This was my first Workaway, and it truly was a wonderful experience. From the very first moment I arrived, Claire and Michiel made me feel completely part of the family. Claire, with her smile, her beautiful voice, her amazing cooking, her kindness and her huge heart; and Michiel, with his steadiness, his work ethic, his patience, his warmth and his ability to make you laugh. The atmosphere in the house is something special: calm, welcoming, and full of cooperation between everyone. The work is varied and always well explained (Michiel is a pro and really knows what he’s doing), and at the same time there’s plenty of space to enjoy, have conversations, learn, and compete to see who would win the next board game. Living with the other volunteers was also a great experience, it really felt like all of us, together with Claire and Michiel, formed a small team. The girls, Fleur and Perle, are an absolute delight: open, fun, and full of energy. They bring so much joy to the house, and spending time with them was one of the most beautiful parts of the experience. I’m leaving with the feeling of having found a home away from home, and with so much gratitude for how well I was treated. I can only recommend this experience 100%, and I’m sure I’ll be back as soon as I can.

If I had to describe the time with Kelly in one word I would choose Her project in Chiang Mai amazed me because she created a very special education space. Knowledge transfer away from performance pressure. The children can get creative and grow with joy in this free space. For that she invites constantly native speakers. During my time there I teached a boy german by playing cards, building airplanes out of paper and made contest of letting them fly. A very special and talented kid. In addition to this Kelly held a team building event for a company, which I was allowed to participate in. Very generously she shared all her knowledge about facilitating with us and build up such a strong team which was even able to communicate even they spoke completely different languages. Amazing! She is really living what she preaches about Teambuilding. Never had such a nice boss who put the needs of the group first, super open and transparent in the communication and very considerate about the mood and needs of every single one in the group. Through the atmosphere in the group she is building, every of her event will be a success. Kelly impressed me with her open, curious and very respectful way of being, never forget to enjoy life deeply. I wish you the best personally, for your present and all future projects. Having Mia stay with us was truly a wonderful experience. The time we spent together and all the activities we shared left a deep impression on me. I was especially amazed by the quality of her work Mia helped bring every task to perfect completion in such an incredible way. I can guarantee that anyone who hosts her will never be disappointed with the project they have in mind. Mia is remarkably gentle and kind with animals, and this truly stood out. It made not only me, but also the other volunteers, feel connected and comfortable around her. I wish you the best of luck on your journey, and I hope our paths cross again someday. Joe

Kimmy is a great person to have around. She is kind, caring en thoughtfull. She helped us around the house, played with the kids, took them treeclimbing in the forrest. Which was a blast. Besides that she is a great cook, she introduces different Chinese recipes to us and the kids. Thanks Kimmy! Wishing you all the best!

Coming as a workaway-er, leaving as a friend. We (me and my dog) had the most wonderful time. Right from the start it felt so welcoming and warm. There was plenty of work and lot of appreciation for everything that was done. The area is beautiful, the possibilities plenty. We had way too little time for everything we wanted to do/ experience. Elke and Edward are kind, fun, helpful, generous and open. I had a hard time leaving and really made new friends. The pets should not be forgotten, they were super sweet too. Hope to come back again.

My experience has been totally amazing!! I spent almost a month in November. From the first day I was thaught how to milk the goats and make cheese, what an absolute pleasure!! Manja is a very good and direct teacher which makes you learn quickly:) Me and the other volunteer would share the milking and go every other day (together with Manja) , while the other one made breakfast <3 After breakfast we would work until lunch. (But you can also manage your hours as you want!) The cooking was shared between everyone, allowing us to taste wonderful Balkan food but also learn our selfs how to cook from what is found in the garden! So much fresh veggies<3 I learnt a lot about sourdough thanks to Manja! And ate sooo much amazing pasta Fresca from Maks<3 I was helping with some woodworking and painting in the house. Also fixing the chicken coop, preparing the garden beds and planting garlic! The location is so wonderful with many beautiful walks nearby, either among the hills or in the forest. A bus can take you to Koper and then to Ljubljana if you want! We also tried hitchhiking wich worked alright, we met many kindhearted Slovenians<3 If you’re an animal lover you have ofcourse the goats, but also the big cozy cat Bishma and the lovely dog Lily who will follow you around and give the best emotional support;) I really deeply recommend a stay here!!<3 Ps. Keep eating a little bit of okynnes for me;)

Jose (but everybody calls him Pichu) is an oustanding person. Hardworker, fast learning, full of skills it is a pleasure to work with him. Moreover he's nice, funny and a marvellous professional cook. I couldn't find the words to reccommend him properly. He came as a workawayer and left as a true friend. See you soon, Pichu.

Growing up in the city I have always been surrounded by noise, speed and crowded places. That is why experiencing provincial and farm life touched me in a very special way. The moment I arrived and saw Anne’s home and farm I was immediately captivated by its simple and natural beauty. But more than the scenery it was their kindness, warmth and genuine hospitality that truly amazed me. Each day felt meaningful filled with new lessons, quiet reflections and experiences that allowed me to grow in ways I did not expect. Working alongside Anthony made me appreciate the value of dedication and sincerity. His determination, patience and hard work are reflected in everything he does. He is a simple, humble man yet capable of so many impressive things on his farm. I am sincerely thankful, Sir, for allowing me to learn from you and for guiding me with patience and understanding. Anne, on the other hand, opened my eyes to the quiet beauty of life itself. She taught me through her actions and words that peace and humility can be found when we allow ourselves to slow down and embrace the moment. Even when I made mistakes, she corrected me gently and always uplifting, never discouraging. Her grace and kindness made every day lighter. These two weeks passed so quickly because I truly enjoyed every moment in their company. The memories, wisdom and simple joys I experienced will stay with me for a long time. Their kindness and hospitality will always be remembered with deep gratitude. I sincerely hope that more guests will have the chance to visit, learn and experience the beauty of their home, their farm and their generous hearts. It is a place where life feels simpler, lighter and genuinely meaningful.

I had such a great time at Emma's and Ove's place, I didn't even want to leave. It was a pleasure to experience this kind of lifestyle, being close to nature and animals, picking ingredients from the garden. The job was never too hard and I always received clear instructions. The conversations during working were eye opening and I learnt a lot. The bikes and kayaks, sailing and climbing opportunities make it easy and fun to enjoy free time around the islands. Other than that, everything is as described, the house is really comfortable and the food provided was always sufficient:) I highly recommend this place.

I had the pleasure of spending a few days with Michael, and it was a genuinely great experience. He is respectful, kind, easy to communicate with, and very curious about the culture and daily life in Oman. Michael showed real appreciation for the places we visited and the people he met. He has a calm and positive personality, and he blends naturally with the environment around him. Spending time together felt effortless and enjoyable. Any host will appreciate his good manners, his friendly nature, and the energy he brings. I would be happy to welcome him again anytime, and I truly wish him the best in all his future travels.

Thank you Cédric, Sylvie and Clara for the wonderful two weeks I've spent with you. The family is truly amazing and gives you a lot of space to try new things. I helped Cédric building and Sylvie with gardening and cleaning. It was truly a wonderful experience that I won't forget. It was a lovely experience! Cindy is a very welcoming and caring host and the place itself has a very unique feeling. I enjoyed my time there helping out with outdoor gardening or indoor maintenance tasks as well as spending time with the family and getting to know them. Everyone is so interesting and fun to be around but I particularly enjoyed the late evening talks with Cindy and all the new perspectives we got to discuss. I would love to visit the place one more time. All the best, Ugne

Jonathan & Brenna, were exceptional volunteers and they soon felt part of the family here. The work they did, went over and above the daily routines, however their passion to help the foundation was clear from day when they arrived. Not only did they they go above and beyond in the daily tasks, but they also thought outside the box to think more longer term about the foundation and helping it to become more sustainable and also improve ways of working for future volunteers. They learnt a lot about medication and surgeries from our doctors here, as well have the opportunity to assist in some of the routine surgeries. They did not want to leave, and we did not want them to leave either. Hard working individuals, who raised the standard and brought the other volunteers on a journey with them. We can wait to roll out the red carpet to one day welcome them back.

I was supposed to do a two-week volunteer program at Caroline's School, but in the end, I stayed for over a month and a half. This has been an experience that has positively and completely changed the way I see life. I've learned a lot from the children and from the African culture! Caroline does a wonderful job with this school, giving children from very limited resources the opportunity to study. The school is in Taru, and less than 30 minutes away is a Maasai tribe village that I was able to visit. I also did a safari at a reasonable price since the school is located near the entrance of Tsavo Park, where the safaris take place. Plus, Mombasa is just a 2-hour drive from the school, with beautiful beaches! I could visit on Friday after school or early Saturday and return Sunday night. Doing volunteer work at this school has been a rewarding experience that I highly recommend! 😊

I’m very thankful that I had Joe here. He was extremely helpful, clean, tidy and respectful, he observed my house rules and we had a good exchange of experiences and ideas. For me it was a very beautiful and precious experience. I can definitely recommend Joe as a Workaway-er and I am very happy that I not only had a very reliable and good helper and support with my projects around the house and the garden, but a true friend as well! He is welcomed any time back! Thank you very much Joe!

There s no enough stars to describe these guys! Their character, generosity, kindness, work ethic, and adaptability in any situation are all exceptional. If you want to treat yourself, I encourage you to spend time with them! They were supposed to stay with me for a month, and almost six months went by... I thank them again and hope to see them again soon!

Jakob spent about 2 months in our community. These 2 months coincided with the harvest and settlement, in which Jakob provided us with invaluable assistance. He is a very hardworking, kind-hearted, and highly responsible person. He very quickly became a member of our community. We wish Jakob success and highly recommend him.

Felix is the good vibe workawayer, always smiling, nice conversation, dedicated to his task, adaptable and responsible. No need to micro-manage, he would do the task as if it was for him. I was happy to see how he was interested in learning new skills and also about meditation. He would join me everyday for the meditation and also for the dog walk. He was great with them and if you are looking for a dog keeper, you have your man. I can highly recommend him and he is welcome back anytime.

Keisuke and Kurumi arrived at our home with their two wonderful children Kioske and Konnoka and immediately became part of our family! They were so hard working and nothing was ever too much to ask . They were always very patient, kind and considerate and showed great initiative and attention to detail with all tasks that we worked on together. During their 1 month stay with us, Keisuke and Kurumi helped with a wide variety of tasks including painting, concrete grinding, gardening, brush cutting, cooking, cleaning and helping design a paving project on the computer (Keisuke is a bit of a whizz on the computer!). Kurumi made many delicious meals and is a wonderful cook and we enjoyed many nice conversations together. The kids Kioske and Konnie were so easy to have around the place and they formed a special connection with our children. We would welcome the K family back any time, they were a real blessing for us - we miss you!! We wish you all the best on your continued workaway adventure and we very much look forward to seeing you again - either at our place, or at your home in Japan!

Lurah Bilut is such a peaceful place. The moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Zaki and Yati. Together with other volunteers, we helped around the kitchen, harvested fruits at the farm and garden, did some general cleaning, and so on. I got to spend time with the kids, the family, and hang out with the locals. It was also really cool meeting other volunteers, I learned so much during our cultural exchange. The game evenings were fun. Zaki took me on a bike tour exploring the village. And Yati's dishes are superb. We were served with delicious meal every day, and Zaki always told us to eat more. They are kind and generous, I was really comfortable with them that it actually felt like home. I'm still glad that Zaki accepted my request, because otherwise, I would have missed the opportunity to immerse myself in a Malay community, enjoy the great food, and explore this lovely village. Like I mentioned during one of our late-night treehouse talks, I would have never imagined that one day, I would be up at a treehouse at night, with a group of people that I've met just a few days, with a glass of 'air sirap' on hand, just sitting there chit-chatting while enjoying the night breeze. It was bizarre, yet an amazing experience that I will never forget. Thanks for having me, Zaki and Yati. Wishing you and your family good health and happiness always.
