I had a wonderful time staying with this host. They were very kind and understanding, and even though my English is not very strong, I was able to have such a valuable experience. The work included cleaning paddocks and flowerbeds, as well as moving firewood for the wood stove. Some tasks required physical strength, but they never felt overwhelming. I also appreciated that there was always enough time to rest and recharge, so the work never felt too hard. The meals were always delicious, and I even had the chance to try kangaroo meat, which allowed me to experience the unique flavors of Australia. The host’s home is surrounded by beautiful nature and lovely animals, and the star-filled night sky was absolutely breathtaking. The two weeks I spent in the great outdoors were truly unforgettable and full of happiness. Thank you so much! Seishiro, Yusaku

Jonah and Dana came to stay with me for a month while I was recovering from a foot injury, and they brought much fun and joviality with them! They helped with the daily dog-walking, various menial tasks, and house-sat all the animals for me while I took a trip down south. More importantly they were very good company. Dana is a good cook and we enjoyed many leisurely breakfasts to start the day. I was very impressed by their inflatable flamingo and unicorn, which they would take down to the river when it was sunny. The three of us even had a 'date night' one evening with music and wine. And how could I not mention the chicken hats? Hilarious.

Staying at S. Fiora with George and Sophie was such a special experience. Life off-grid in the Tuscan hills wasn’t always easy, but it was real, rewarding, and full of small moments I’ll always remember. The kids are just wonderful!! So smart, funny, and curious. I loved chatting with them and sharing those simple everyday moments; they brought so much warmth to my stay. George and Sophie welcomed me openly and trusted me in the work, which made me feel included right away. I left S. Fiora not only with memories of the place, but also with a deep appreciation for the family and their way of living.

Baptiste came to us in early July 2025 with his two friends, Zac and Noé. Initially, the plan was for them to come just for one week to pick up about a kilometre of large, old hardwood fence posts from our smaller farm, cart them all back to our principal farm, and chop them up into manageable firewood. What ended up happening was that they finished this job in lightning speed, including immaculately cleaning out the old woodshed and stacking their chopped wood as if it were an art installation. By the end of the week, it was quite clear that we didn’t want them to go anywhere, and they, thankfully, didn’t want to leave. They ended up staying with us for three wonderful, seriously fun and highly productive months throughout winter (with fires burning every night and wood stores continuously restocked) and into spring. Turning to Baptiste specifically (aka Bat or Batman): he is polite, has impeccable manners, is extremely driven, a perfectionist, has an excellent work ethic and is really good company. Every single morning he was up at the crack of dawn, well before anyone else, and straight to work. He preferred to get stuck into his jobs early so he could spend his afternoons either at the gym, going for long walks with our golden retriever, Honey, or playing the guitar. Baptiste is very strong physically, with a clear passion for fitness, music, and food - and motorbikes. He’s an excellent singer and guitarist and we were really lucky to be serenaded in the evenings in front of the fire with his music. I’d get up every morning to find an empty dishwasher and a spotless kitchen. Washing in the laundry was always folded, and tea towels and towels were rolled in a way that I'll never be able to replicate! Baptiste is also an extremely talented cook and treated us to countless delicious dishes during his time here: crêpes, brioche, the best pizza dough, his mum’s lasagne, bolognese sauce, homemade pasta, biscuits, caramel, coconut shrimp curry, French toast, and more. He cleared the dining table every evening and was always first into the kitchen to help tidy up afterwards. His English is completely fluent, truly impressive, and he constantly surprised me with his vocabulary and knowledge of the language in general. Some of his other jobs during his time here included: washing the house (it's a big house) and walled courtyard with a high-pressure cleaner; spending several days cleaning out the sheep yards of manure, then loading it into the ute and spreading it over lawns and garden beds; mowing expansive lawn areas; cleaning our oven until it sparkled; restoring several Victorian hinges for repurposing; raking the front gravel; conditioning our leather chairs; taking Honey to the vet for her arthritis injections on two separate occasions; cleaning my car inside and out; moving a huge number of boxes and pieces of furniture to storerooms (including up and down very steep staircases); bringing the contents of the barn at our smaller property to the barn at our principal property; taking a ute load of wood to our beach house and stacking it; clearing the working farmyard and building/burning a bonfire there; and taking numerous rubbish bins to the local transfer station once a week. In addition to this, Baptiste spent three days in the sheep yards with our team, lamb-marking the spring lambs — a physically demanding job involving drafting off ewes from lambs, picking up each lamb (many weighing up to 15 kg), and placing them in a cradle to be vaccinated, castrated, tail-ringed, and ear-tagged. Baptiste tackled this tough job as though he’d been doing it for years, and his help and work ethic was appreciated by everyone. And then, on top of all of this, probably Baptiste's two greatest achievements during his time here with us were: 1) His involvement in the complete renovation of an old bedroom with an existing but decommissioned ensuite (now known as The Frenchies’ Room). Baptiste meticulously prepared the space for painting — cleaning, sanding, filling gaps in the timber ceiling panelling, repairing plasterwork, applying layers of BondCrete — and then finishing all the painting just in time for the carpet to be installed a few days before they left. 2) Taking on the enormous task of restoring three large early-1900s Oregon wood farm gates. Baptiste spent weeks sanding, repairing, and restoring the wood and metal hinges and bolts, bringing them back to life beautifully. They were re-hung just two days before the boys returned to France, complete with custom spacers to prevent them from dragging on the ground. As a memento of his time with us — and as a nod to his musical talents — Baptiste carved a beautiful miniature guitar from wood, which will form part of the décor in The Frenchies’ Room to forever remind us of him and the incredible work he did here. Baptiste is a beautiful soul and when he smiles, his eyes do too. He’s wonderfully polite, well brought-up, thoughtful, kind, and considered. He’s a deep-thinking young man who speaks from the heart. Bat has been an absolute joy to have with us. His contributions were many and varied, and his presence was deeply appreciated every single day. If you’re reading this because Baptiste has applied to stay or work with you — just say yes. You’ll be very lucky to have him. We are sincerely going to miss all three fabulous Frenchmen. They’re the best and will always have a place to call home here with us. I know we’ll see each other again. Thank you so much, Baptiste, for everything you have done for us — we’ll miss you. x

What a fantastic experience staying with Knut. He's a real outdoor adventurer, and I went fishing and crab fishing with him. I had a really great time, and he lets you share in his everyday life—it's great for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Norwegian traditions. Knut cooks very well, and I tried freshly hunted deer and fish. Paul, a long-term workawayer, was staying with Knut, so I could only stay for two and a half days... but it was worth every minute. He showed us the area, and we helped in the garden and with organizing the outdoor area. His home is like a museum, and you can find many interesting things there. This was my first workaway, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would have loved to stay longer. Thanks Knut.

I had an absolutely amazing three weeks with Kiki and Mo! Their place is truly wonderful, and they are such kind hosts. I’ve brought back so many special memories from my time there—it was a unique and unforgettable experience. I’m still smiling when I think about the beautiful women’s circle with Kiki, and the long, relaxing days at the beach with Mo. Those moments, along with the overall atmosphere, made my stay truly special. Absolutely wonderful!

I can’t even begin to describe the love and gratitude I feel for Steve and Sandy—but I’ll try. These past two weeks have been truly incredible, and I only wish I could have stayed longer. From the very first day, I was welcomed into their family with open arms. Sandy and Steve are some of the most caring, genuine, and loving people I’ve ever met through Workaway. One day when I was struggling, Sandy spent hours helping me heal with her bio essence, while Steve gave me the kindest emotional support. I quickly grew used to speaking clearly and loudly with Sandy, and I loved being able to help Steve with little everyday things that his blindness makes difficult. The food was always delicious and plentiful, and the accommodation was more than I could have hoped for—I even had a double bed and drawers (which I was especially excited about!). On top of all that, I had the chance to connect with other amazing Workawayers, which made the experience even richer. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone—it’s not just a Workaway, it’s an experience filled with love, care, and unforgettable memories. I’ll be back within two months. This isn’t goodbye, it’s just a “see you later

Simon was a very good and self-going person. Easy to communicate and easy to have in our home. Even when I had double-booked some activities, he was understanding and helped me with a solution. I only have good things to say about Simon. 😀

I spent a wonderful few days with Sarah in the casitas. The location is wonderful. Quiet, remote, and yet the charming little village Cadiar is only a few minutes away by car. Car is certainly a benefit to be more independent during a longer stay. Sarah is a wonderful host. She has almost inexhaustible energy and is always up for a laugh. I learned a lot about the garden, the emerging of the farm in the mountains, where barely anything existed before. And there was also a lot of handicraft work to do. There was also plenty of enjoyment to be had with good food featuring fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden. Sarah cooks very well.

Anele is such a lovely host! We had the best time together — hanging out in town, going to a great club, and of course surfing. El Médano is honestly amazing, it has literally everything you need. The house is super cool, with lots of nice people to meet and share good vibes with. I totally recommend this host to anyone looking for a fun Workaway experience. Only regret is that I could stay just one month!

We had a great time. Joshua picked us up from the bus station and we had an easy start. It was a reasonable amount of work for accommodation and food. There was enough time to go on our own andventure or on a trip with him and his son. Also we really enjoyed watching the stars from the rooftop. Thanks for everything!

Last December, right before the holidays, I spent two weeks with Francesc, and I can still feel the little remains and lessons from that time. He’s a wonderful person—being around him feels like therapy, and I’ve rarely experienced such patience from anyone (I tend to be laid-back and a bit all over the place, while Francesc is organized, precise, and punctual—you can imagine…). I think there are very few things you couldn’t talk about with him, things he wouldn’t have an opinion on, or things he wouldn’t be open to listening to. I’m deeply grateful for everything, but especially for the peace I felt: that from the very first moment I could feel at home, that I could meet your friends, and for the perfectly timed jokes. I’ll be back anyway!

My stay with Maranne and her partner James was a unique and valuable experience. Both are very friendly and caring, and the atmosphere in the house is calm and a little different from what one might usually expect. For me, it was an opportunity to gather new impressions and to reflect on my own experiences. They make sure that you are well looked after: there is always enough to eat, and during the work there are regular breaks, often with black tea and something to eat, so you feel strengthened for the tasks. The tasks were varied, and sometimes there was quite a lot to do, but much of this was also my own choice as I like to finish things properly. I stayed from Wednesday until Monday, and even had a free day where I decided myself to complete a wall project. The hosts were very happy with the result, and I felt good about contributing in this way. James also surprised me with a birthday cake and beer, which was very kind and made me feel truly welcomed. For someone who enjoys trying out new things and being part of a quiet environment, this can be a meaningful experience. (Note: the dogs shown in the profile are no longer there.)

It was an absolute pleasure to have Alys stay at my home for a couple of weeks. Alys is friendly, respectful and has a great sense of humour. While here she cleaned windows, weeded and tidied the garden, trimmed hedges, cleaned and sorted my very messy shed, as well as vacuuming and washing up nearly every day. Alys is easygoing, flexible and hardworking. I would definitely recommend Alys to other workaway hosts and look forward to her coming back to visit again.

My 15-day stay with Priscilla was a memorable first Workaway experience that I wholeheartedly recommend. Priscilla, Ange, and their entire family are truly warm-hearted and made me feel instantly at home. Between horseback rides, sessions with the beneficiaries of the association, Pilates classes, administrative tasks for the association, the daily chores on the farm and the lovely people I met, each day was rich and really fulfilling, in addition to the beautiful shared moments and delicious meals. Priscilla’s dedication, passion, and determination for all her animals, her projects, and especially the association are truly inspiring and exemplary. The work she does with people with disabilities is deeply touching, and the various projects using equestrian therapy are fascinating. It was a real pleasure for me to be able to contribute as much as possible to the association. I hope to return soon to learn even more, contribute further, and revisit this wonderful place. Thank you again for everything! :)

September 2025 Staying with Susan was my first experience with workaway and it was amazing! I stayed at her place for two weeks and I really loved it. Susan is a kind, funny and generous person ( and her baking/cooking is amazing) , she immediately made me fell very comfortable and welcomed. I was with an other workawayer, Adrianna, and our job was to take care of the garden like weeding, planting flowers... We also had to take care of the animals ( walking the cute dogs and feeding the hens ...) . We would work on mornings and we had the afternoons and week-ends off. I really enjoyed the meal time, since it was a real moment of exchange and also a way to practice my English. I would definitely recommend to someone the workaway experience with Susan ;) Thank you again Susan for those awesome two weeks !

I stayed with Isa and Carlos for about a week earlier this month (september 2025) with a friend Isabella. These two lovely souls took us in like family and provided a rich experience for the two of us. The work was interesting and educational, and we soon found ourselves invested in the projects at hand. Helping Isa in the gardens and kitchen, and Carlos on the construction of the new chicken pen (a very artistic endeavour!). They allowed us to fall into confidence with the tasks, working alongside us and explaining with detail how things could be done. They are very set up for hosting workers - both in accommodation and in personality. Their company was comforting and I found they went out of their way to provide a great experience for us two travellers. We shared big meals together, made from home grown ingredients and local produce (still some of the best food I’ve eaten on this international travel). We often ended the night with a film squashed on the couch together :) When the work was finished they invited us along to local social events which allowed us to explore the area whilst “working”. We will miss their presence, humour and hospitality. Highly recommend this to all workawayers - especially those who seek connection and time with their hosts. Hope our paths cross again! It was a real pleasure to host Anna! She’s smart, kind, and has a great sense of humor. Always positive and willing to help, she took part in everything from picking raspberries and making a delicious jam, to painting chairs and helping us get a heavy raft into the lake — showing both strength and a great attitude. She was respectful, easy to be around, and wonderful with the animals. Anna I’m truly grateful for your help and would welcome you back anytime :-D I highly recommend Anna to any future host!
