely recommend.

I stayed with Camille for two weeks (that turned into three because I just couldn’t leave!) in May and it was a truly magical stay. I didn’t expect that my first Workaway experience would leave such a mark deep in my heart but I really enjoyed meeting the family and friends and see the beautiful surroundings of NY. I could work independently with different tasks around the garden - preparing for a new summer season, building low fences with sticks, organising in the garage, digging up weeds etc. It was also very nice to visit friends and family around and go watch the kids play soccer (eh, SO talented?!), not to mention all the cuddles from the cute animals! I loved our deep conversations, experimenting with sourdough and watching my favourite guilty pleasure tv-shows together! There is so much I have taken with me from this stay. Many wise words and realisations, so much inspiration for using everything around us in nature - preserving, drying, making jams out of both flowers and weeds, living this harmonious life on the countryside. I am very grateful for having met Camille and the fam, and there is no doubt about that our paths will meet again and again and again <3

We had a good time in Caroline's place. We had the chance to feel at home in Vietnam, we bonded with people from the village and we used our time doing several activities: from teaching to playing with kids or painting and building bamboo furnitures! I liked that we felt kind of autonomous and at the same time we collaborated a lot with other voulunteers to keep going with the schedule. We had time to explore the beautiful area around and also to carry on personal activities. We think Caroline's project is ambitious and positive for the village. Thank you very much also to all the beautiful people we met, it was a great team ♡.

It's hard to summarize what an amazing experience this place is.. I spent ~2 months here over the summer mostly doing housekeeping. The work is super fair given all you're getting in exchange (3 delicious, professionally prepared vegetarian meals, a comfy bed in a wonderful community, and proximity to some beautiful/quiet swimming spots). I quickly felt like it was my home too and I wanted to take care of it so the work was enjoyable for me/a nice practice of reciprocity. I'm also at the start of my journey as a yoga teacher and Ema was so incredibly encouraging of this so I got to teach morning classes here which was really special for me! The community is so open and caring, the owners/management are lovely people and I really found myself evolving positively as a person from sharing space with them. The type of guests/volunteers this place attracts are all so interesting so you'll definitely meet some cool individuals and (personally) some lifelong friends :-) Couldn't recommend this place more, I've done ~10 work exchanges in the past few years and this was by far one of my favorites. Eternal gratitude to this place and the crew, will definitely return someday!

I had an awesome time with Isabella, Margherita (and of course Olli). Both of them are amazing people – super kind and funny. I stayed for a month and really wish I could have stayed longer. We often had great (and really late) dinners together. The work at the B&B is simple and usually finished at 12, so the rest of the day is free. The view and the area around the house are so beautiful – perfect for walks with Olli. You live in an authentic, old Tuscan house of course, the house is not brand new and a few things show their age, but that is part of its charm and did not stop me from having a wonderful time. Isabella and Margherita also have fantastic travel recommendations for the area. I am traveling with my car, which made it very easy to visit the nearby cities and enjoy them even more with their tips. I truly enjoyed my stay and hope to see you again soon! All the best Fenja

I cycled my down from germany to this place and got randomly picked up in town by a member with the words "You seem like the person who is coming there by bike, you can come with me if you like". So I've been welcomed wholeheartedly even before I actually arrived. I stayed as a Handyman and the work was very diverse, from building a shed, organising the workstorage, building a windowframe to a lot of little projects. At every stage I could work very independent but always had a chance to ask for help or was able to tell if something was "too much for me to handle". Communication was working fine :). Every lunch was cooked by someone from the community and all allergies, diet restrictions, etc. were considered - even I was the only vegan, i always had something to eat. I have been in the community during summer and especially the long-terms were in and out for holiday during this time, but there were enough short terms to connect to and it has never been boring (except you wanted it to be boring ;)). Overall it was a great experience and loved to see how this community works and thrives in it's way. :) Thank you for this expierience and everything I learned along the way :)

Alois was a wonderful host! I felt so welcomed, and in my first few days on the farm without any other Workawayers, perfectly comfortable by myself. I stayed for 2-3 weeks, and was eventually joined by other Workawayers. It was lovely to speak some German and learn more about Austrian culture, the biodiversity project the farm has become, and enjoy the peaceful land there. The work was well explained, and enjoyable - of course some tasks were a bit harder, but Alois did a good job of varying the work. He also had excellent suggestions on what to do with our free time, and clearly had a vested interest in his Workawayers enjoying their stay and having fun! I'll miss our chats and cooking together, and hope I'll get to stop by again someday.

A hearty thank you to Sam and Damien for hosting me. It was a pleasure to support your project and I treasured our time together over lunch each day (still day dreaming of tomatoes and fromage as well). The Pyrenees is a magical part of the world and Sam and Damien will support you and encourage you to get out there and see it. This was my first workaway experience, and I have a feeling it will be tough to beat!

I thank Richard and Shahrzad for taking the time to write such detailed and thoughtful feedback. I truly appreciate their sharing both the positive aspects of their stay and the areas where things could have been better. I'm really glad to hear that they valued the hands-on experience with the straw bale construction and enjoyed working with Tanju. It was a pleasure having them both here, and I was impressed with their hard work and eagerness to learn. I'm also happy that they enjoyed the trips to Magnesia and the drawing class. Thank them especially for their constructive points about communication and expectations. This is very helpful for me. They make an excellent point about the cooking and cleaning expectations. I will definitely update my Workaway profile and discuss these points clearly with future volunteers before they arrive, so everyone knows what to expect from the start. I also appreciate their sharing their perspective on communication. I can be very focused on the project details, and I apologize if my approach sometimes came across as rigid or if my complaints made the environment less enjoyable. It's helpful to hear this, and I will work on being more mindful of how I communicate. Their contribution to the project was significant, and I'm grateful for the time and energy they invested. I highly recommend Richard and Shahrzad to any potential Workaway host who wishes to have very hard working honest volunteers helping them. I told them when they left that they are always welcome to come back and see the progress on the house!

My 2 weeks long stay at Slim's farm in June was definitely one of my best workaway experiences. He communicated very clearly, was flexible with the schedule and we had great chats during breakfast. I had the chance to try various tasks from gardening to content making and painting. Slim always considered my preferences and abilities when deciding on what to work on that day. It was the only place so far where I was asked for ideas and was listened to as well. The whole family was exceptionally lovely, helpful and open-minded. I think of those two weeks with nostalgy, hoping to visit again someday.

Anahi and Augustin have been fantastic! Una coppia bellissima che abbiamo ospitato con vero piacere, è stato proprio bello condividere con loro un mese e accoglierli nella nostra famiglia! Molto volenterosi e capaci nel lavoro, sanno fare di tutto sia fuori che dentro casa, fantastici con i bambini e ai fornelli, sempre pronti ad aiutare e pieni di iniziativa, seri, responsabili ed estremamente amichevoli. Ci è dispiaciuto quando sono andati via, li avremmo tenuti con noi per sempre! :-)

Here, I found what I was looking for in my first Workaway experience: a place to learn about self-sustainability and a healthy lifestyle that respects nature. Angelo and Simona are excellent hosts—always attentive, eager to teach, and curious to learn from other cultures. Their home is nestled in a place that embodies all the beauty and generosity of the Abruzzese countryside, making it highly recommended for anyone seeking inspiration in the heart of Italy. To sum up, I gained a life-improving experience and a beautiful friendship.

Wavy and Max are an adventurous and inspiring couple. They came by bikes from Sweden with a great goal to cycle to India. Crazy!!! :)) The higher purpose of this journey is spreading the idea of food sovereignty and probably much more. It makes them very special and unique with their outreach. Within their stay (one week) they helped us with the chickens, weeding the plants and our children. They played very nicely with them, especially Wavy and our older son were a match! Water balloon battles or sliding the slide – it was a lot of fun! They also spontaneously came with an idea to bake a Swedish cake (Kladdkaka) for our son for his birthday, which was very nice. We have tried another Swedish sweet (Chokladbollar) as well. Those two very young people have a great journey in front of themselves; they are eager to see all the countries and have the will and the power to be part of a change in this world. However sometimes I missed more responsibility regarding the punctuality or saving the water and energy sources… Anyway, it was cool to have them here and we wish them a lot of luck with their biking dream :).
