  • Descrição

Hi there! We are Lydia and Gerald, a Swiss couple currently exploring Latin America and Asia.

Since the very beginning of our journey 6 months ago, we’ve chosen to base our travel on Workaway experiences. While we are traveling as tourists, we’ve always been clear that sightseeing alone isn't what we’re looking for. Our goal has always been to travel through exchange, learning new skills, and being part of a local routine. We value the balance of settling down for a while and being truly useful to the projects we join.

    Meet Lydia:

I’m the social heart of the duo. I genuinely enjoy meeting people and creating a positive, peaceful atmosphere. Beyond being a people person, I have a strong creative and manual side: I love ceramics, and I’m always happy to get my hands dirty for a project. Whether it’s cooking (I love discovering new reciped), crafting, or organizing, I bring energy and a sense of detail to everything I do.

I’m the social energy of the duo. I have a deep passion for cooking : I love discovering new recipes and sharing a good meal is, for me, the best way to connect. I’m also a creative person, I do ceramics and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty for a project. Whether I'm in the kitchen, crafting, or organizing, I always bring a lot of heart and a sense of detail to what I do.

    Meet Gerald:
I’m the calm, steady force of the duo. After years of office work, I’ve rediscovered the pure joy of manual labor. There’s something deeply satisfying about seeing a finished project at the end of the day. I’m a huge animal lover (from dogs to chickens) and I take great pride in being reliable, focused, and precise in whatever task I'm given.

    Connection Beyond Words
We’ve always been convinced that you don’t need to speak the same language to truly understand each other. Language barriers don’t scare us because we know how to connect through other means. Whether it’s through sharing music, a simple dance, or a game, we love breaking the ice. We always have a deck of cards ready to share a friendly moment after work.

    What we’re looking for:
We aren't just looking for a place to stay; we are looking for a place to contribute. We take our commitments seriously, if we say we’ll do it, consider it done. We’re easy-going, respectful of your privacy, and we genuinely enjoy the feeling of being productive.
We’re excited to meet you, share a meal, and help your project grow!

  • Quais são suas habilidades?

We are curious and fast learners. Through our journey, we’ve worked in different environments, from hospitality and guest houses to permaculture projects. While we don't claim to be pros in one specific field, we take pride in our rigor and our ability to follow instructions precisely. If we don't know how to do something, we learn it and we do it with care.

    • General Help & Maintenance: We are comfortable with daily tasks, whether it's gardening, basic DIY, or keeping a project running smoothly. Gerald is very practical with tools and Lydia has a great eye for detail.

    • Hospitality & Housekeeping: Having worked in guest environments, we understand the importance of cleanliness, organization, and being reliable for our hosts.

    • Kitchen & Home: Lydia is a natural cook who can create a feast from a few simple ingredients. We love sharing our Congolese heritage through food: we usually cook Fufu for our hosts as a way to say thank you!

    • Creative Projects: Lydia has years of experience in ceramics. We are always happy to help with artistic or manual projects that require patience.

    • Animal Care: This is one of our favorite tasks. Gerald has a very special, natural bond with animals. He is patient and intuitive with them, and he’s often the one animals trust the most. Whether it’s dogs, cats, or farm animals, they are in very good hands with him.

Our mindset: We aren't experts, but we are resourceful. We listen, we adapt, and we work hard because we genuinely care about the quality of the work we leave behind.
