Yushin is a very friendly and peaceful person who helped with our place for 3weeks😊 He has an adorable and easy-going personality. I guess most people like him. I'm happy to see him enjoying new culture and having interests many things. I look forward to seeing how he'll grow the next time we meet. Ganbatte~💪

Our one week with Julia and Kacper was an absolute delight. What more could a host ask for than to have workers who can anticipate and carry out diligently what needs to be done. Friendly, engaging and respectful, this young couple exceeded our expectations and we were sad to say good-bye. We wish them well in their future travels and endeavors.

Mika stayed in our place for 3weeks. She is highly motivated to do all activities. Work and learn quickly. punctually 👌 We are glad to see that she tired to communicate with our guests, students and other workawayers. That one of the most important passion in our place in order to socialize and encourage cultural exchange🌏 We wish her next career and journey will be successful Arigato~

We stayed with Ylva for a few days. The accommodation was as described, and it was in a great location in Narvik near the water. We helped with firewood, dishes, and some household tasks, and also spent time baking with the kids. For us, the expectations around hours of work and initiative didn’t match well with what we understood Workaway to be (about 4–5 hours/day), and overall, the expectations felt higher than we anticipated. The communication style also didn’t align well with us, which made things more difficult. Because of this, we decided to leave earlier than planned. We recommend that future Workawayers clarify expectations clearly in advance.

Helene stayed with us for two weeks. She is very dedicated, responsible with schedules, and versatile, as she easily adapted to the different activities required by the dynamics of the finca. She always showed a great attitude and willingness.

George was a great and attentive host. He communicates tasks clearly and was very helpful with recommending me cultural activities and learning opportunities in the region. Additionaly, he takes great care of keeping the jobs you'll do varied and interesting. I learned a lot about working with cattle amongst other things during my stay. I ended up only staying with George and Polly for 10 days but I feel like we accomplished quite a bit during that time.

I spent a week in July on the farm and I met the most amazing people there (other workawyers, the children, Tofu and Grace - the local volunteers-). It was a pure joy to work with animals and teach English and live like a local. The area has an incredible waterfall nearby and well located if you want to make a stop during traveling from South to North i(or opposite) in Vietnam. 🇻🇳

We had the amazing opportunity to stay at Andreas' summerhouse in Kulhuse and experience the first Vipassana silent retreat. The work consisted of cooking during the retreat and painting some windows. Instructions were always very clear and manageable and we had great flexibility in organizing our schedule. We went on a lot of great walks / runs / rides / swims to explore the beautiful surroundings in Kulhuse and even got to visit Copenhagen. Andreas was very welcoming and he always made sure we were comfortable. We are extremely grateful for our stay in Kulhuse and would gladly recommend Andreas as a host for his upcoming projects !

I stayed with Milka and her family for a month, and honestly, from the first moment I arrived, I felt like part of the family. They are very welcoming, and I was able to play with the kids, go for walks, and cook with them. The place is beautiful, and the house is located next to a gorgeous forest that you can explore however you want. I also really connected with Abi, the dog, and I wanted to go for a walk with him. It was a very relaxing activity with beautiful scenery. I also met other lovely workawayers, and the time with them flew by! I will miss them and hope to return soon to do all the activities we wanted to do together! I send them a big hug, and I'll see you soon!

This was my first workaway experience and a good way to get to know this way of staying abroad. The Art Center is a quiet place surrounded by fields and nature, perfect for workawayers who are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. But there are also events like dinners and the like where you'll meet plenty of new, interesting and friendly people. The house itself is fascinating with a beautiful sitting room and a well equipped kitchen. The work is fair and varied, I especially enjoyed working in the garden. Deej was always available in person or via text and often offered to take us along for a ride to the nearby towns

I stayed here for three weeks this September and had a great and memorable time there, which is why I can really recommend this place to anyone who likes nature (lakes and forest) and is interested in meeting new people from all over the world! During my stay I got to meet three other workawayers who stayed there temporarily like me, and two artists, with which I had really interesting and nice conversations. Plus some people who just visited the place for a few hours for different reasons. In addition, there are John and Thomas who are staying here for a longer period of time (planning to stay there more or less permanently I think) as “creative supporters”. And you will of course also meet Gonçalo (who’s the boss), but because he is living an about half an hour drive away from here he can’t come there really often. They were all really kind and lovely people! When you arrive there your main contact person will probably be John, who got there about a year ago and is now basically the manager of the building and the people arriving. He is a really nice person who is open to telling stories about the place or his former life for those interested. John also showed us a few really stunning places in and near. As a workawayer you will have to work about five hours a day from monday to friday, which is totally fine and can also be a lot of fun. My tasks were mainly continuing with building the outdoor sauna on all the days where it wasn’t raining. When the weather was bad we had tasks like organising the workshop, cleaning often-used rooms in the school or even trying to repair some broken bikes. In return you will get your own cozy little cabin for sleeping and free access to yummy and healthy food plus a kitchen. But we had minimum one meal a day together so cooking just for yourself wasn’t often the case, which was cool! In your free time you can explore the surrounding nature by foot or riding one of the bikes there. If you are lucky you will even see some reindeers! Or you can stay in the school building on rainy days, where there are many different kinds of labs (for dancing, painting, making music, etc.). And if you think you aren’t such a creative person you can just watch tv or play pool :). My personal highlight was seeing the aurora in two nights, it was absolutely amazing! So thanks to all the people I met there, who made my first workaway experience super cool!

Vera is a super friendly, flexible and hard working person. Someone you can hand a task and be sure it gets done. It was also great to hear about and discuss her plans for her eco-future. It was great having her over for the 2 week stay. @Vera we hope to see you again to show all developments here and to hear about your.

I had an incredible time at this place! This was my first volunteer experience and it couldn't have been any better. The location is simply perfect and Lydia and the rest of the staff were always very welcoming and generous. I had the chance to meet many locals and travelers, learn from them, visit beautiful places nearby, chill on the beach and enjoy the laid back environment while surrounded by wonderful people. I have had an amazing time that I will never forget, so I encourage everyone else to do it too! Thank you so much for having me, Pura Vida

I spent three weeks volunteering here. It was an incredible experience and I am so grateful for the extreme kindness, generosity, and patience that was shown to me by the teachers, cafe staff, Yao, Ke Sin, and of course John. I spent the majority of my working hours helping to reconstruct a treehouse. It was so much fun, I am genuinely contemplating changing my entire life trajectory and career aspirations. John is truly the most patient man I have ever met and I can say that I successfully know how to use many tools, install nets, floors, doors, and windows because of him. My other working hours consisted of helping out with the kindergarteners - leading them in song, reading books, accompanying them on a couple of hikes, and of course organizing a dance party or two. My third role was helping with the homestay, which was very straightforward basic housekeeping. You also get to accompanying the guests on a hike and Ke Sin is an exceptional guide who takes the time to share knowledge of the rainforest and the site throughout the hike. While you are there, you are free to sleep in any of the treehouses, classrooms, cafe or lobby. The sleeping arrangements are incredibly comfortable and it is truly magical to fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle. You can also hear the call to prayer, so if you are a light sleeper, perhaps bring earplugs. All meals are included while you are there (even on your off days) and trust me when I say that you will not have a bad meal or go hungry. Every single person is an exceptional chef! Thank you again everyone for an amazing experience, my heart feels full from the time I was able to spend in the classroom, building site, and sitting around a table with you all. If any future volunteers have questions, please feel free to message me. Much love to and may our paths cross again. <3
