  My name is Rebecca and I used to be a translator and writer before I became an apple farmer! I was born and raised in the UK and have spent the past seven years living in beautiful northern Spain. I recently moved to a new property in Asturias - a rural homestead with beautiful mountain views. The homestead is in its infancy and there is much to do to get it up and running, including clearing junk and repairing the fencing. The previous owner (who passed away) was a cider producer, which explains approx. 80 mature apple trees in the land! There are also pear, cherry, fig, peach, walnut, hazelnut and kiwi trees, as well as some grapevines. There is a big greenhouse which has been weeded and tidied, but needs to be brought to life.
  
  I currently live with my 2 dogs, 2 cats and 6 chickens, all of whom are friendly and well behaved. As the homestead evolves I would like to introduce new animals such as sheep, donkeys, ducks and geese.
  
  The kind of help I'm looking for ranges from chopping firewood, strimming and dogwalking, to pruning and harvesting fruit, to general DIY & maintenance and creating different fenced zones in the land for animals/veg growing. It depends on the season, and your experience and interests. Mainly, I want to create a fun and productive atmosphere where people can exchange skills and connect, while contributing to a meaningful project.
  
  I have two double bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room. There is also a bell tent available. Electricity is provided by solar panels.
  
  The shared bathroom facilities are rudimentary but functional - hopefully soon to be upgraded. If you know anything about building compost toilets you are especially welcome!
  
  There is a small simple kitchen area, and a lovely outdoor terrace and BBQ for meals. I generally prefer helpers to cook their own meals, but I will of course provide the food.
  
  Access is a bit tricky as the mountain track is in bad shape, but I have a 4x4 and am very happy to collect/drop you anywhere. The track is within walking distance from the nearest village, where you can park your car if you need to. I am 30mins from Oviedo and 10mins from the nearest town - Pola de Laviana - where buses and trains go to both Oviedo and Gijón.
  
  There is very good phone signal in the area, but please note there is no WiFi router in the house.

  The homestead is half an hour from Oviedo in one direction, and the stunning Natural Park of Redes in the other. It is isolated but also well connected to all facilities via public transport, and within walking distance of where you can park your car.
