Ervin and his family were great hosts and very friendly and open minded people. Communication was super easy and quick. We did most of the work together with Ervins parents in law which was nice and uncomplicated. We lived in a small apartment which offered us all we needed. Very fair work expectations and a lot to see and explore in the surroundings. Ervin gave us a lot of information about the area which helped us a lot. Thanks guys and see you another time 👍🏼

My time at Joy and Heiko’s farm was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and kindness, which made me feel at home. The work was engaging and well-organised. I learned a lot through hands-on experience and meaningful collaboration with other Workawayers. Teamwork was a strong part of the daily work rhythm. Joy and Heiko fostered an environment of mutual respect, learning, and good vibes. Life on the farm is communal but is definitely possible to get your own space and time if you need some for yourself; both Joy and Heiko are very understanding and easy-going. The cabin I stayed in had all the conditions for a relaxed living during the off-hours (that bed was excellent, especially because it was covered with a mosquito net) except the bathroom and kitchen which were on separate buildings. The bathroom is very clean and has a fantastic shower. The kitchen is really big but sometimes lacks one or another tool, definitely not a big deal. I was at the farm from mid-August until the first week of September, and therefore experienced the summer heat waves, and although the cabin got hot at the end of the day, Joy and Heiko prepared a LIFE SAVING fan, which shows that they care about your well being during your time there. On weekends we explored some of the most breathtaking places in the region, including an unforgettable trip to a stunning lake in Serra da Estrela. Between diving on the lake, going on walks or movie- or gaming nights, a magical touch was added to an already rich experience. If you’re looking for a Workaway experience that combines learning, nature, exploration and a host that is very human and will receive you as a human with its skills and defects, I wholeheartedly recommend Joy and Heiko’s farm.

Helen volunteered with us for a month at our hostel. She was an incredible asset and helped us tremendously during her time here. Helen is hardworking, thorough, and curious, and she loves learning new things. Plus, with her universal sense of humor, she's sure to be a great addition to the atmosphere of your place! We miss her already!

Mr.Daniel & Ms.Aline were visiting us a couples more than 2 weeks for Volunteering. Both of them are International English Teacher. They were so nice and humble to help us in English teaching and games also English practicing with all our students. The students loved the way of their teaching styles when they want back home the kids didn't want let them home cause the kids missed them. They did some hand book recording to help the students on listening skill. As a part of daily routine is off day we went to Waterfall, Lake took around, coffee farming and to learn and see about the processing from baby until growth then harvesting and till ready to drink, went to the hill enjoy. They help us also take care of our pets, chicken, dogs, duck , and we did cook the chicken and delicious enjoyed it for dinner and lunch. The best moment was having enjoying morning coffee every day as Best Arabica Coffee no.3 export quality in the world. Again thanks a lot for helping us and your family, friendly, humble. My stay lasted almost 3 weeks (September). I was meant to look after her dog, but she died a couple of weeks before I arrived. I was worried Elisabetta would cancel my stay, but I needed not worry at all. The setting is rural so there was plenty of other things to do. I was given a lovely room with a fantastic view, also she does have two normal bathrooms, a fantastic shower and a washing machine (in case you are worried about the 'off grid' reference in her profile). Elisabetta (vegetarian) would cook most nights which was great and unexpected. She is a hospitable and bubbly person to be around. Selva is well located; so close to what I think is the best part of the island, but you do need your own car to go anywhere. If like me, you work per output rather than time, I would advise to just stick to the 4 hours/day and make every afternoon your own to explore the so many wonderful beaches, towns and villages rather than clocking extra hours which will go unnoticed. If you are attracted by her mentioning of the Akashic Records in her profile and expect to get some insight about them, she appeared to be quite reluctant to talk about it, with me at least (I tried addressing the topic a couple of times, but it was like pulling teeth so I let it lie) which is why I dropped a star. But the place is indeed fantastic and Elisabetta is a kind and positive person who will include you in her social outings!

There’s really no point to write a reference for someone like Camilla since words can’t describe the value of her contribution to our project and our lives. Happy travels!

Experiencing wine harvest is a tick off the bucket list but experiencing it with Jane and Hugh is REALLY the memorable part of the experience! Hugh is super knowledgable and non stop sharing everything there is to know about well..everything topped off w a few dad jokes for good measure. And Jane is a master in the kitchen and just an all around legend! Harvest season is truly a time of camaraderie so across 3 vineyards we were able to experience the whole life cycle for sparkling, white, rose and red for both personal bottling and contribution to the co-op- most importantly I was able to squish the grapes with my feet! 2025 will be a good vintage ;). The wine was free flowing, the food amazing, the laughs loud and we even learnt a thing or two! Thanks so much to the whole gang for such a wonderful experience!

I stayed one month and it was amazing. The hostel is an incredible place to do a workaway ! The work is easy : clean the rooms, common space and sometimes the check-in ! Then you will meet all the guests and be able to meet dozens of fantastics people ! The allowance given for the food every week is more than enough, and the local markets offer a lot of good vegetables ! Veliko Tarnovo is a cute medieval city where you can do some hikes, enjoy the art vibe and the good food ! And finally, the Manager, Rado is well organised and kind, he knows how to welcome people and make the place feel safe and home sweet home ! I can only recommend this workaway !

We stayed with Rebecca for about a month both assisting her directly as well as house sitting for a two week period as she treated herself to a well deserved holiday! As stated she really just needed an extra pair of hands and some company as she was recovering from an injury. We became friends and enjoyed running errands and cabana hunting as well as some light gardening work, cleaning and shared breakfasts. More of a pleasure than a task is caring for her animals as they have got to be the silliest most brilliant gang of misfits ever! Stanley (the boss) decided to be an indoor dog and our bff until Elon the bratty younger brother bull-dosed his way into the space and our hearts as the GOAT dog. Her majesty stays pretty in toe with Rebecca but her appearances are legendary with top shelf side eyes and leg licks. But wait there's more! Non stop eggs and fun with her 7 chickens who rudely do not like hats but love to accompany you wherever you go and sneak into the house for a giggle. The ninja cats only appear in flashes at night while enjoying the beautiful starry sky and mountain views on the terrace after a lovely day. Rebecca is lovely and her love and appreciation for mountains, fresh air, burgers and tea time chats were truly a delight!

We have been really happy to host Darius! He is both skilled and strong, and he has helped us with so many different projects. Among other things, he built and repaired gates, transformed a horse trailer into a feeding station, and even constructed a “sheep-stand” with a built-in feed holder – which works perfectly. On top of that, Darius is a super kind, humorous, and pleasant guy to be around. We are sure that anyone would feel very lucky to have him as a Workawayer! We did!

It was an absolute pleasure hosting this wonderful family from New Zealand! From the very first moment, we enjoyed their company immensely. After meeting at a medieval festival and spending an exciting afternoon there, we came home late at night and they set up camp with headlamps while getting to know our dog. :-) The next day, they jumped right in, and over the following days helped make firewood, double up the fence for the chickens, and care for the goats and chickens. Sarah and Matty were incredibly helpful. Their enthusiasm, motivation, and attention to detail made every task easier and more enjoyable — it truly felt like having an extra set of capable hands around the homestead. Their two children were delightful, full of energy and curiosity, and immediately bonded with all the other kids present. We basically didn’t see them all day (except for mealtimes ;-b), as they were always busy exploring or playing. We loved hearing Sarah’s and Matty’s stories from New Zealand and their travels through Spain and France, and the whole family’s easygoing, adventurous, and cheerful nature made every day a joy. Our evenings were full of laughter, games (Werewolf!), jamming, and lively conversations, and it honestly felt like we’d known them much, much longer than just those few days. We also shared some delicious meals together. Sadly, they were only able to stay for five days, but thank goodness they left an anchor, which one of us will have to pull up someday, so we can all meet again… We can absolutely recommend them to any host and would welcome them back anytime! Sarah and Matty, thank you for enriching our lives, reigniting our passion for New Zealand, and just being the awesome people that you are! See ya ;-)

I stayed one week with Brahim and his family and was met with the most gracious hospitality and some of the yummiest home cooked meals thanks to Naima. This work away is defiantly for you if you like kids, Brahim has a family of 6 kids who are happy to play with you all the time. The work is self selecting and flexible depending on your strengths and skills. There is plenty to do from website programing, to managing listings, contacting tour agencies and travel catalogues, responding to reviews, and making social media content. I focused mostly on making social media content and editing his packages on tripadvisor. I went with him on his 2 night Sahara tour and definitely recommend it to volunteers. It is optional and additional but you will receive a volunteer discount. It was absolutely worth it and I was able to film a lot of content that helped me promote his tours online. I will never forget the beautiful landscapes and kind people that I met in Ourrzazate, Zagora, and the Desert. I highly recommend this region to other travelers and I felt very safe here even as a young female solo traveler. I learned a lot about moroccan and berber (Amazigh) culture from Brahim and even picked up a couple words from the language. Shukran and tanmirt Brahim!

This was my very first Workaway experience in Canada, and wow, what an incredible journey! I feel truly privileged to have spent six weeks here at the motel on the island with such amazing people and to have had life changing experiences that will stay with me forever! Would absolutely recommend!

I spent two weeks on Emma and Marinó’s farm, it was my first workaway experience. They immediately welcomed me warmly and made their home my own. We mostly cooked and ate together, cared for the animals, went on quad bike rides, and "my highlight": Emma and I went horseback riding several times in this beautiful landscape. It was a fantastic experience for me, and I highly recommend it. Thank you for this great opportunity to get to know Iceland in your way. <3

Living with Ciara, Ray and the rest of the family was a wonderful experience. Before I even started to work for them, they provided me with a lot of helpful information. Everytime I had questions (sometimes even the same one multiple times), I always got an answer and they could help me out. The workload itself was very manageable and I never had a day (in the 2 months I stayed there), where I felt overwhelmed or completely lost. The children are wonderful to work with and I had a lot of fun spending time with them. I never felt judged or under pressure, even when I made a couple mistakes along the way. The location was PERFECT! Not only did I get connected with a lot of other au-pairs really quickly, the surrounding area has a lot of events and other spots that you need to visit. U can get everywhere by bus and even reaching the city center only takes an hour. I had a lot of freedom in what I wanted to do while I stayed here; I could even get a Friday off, for a longer weekend, so I could travel to Belfast. I would DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in Ireland for a couple months.

I've workawayed in this farm for 2 weeks in september... and it's been a wonderful experience! I was there with my boyfriend, and we connected so well with the whole family. From the first moment, they've been extremely kind with us, and we've always felt very welcomed at their farm. They are amazing people, and they made us feel like guests, cooking delicious food and helping us with whatever we needed. We worked 4/5 hours every day, and we did various tasks, regarding either the animals or the maintenance of the garden: we collected some vegetables, fed the chickens and the dogs, helped to carry the woods and so on. We had also a lot of time to rest, and the possibility to have a lot of çay-breaks, that were really appreciated! We also helped the team of people who work there everyday: even if they didn't speak english they were very nice and always smiling at us, and we could understand them anyway through gestures. The farm is a perfect example of how people can live in an ecological way, in harmony with nature: everything is reused, and you will mostly eat fresh food coming from their beautiful garden. I would suggest this experience to anyone who wants to escape from noisy and crowded cities, and try to work in contact with nature for at least once! You can be sure that you will enjoy it. Thank you again to the whole family, I whis you all the best, and I hope that we will meet again!

My partner and I stayed with Mustafa for 2 weeks and we really enjoyed it. Our main task was to lead English conversation classes with Turkish people who wanted to improve their English. The classes were 4 days a week and every session lasted 2 hours. It was very interesting meeting different kinds of people and getting to know them. The sessions are intense but also very fun because you are having interesting conversations with amazing people. We enjoyed leading the classes and helping people improve and becoming better teachers. We stayed in Mustafa’s apartment and slept in a private room in a bunk bed and shared the bathroom with a third volunteer and Mustafa. There is also Cersei the cat who was a sweetheart. (if you don’t like cats, just don’t go to Istanbul😉) Workawayers in this position need to be very independent and make sure they have all the information they need on when and where they need to be. Mustafa is a kind man who very graciously shared all the space in his apartment and was always polite and friendly to us. However, he worked a lot, and we saw him only 1minute in the morning on his way to work. Communication will need to come from the volunteer. You might see him at work because the language sessions take place in his café where he spends most of his time, but he was almost never at home when we were there. This was comfortable for us because we could work from home on our own projects without bothering anyone or being bothered. You will be responsible for your own water, food, and transport to the café where the classes take place (30 min by metro; the station is 5 min walk from the apartment and then a 15 min walk from the metro station to the café). The classes are 4 days a week (days sometimes change) in the evening from 19.30h until 21.30h or on Sunday from 14h until 16h. Though you technically only work 2 hours a day, it takes around 3.5 hours round trip. We enjoyed the experience because it gave us the opportunity to visit Istanbul, meet many amazing people (Turkish and other volunteers) and hone our teaching skills.

Time well spent! I have spent 2 months at Sverre´s farm (August, September), and it was a really lovely experience. My main work focus was the cowhouse - cleaning of the barn, taking care of the calves, feeding of milking cows and giving medication to a sick cow. My work schedule was divided into 2 shifts - morning and evening, in between, I had a ton of free time. You´ll be expected to take on the responsibility for the work in the cowhouse and the well-being of the animals. The workload is adequate, and you should be able to do it without any issues. The farm is located in a beautiful valley. There are a lot of opportunities for hiking, cycling, or just wandering around in nature. Everybody in this family is super welcoming and very kind. You´ll have dinners in the main house, which will be filled with laughter ( I´m looking at you, Tuva). If you are interested in learning more about animal care, Sverre is the right guy! I had so many questions at the start, and he patiently explained everything to me. I am very grateful for all the opportunities to improve my animal care skills. Thank you Sverre, for letting me try everything I was interested in and for trusting me with different types of tasks. I really appreciate it. With lots of love, Tereza.
