… read more outdoors. Oli is such a bright, open, and friendly girl, and it was a joy to be with her. The family was full of great tips, and I was always invited to join in on trips and family gatherings, which gave me an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in Spanish life.
David always cooked very tasty meals and is incredibly knowledgeable. I loved having many conversations with him, especially about science and the local area. Maria was always checking in to make sure I was comfortable and feeling good. She is so warm, caring, and open-hearted.
A huge thank you to this beautiful family! I really hope to see you all again soon.

It has taken me a couple of days to be able to write this. Words cannot express how wonderful my time with Maria, David and Olivia has been. This was my first workaway experience and I arrived ready for an adventure and left in tears that it had to end. I felt that I was a part of the family during my stay, I was welcomed at every friend and
… read more family gathering, taken to a swing dancing festival, cheered along with family and friends at fútbol watching parties, and was shown around Madrid. Maria made sure that I had access to a transport card and I was given much advice on where to go and what to see during the weekends and evenings when I was free to explore. I was blown away by how much effort was put in by the family to make sure that I was happy, healthy, supported and thriving. My time was filled with laughter and love and I have never felt more at home with a family who was once strangers to me. Maria, David, Oli, you have such a beautiful family and I'm so grateful to have been a part of it for a time. I will miss each and every one of you, especially you Oli. You are one of the funniest girls I've ever met and I felt more like you were my little sister than anything. I'll never forget the time we spent together and I'm beyond grateful that I was given the opportunity to stay for the entire month and wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you beyond words.

I have had a cozy room and even my own bathroom. The flat is really nice and super clean. Food is always provided and David is a wonderful cook, so every meal served is very delicious.
I had a lot of free time, which I could either spend in the village, or helping on some personal tasks or go to Madrid. The connection from the house to the city center is quite easy. The family always thought about cool activities that we could do together for me to learn more about the language, the culture and Madrid.

… read more mostly had to spend time with Oli in the evenings, since she comes home from school quite late, and that meant that I also had a lot of freetime to explore Madrid. Although they live in a smaller city outside of Madrid it’s easy to get to Madrid by bus/metro.
Oli is a really cute and smart kid, she likes to play different games, we played for example a lot with lego, but sometimes we also read or drew something. She also speaks English very well so we didn't have any communication problems.

This family offered me possibly the best experience I could have ever hoped for on Workaway. For the 6.5 weeks I stayed, David and Maria were incredibly kind, helpful, and caring and truly made me feel like a part of their wonderful little family! … read more play-do, doble and other games together. She loves to draw and paint and will never have a lack of energy or activities to do with you haha! We read lots of children's books together in English and she was always eager to learn more new English words or phrases. David and Maria also helped me a ton with my Spanish and with navigating Madrid. Paracuellos is a nice safe town outside Madrid and while it is not in the city center, I was still easily able to take public transport to the center almost every day. I spent 4 weeks with María, David and Oli and couldn't have asked for a better experience and introduction to living in Madrid. They were extremely welcoming, friendly and caring. They truly made me feel part of the family and were very helpful with everything from getting a Madrid transport card to being flexible if I had weekend or travel plans.
I had lots of free time in the afternoons and on the weekends. It is very easy to travel between Paracuellos and Madrid city. The balance was perfect; I got to know their neighbours, family and life in the village, as well as spending time getting to know the city.
