I had an amazing experience staying with Cheryl. It was honestly one of my best Workaway stays so far. She has so much knowledge, especially about nutrition, which I found super interesting. We had many deep and inspiring conversations, and I learned a lot during my time with her. The tasks were very easy and never too much, so there was plenty of free time. Cheryl also took me to lots of cool spots in the area, which I’m really grateful for. Both houses in Killcare and Nambucca Heads were extremely clean, comfortable and very nice to live in. I felt at home straight away. I’m really thankful for my stay and can genuinely recommend the experience to anyone.

Yui stayed with us for about 3 months. She wanted to be part of a family and quickly became part of ours. She spent a lot of time with the kids, helping them to tidy, and playing with them. She taught them about Japan and they enjoyed having her. When she wasn't with the kids she helped out with weekly cleaning and the daily housework.

I came to a lovely home caring for dogs for 3 weeks. I also joined an adoption drive and got to meet the dog rescue and caring community. I very much enjoyed my stay and the chores, as well as hiking and playing with the dogs.

This place is a great place to volunteer. The beach is right there, and on your time off you can surf, snorkel, or go kitesurfing. I liked working hard and then getting to enjoy the island right after. Francesco is an amazing guy, if you put in the effort, he notices and appreciates it. I had a phenomenal time here and would go back again!

Sela stayed with us for just over three months and was an absolute standout. She integrated beautifully into our community and quickly became one of those rare people who make a lasting impact. She has a gift for organization, cleaning, and leadership, and she brings a natural sense of calm and capability to everything she does. Her communication is clear and thoughtful, and she’s always proactive, seeing what needs to be done and doing it without needing direction. She consistently went above and beyond in every area. Sela is mature, kind, grounded, and dependable, and anyone who gets the chance to host her will be very lucky.

Our plan was to stay longer with this sweet family, but due to our personal health issues we had to change our travel plans. So we spent just one nice week in Mons, but learnt a lot from Cédric and Sylvie. We cleaned up the chicken coop, and I did some cleaning, cooking or baking. Sylvie and Cédric are really, really helpful people. We got car rides from them, and they even offered to look after my kids - which truly made my heart melt, but which I would never expect from our host! Sylvie always made extra effort so that my kids with food restrictions would be happy and have full stomachs. Cute Clara was very patient language teacher for us, as we didn't speak any French. Somehow we always found our ways to communicate, even if there was a little bit of language barrier sometimes. I loved their principle, that "we are a family, we work together." I always felt supported and had helpful guidance to complete my tasks. I especially cherish the memory how we made jam together with Sylvie. I remember these hosts with a big gratitude: it's not always easy to host a family with small kids, but they did so much to make our stay pleasant. Hopefully our paths will come across again some day!

Jeremy was here for 6 weeks and was wonderful to have here. He was so helpful, and really nice to have around. We had some very interesting conversations over dinners :) Jeremy was willing to help with anything and everything around the property. He worked hard at stacking and splitting firewood, changed the oil and cleaned up the wood-splitter, helped me (a lot) with a bonfire, which got rid of 4 big piles of slash, did tons of weeding, prepared the veggie beds for the winter / spring, carried big rocks down to the riverbank, pruned trees, harvested a LOT of apples and processed a lot of them as well - dehydrated some and made a lot of applesauce, and did many more little and big things around the property. He also made a yummy chocolate lava cake and helped cook a number of dinners. Jeremy also left the guest suite very clean and looked after my cat when I went away for a night. If you are looking for a great worker and a very pleasant guy to have around - I would highly recommend Jeremy.

Maja was a treat to host. She has a warm, hospitable personality and was great fun to be around. She helped me with various tasks around the house and proved diligent and capable. She was happy with any task I gave her and was very focused and hard working. She comes highly recommended. She cooked some delicious meals which I was very grateful for! I enjoyed her stay and was sad to see her go. All the best Maja.

The volunteering experience with Luz was amazing. It's been so good to know the countryside life of remote Colombia. She is lovely and welcoming, the tasks to do are accessible balanced with your free time. Luz was respectul and lovely, giving me a private room, but as well sharing many meaningful talks and explorations. A real experience of the countryside life and also with cool naturalistic spots like caves, waterfalls and chasm. Definitely I would recommend you to come here and have the chance to know Luz!

I spent two weeks with Kamnat and his family in Battambang, teaching English, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The classes were fun and rewarding, and I always felt supported and appreciated. Outside of teaching, I had plenty of opportunities to enjoy local life. I was even invited to a Cambodian wedding, which was a real honour. The family also took me out for dinner, another dinner with Rath friend at her house as well as I was welcomed into a student’s home where I could join their meal and help with the cooking. These moments made the stay feel very personal and authentic. My mornings were usually spent preparing lessons, biking along the river and getting black iced coffee or going to the gym nearby, and throughout the day I could enjoy Rath’s delicious home-cooked meals. The weekend visiting a resort swimming pool around the corner (2,5$). I would truly recommend this Workaway. What Kamnat has created is something special: a meaningful community project, a warm family environment, and a place where volunteers can really connect and contribute. I’m very grateful for my time here.

Thankyou for a really special week! I had a great experience at this place. Aleja and Chris are so kind and welcoming and explains a lot about their project and the colombian culture, i learned a lot from them. They really made me feel welcome and appreciated. The place is located high up in the mountain and feels very authentic. The food is very good and the closeness to the nature, and vast forest, is so special. I got to contribute in their agriculture projects which was interesting and meaningful. Aleja also gave classes of making accesories which im also very grateful for. thankyou for having me, i will always remember this week:)

I stayed one week at Rob’s castle near Timaru and absolutely loved it. Rob is friendly, kind, generous, easy to communicate with, and always full of great stories. I really enjoyed having dinner with him, and the breakfast—sometimes shared with his guests—was amazing as well. The work was varied, including walking the dogs, weeding, gardening, cleaning, and some light housekeeping. Rob was very flexible with the working hours, which gave me plenty of time and freedom to explore the surroundings. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I’d love to come back one day and can warmly recommend this place to anyone.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — An unforgettable Workaway experience My girlfriend Alma and I had an incredible experience with Hans and the whole crew. From day one, everyone was welcoming, genuine, and easy to connect with. We quickly became close with both the long-term residents and the other short-term volunteers. It truly felt like a small community rather than just a place to work. The property itself is beautiful and full of character, and Hans has created a space that naturally brings people together. We’re both very grateful for his guidance, his generosity, and the knowledge he shared with us throughout our stay. The work was rewarding, hands-on, and varied. I helped build a deck, stairs, railings and a log wall, while Alma worked in the garden and helped in different areas around the property. We both learned a lot of new skills and really enjoyed the chance to be active while contributing to meaningful projects. Hans was always flexible with scheduling, which gave us a nice balance of work and free time. The free time was fantastic—especially the hidden, non-touristy hikes we went on with the group. We explored waterfalls, went on outings with Figgy the goat and Saba the dog, and found some of the most beautiful spots on the island. The community activities made everything even better: jam sessions, bonfires, shared meals (community dinners once a week were a highlight), and plenty of chances to relax or hang out with everyone. We were also grateful to have our own private room/RV space as a couple—it made our stay comfortable and cozy. Basic meal staples were provided too, which was a huge help. A special thank-you to the long-term residents Erin, Ella, Daniel, Corey, and Trevor, who made us feel like part of the family and taught us so much. We feel really lucky to have met such interesting, kind, creative people. Overall, our time there was everything we hoped for and more. We made wonderful friends, learned new skills, explored beautiful places, and felt at home. We highly, highly recommend this Workaway to anyone who wants a meaningful and memorable experience. Thank you, Hans, for creating such a special place. — Dartanyon & Alma

If you want to spend your time at a lovely place where you can learn a lot and want to feel like you are part of the family you are at the right place! You can give Julie and Alan a helping hand around the house, do a little bit of cleaning in the house and help organizing things. But don't worry you also have enough freetime to visit e.g. the Kalbarri Nationalpark or go for a swim at the next beach. If you're bored you can also play with the three dogs or just cuddle with them. Sometimes they also help you with the garden work :) If you're hungry you can eat the very good Food that Julie prepares everyday for you. During our 3 week stay we learned a lot about Australia, the culture there and of course the Australian people. When you want some travel and must see tips just ask Julie. She also helped us with our travel plans. Go to Julie and Alan if you want a really good experience and a lot of interesting talks because they are always open to learn something about other cultures and countries. It would be a pleasure for us to come back one Day!
