Everyone here made us feel so welcome from the moment we got there. This was our first workaway and we’re so pleased that we had such a positive experience. We learnt so much about permaculture and one day we hope to use some of what we learnt on our own little farm! The daily tasks varied which meant that we learnt a lot about different aspects of the farm - the animals, the plants, the composting and the use of fruit and vegetable scraps to create eco enzymes and fertiliser. We got to try a lot of delicious Indonesian food and we’ve even sought out Martabak since we’ve left! I had a wonderful experience staying at the dog shelter. The host is very friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. From the first day I felt comfortable and appreciated. Working with the dogs was both fun and meaningful — they each have their own character, and it was great to be part of their daily care. The tasks were clear and manageable, and there was always support when needed. I truly recommend this place to anyone who loves animals and wants to contribute to a good cause while learning and enjoying a positive environment. Thank you for this experience! 🐶

Selma stayed here for two and a half weeks, and she was a pleasure to host. She is hard-working, dedicated, and respectful of the space. She is observant, proactive, and takes initiative, always bringing a positive attitude to the work. Her contributions included land maintenance—removing olive tree shoots, cutting grass and overgrowth, sawing branches for firewood, preparing mulch, and picking carobs. She also helped with laying geotextile around the house, covering it with sand and gravel. It was physically demanding work, and she made a real difference here. Reliable, supportive, and a joy to have around, I can wholeheartedly recommend Selma to other hosts.

This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Before coming I was a bit nervous about how it would be, but all my worries disappeared on the very first day. Akino san is patient and helpful, and even though at the beginning I wasn’t sure how to fit in, she explained everything to me. The kids were so polite and fun and their parents are very kind and curious about my culture. One family even invited me to dinner, which was so nice. I also met a French workawayer here with who we became friends! Overall this was an unforgetable experience and a highlight of my trip. I couldn't recommend this enough. It was a pleasure hosting Noah. He is a gentle soul who approaches every task given with total focus and determination. He was super tidy and took amazing care of our retriever, keeping her well exercised. She would seek him out in the house and loved just hanging with him as well. We would definitely recommend Noah to any future host.

It was my first trip alone, my first workaway, and finding myself at Mo and Kiki's finca was just what I needed. The place is beautiful, the company is special, and they have the sweetest animals. A little work, excursions, sea and chats! I'd love to go back now☺️ Thank you Mo and Kiki

The two weeks I spent in Fritzlar were amazing! It was my first experience as a Workawayer. Everyone was so kind and welcomed me into the family right away. Tanja showed me around the area, and I was able to discover the beauty of both Fritzlar and Kassel. The work was enjoyable and not difficult, and I especially loved spending time with Panda, the cats and the horses on the farm. It was such a pleasant experience, and I truly recommend doing a Workaway here. You will create beautiful memories! Thank you so much to Tanja and all the family for this wonderful experience!!

Staying with Val was truly a pleasure. I was there for 2 months and enjoyed every bit of it. Val was patient and kind and always open to show me new things. I learned a lot about the horses as well as farmwork in general during my stay, and the rural area allowed for some cool wildlife spottings as well. Together, we got some stuff done on the paddock and looked after some of the fences. We didn't just work, Val also took me out to see things on my days off and we spent relaxing evenings together. I am truly grateful to have had someone like Val as my first host, and I would advise anyone to come stay with her if they enjoy being around horses, nature and lovely people. Thank you, Val :)

A Truly Perfect Experience Yuvaraj and Saumya are the most incredible hosts – I had a perfect experience, one of the best of my entire trip! The work at the site was super interesting and educational, and staying at Yuvaraj and Saumya home was simply wonderful – warm, welcoming, and full of good vibes. Everything was just perfect. I wouldn’t change a single thing! During my stay in the village, I unfortunately got injured (totally my own fault and unrelated to the work), and both Yuvaraj and Saumya took care of me like I was their little brother. They gave up so much of their precious time just to make sure I was okay and felt comfortable. I can't thank them enough for that. Yuvaraj and Saumya – if you're reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I already miss you and can't wait to see you again. And for anyone reading this and still hesitating – stop thinking and just write to Yuvaraj. You won’t regret it!

Hi, I had such a wonderful and unforgettable experience there. The school is so beautiful and I really liked spending time there. Everyone was so welcoming and kind so I felt really comfortable around them. The kids were so cute and working with them was so fun. Thank you again for everything. It's an experience I will never forget. :))

Before I went to Cappadocia, I was a little anxious. I worried that my stay would be too short to have a full experience of Cappadocia, that I might not manage the duties of ‘kitchen’ and ‘photography & video’, and that perhaps I would fail to capture the beauty of this gorgeous hostel through my lenses. On the first day I was almost like a soldier before battle—raising my camera with nervous hands, afraid the results would only disappoint. But my worries quickly melted away. Not only was every person in the hostel kind and welcoming, there were also a few fellow photography lovers with whom I could learn and share. Above all, the hostel itself was so beautiful, and Ali himself—so agreeable and gracious—praised my photos and videos with such warmth that my confidence grew. I am truly grateful. In my free hours, beyond editing the images I took, I joined new friends from the hostel to watch the sunrise and sunset—an experience that felt like life itself. In this faraway land I met so many kind and joyful souls, and Ali’s hostel seemed to carry a magic: everyone who entered looked happy. Thank you for everything I experienced in Cappadocia. I hope we shall meet and work as a team again :-)

Wow! Wow! Wow! === Mary was so Amazing for Me to Host**** Her energy level towers way above many people 1/3rd her Age Always up early every morning to create delicious smoothies out of what ever is available [spinach leaf, apple, chia seeds, rolled oats, banana, blue berries, milk etc. Followed with chopped figs, almonds, yogurt, walnuts etc. Best cleaner & re-organizer Ever. From Fridge & Freezer, Pantry, Wardrobes, including clothes etc. Work bench, Wall units, Outside Decks! Sorted all the Recycling, Loaded all the rubbish & took it to the Transfer Station. Always an Active participant in every community & activity we under took during her stay. Very, Very generous, often paid for our groceries, as well as meals when out & about without hesitation, In Short+++ I would love to have Mary stay here when she returns to NZ I Highly recommend Mary to All future Hosts looking for a Person of Integrity, Intelligence & a Great companion to spend time with. My experience at Liz's place was highly pleasant, recharging and exciting at the same time. Tasks were easy to handle and very diverse. Liz was always very fair, helped with every question and I always felt taken care of. I worked on things I felt comfortable with and was never pushed. Liz and Chloe, her daughter, are very kind and open minded people who are happy to share their home with people around the world. As a guest, you definitely feel very welcome and you are given lots of space and time to explore the surroundings. On the country side spontaneity was a bit difficult, though, because there's no public transport. But Liz and Chloe were there to give a lift or even spent time together in the small village/town nearby. I'm already missing our conversations after dinner on the porch enjoying the warm Canadian summer breeze after a hot day! In Montreal city there's so many things to do and see and the bus goes just a short walking distance from Liz's town house. Many thanks to Liz for showing me the 'Meetup' app through which I found a couple of new friend, went on trips, cafes, bars and even on a concert in the Bell Centre. You can even go on a weekend trip to places nearby by train or coach. I've been to Toronto and have seen the Niagara Falls which was a stunning and a unique experience! All in all, I had a wonderful, wonderful time in Canada. It's not even possible to express everything here in words and I hope I was able to transmit it at least a little bit. Again, I thank Liz and family a lot for their hospitality and highly recommend to stay at their place if you get the chance. Hope to see you again in future :) Sehri

Matthew stayed with us for about a month. He is well traveled , energetic, adaptive, quiet and easy going person. Thanks to him, many decorative small gardens around the house have been transformed. I appreciate his persistence in fixing the lawnmower to cut the grass. Willing to cook vegetarian food for me and tidying up the kitchen after meals. He helped us with everything we needed. We enjoyed good conversations, swimming, walking around the island, cooking, watching movies and having coffee/beer in the town. He was a pleasant company with good manners and humor. Thank you very much for your help Matthew! We wish you the best in your travels and in your life!

My stay with Thea and Charlie was wonderful! I stayed for three weeks.They did welcome me from the first minute and took care, that I did feel well at all times during my stay. I can descripe Thea and Charlie as warm-hearted, open-minded, creative and honest hosts.The place they stay in is quiet and beautiful with wonderful nature. The river beach close by was defenetly my favourite place to go to in my free time. Thea and Charlie build the workaway- exchance on the base of trust. We worked mostly in the morning hours from 7 to 11 am, but I was free to choose also to work at a different time. Thea and Charlie even invited me to day-trips , so I got to see different places in the surrounding area. All in all I want to say: Thank you so much Thea and Charlie for this time full of joy.

I couldn’t have imagined a better start with Workaway! Mary is such a lovely woman. We only stayed with her and Padraig for 2 weeks. I wish it would’ve been possible to stay longer! When we arrived, I immediately felt at home. She was so welcoming. Padraig wasn’t always home but when he was, it was fun to be around him. Mary showed us lots of places (including 3 pubs) and we got to meet her wonderful neighbors and family! We mainly worked outdoors; lots of weeding, transplanting flowers and cutting lavender, as well as painting a bookshelf. On some days she worked right by our side. In our free time during the week we weren’t able to do much because the public transport wasn’t that good, so we went hiking, explored the area or went kayaking with Mary. Overall, we had a great time and I hope to go back someday and I highly recommend this host for a delightful cultural exchange!

Mary is a very kind and caring person and made us feel at home right away. She is a very active lady, that loves to help people wherever she can. It was such a pleasure staying with her and perfect for our first workaway experience! The work was mostly weeding and clearing some areas. On rainy days, we did some painting, which was really fun. Mary was never strict with work hours. In our freetime, we went hiking, kayaking and on many walks in the area, where she would tell us about the history and cultural significance of many places. A lot of times, her son Martin would visit and we also got to know the lovely neighbour Dan and his Grandma Patsy. Mary's husband Padraig was mostly on the road but when he was home, it was always a fun time. We got to know so many people and never felt lonely! It's a wonderful family and a wonderful community in the village. We've had many many interesting conversations about german and irish culture. I loved hearing about all the adventures that Mary and her loved ones experienced, they always had exciting stories to tell. I already miss her and her family 💕 We had the best time in Kilkeeran!

João was a huge help this summer. He enriched our group with his presence, both at work and in our free time. His independence and keen interest in daily tasks made him a pleasure to work with, not to mention his culinary skills. I highly recommend João as a Workaway and would welcome him back at any time!

I’ve spent 10 awesome weeks with Cam and Jeanne at their place on Gambier Island. It was my very first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have found a better place or better people to make it truly unforgettable. Their property is stunning, and I had the opportunity to work on various projects : building stairs, fan installation, drywall, building a gate, cutting wood with the chainsaw… But the main project I worked on was to build a shower, from the drywall all the way to tiling. The work is really varied and staying for a long time gave me the opportunity to work on many different things. Cam and Jeanne were always there to answer my questions, and they have a lot of knowledge about construction. I learned a lot from them. They are both lovely people. In fact, Cam is known as “the kindest guy on the planet ;)”. We spent our evenings listening to all the stories they have to share (they both are incredible storytellers !) and playing board games. I’ll never forget the atmosphere there, it really felt like home. The island itself, its wildlife and landscapes are just breathtaking. And if you enjoy running, you’ll find an awesome playground.
