Johanna was such a lovely Workaway guest to have stay with our whānau. She is a young, kind, and thoughtful person who brought such a calm and positive energy into our home.
She was amazing with the kids, very helpful around the house, and great at using her initiative to see what needed doing and just get stuck in. Johanna loved cooking and made some really yummy meals for us, even baking fresh bread which we all enjoyed.
She helped with weeding, farm chores, and getting our house back in order after a busy summer, and was always happy to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
You were such a blessing to have around, Johanna. We really enjoyed your company – especially our movie nights and even the occasional bit of terrible reality TV together! 😄
We hope you have an amazing rest of your travels. Please come and visit us with your dad when you are back in New Zealand.
Much love from
Jacinda, Jason, Harlem, Kora and Sonnyjoe

I spent a really good time with Elisa and Marc.
Despite the unusual bad weather during February, they kept a nice energy!
Open and motivated to learn, it was a pleasure to welcome them.
I gladly recommend them to other hosts.
I will miss them.
Thanks to both for our time shared

Maddy is an amazing young lady , she tackled everything with enthusiasm and joy. Zuma loved the long walks and all the love she got from her. Maddy was a great help in the yard, organising and cleaning the garage and much more. We had fun cooking together and she prepared a delicious carbonara for us. We wish her well in all of her future travels and adventures.

This workaway placement will offer you the best of Canada. The setting offers the unusual combination of a beautiful, natural setting, with a nearby village for necessities, while being located only a very short distance from one of Canada’s top urban centres, Vancouver. The home is surrounded by trees, a lake, and gorgeous rock formations that are blanketed in moss. Inside this west coast home you will be supported with everything that you could possibly need as a house sitter and cat sitter. The food is healthy and is supplied in generous amounts. While I was there during the winter, the home was always warm. Winter is mild on their island, when compared to many other Canadian regions. You can pop down to a local café and have a stunning view as you sip your drink. The two cats are quite independent. When they are familiar with you, they will come along and cuddle, which will make your day. Both Carla and Steven are welcoming and kind hosts. They are happy for you to learn about their home and their island. Carla has a special spirit about her. I found her to be sincere and quite gracious. Communication was excellent from start to finish. You will be fortunate to complete a workaway placement at the home of Carla, Steven, Bean and Boo. Best wishes to all!

Where do I start,
This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn't have asked for a better family to do that with. I spent 7 weeks over January and February, with Emma, Tony, Darragh and Cian doing a mix of house work and Au pairing. The family made me feel very welcomed from the day I arrived and tested my luck with a game of pie face Cian had gotten for Christmas that same night (thankfully I was in luck, Tony not so much).
All the work that was part of the position was very fair and I never felt it was too much. Emma always made sure to check with me if I didn't feel comfortable doing any of the tasks requested and if any tasks went over the 5 hours it was sure to be taken from another time that week.
As the family says on their profile their location is quiet rural so having a form of transport is very convenient. If you aren't sure what to do with your time off Emma and the family always have recommendations to give and are very kind to offer you a lift if it's on the way to their various activities.
Being that I spent so much time with this family I didn't feel like it was just work, I genuinely built connections with all the members of the family including the animals Bruno (cat) and Lola (Dog). I was also given the opportunity to meet some of their extended family who are just as lovely and accommodating. Anyone who is lucky enough to get the chance to spend time with this family won't regret it.
To Emma, Tony, Darragh and Cian, thank you so much for inviting me into your family and I will forever appreciate this experience with you all. I look forward to the next time our paths cross again but I have no doubt that it will be too long :)

Pauline was here, for about 3 weeks helping Maria and her family with their English lessons, to keep their project running. Talking with them they are really happy to have had Paulina at their home. Learning from each other.
Pauline is full of energy and ready to help with any task, creative and such a sweet soul that you need to have around , always smiling and learning about everything. I had the opportunity to be her guide, and I am so happy to hear that she enjoyed the places we visited. I can't recommender her enough. Thank you so much for the time, conversations, the French lessons and all the positive energies that you bring to our place. Please bear in mind that you will always have a home with us.
Always the best chele...ajuua!

Well, having Yve staying with us was out of the ordinary. Aside from being an awesome, sweet and bright human being she happened to be also a top marketing specialist. We all thought she was coming to help with the different farm projects but she ended up directing, guiding and developing the idea of our Ayurveda & Yoga retreat program that we are starting here at our place. It was great to see her proficiency and commitment to this project always with a bright smile on her face and totally selfless, a total gift from the Universe. Personally, I love watching her showing up for Yoga practice, usually twice daily and allow herself to open and flow with what was offered. She is definately an asset to any host that needs not just hands and charm but a bright person on board, thank you so much Yve!

We chose this place because we had a very good feeling about Randy beforehand. Communication was quick and friendly, and we had a relaxed call before arriving. Looking back, it might have been helpful to discuss the work expectations, tasks and schedule in more detail during that conversation.
Randy kindly picked us up in Prince George, which we really appreciated since it is about an hour away.
During our first days we learned the daily routine, got to know the animals and especially enjoyed spending time with the dogs. We also got to see preparations for a sortings event that was taking place that weekend, which gave us some insight into that part of ranch life.
At the event we were asked to help with the cows. The way animals are handled in that environment was different from what we personally feel comfortable with. Because of this, we decided that we would prefer not to participate in that task. After this it became clear that our expectations and comfort levels regarding this type of work were different, and Randy decided that the exchange is not the right fit.
For people who are interested in experiencing a very authentic Canadian ranch lifestyle and working closely with cattle and ranch routines, this could be an interesting opportunity.
Our accommodation was a small cabin next to the house. It is simple and rustic, with a small heater. The cabin does not have running water or a toilet, so those facilities are in the main house. For people used to basic ranch living this may be completely fine, but it might be helpful for future Workawayers to know this in advance.
Randy kindly drove us back to Prince George, which we appreciated.
Overall, we felt that the expectations and environment were simply not the best match for us personally, which is why the stay ended early. We wish Randy and future Workawayers all the best.

It was great having Klementina (Klem) staying with us. She was not only very helpful with the different farm projects but also gave a wonderful input into the Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat program that we are starting here at our place. She is a super proactive, creative, thorough and enthusiastic person to be with in any undertaking. Klem also happen to like cooking and she moves really well around the kitchen, we really enjoyed what she cooked for us. Personally I was very happy to see her take a big leap in her Yoga practice, she is a natural Yogini. Definately recommend her to any host that needs not just hands but a bright woman. Thank you Klem, safe travels!

I stayed for 2 months (Jan-March) and had a great time here. As others have mentioned, the exchange is fair and I actually found the accommodation to be quite nice. I got to snowboard a lot, and the other volunteers were some of the nicest I have met in any work exchange. It is a nice resort, and while it's not big or impressive for California standards, we got some pretty epic snow in later February and March. Sometimes there are different expectations for men and women, and there can be a learning curve with communication. Almaty is a cool city and a great starting point for exploring central Asia. Plus the people here are generally really nice. Thanks, Tal. Happy to answer questions.

Our Experience at Isabel´s place was just simply AMAZING! We had such a good time at the farm, we planted lots of trees, like lots of trees, which was so cool, helped cleaning the river and collect wood, clear agroforest strips, helped renovating the guest house and had generally varying and fun tasks. Isabel is an awesome cook, we enjoyed a lot of meals together and Isabel included us in her daily life and the community of her lovely town. It´s just a 15 min walk from the farm to the town center where you can do yoga, eat awesome sandwiches at a friends bar, enjoy the market on Saturdays and there is a LOT of cultural activities nearly every day! Isabel has a lovely dog, a cat and the cutest pig, we will miss them all. Isabel is truly so kind and takes care of everyone helping her, considering everyone's needs, brings good music and vibes to work and ist just an awesome host! We truly know we gained a new friend in Isabel and will see her again soon. Thank you so much for EVERYTHING!

Had a wonderful 3 weeks volunteering out here! It was a perfect place to stay to take a break from the hustle of cities and backpacking. Anamé's home is tucked into the jungle, making it so peaceful and filled with sounds of nature. She provides many jobs that you can choose to do for your day, indoor and outdoor. It was great to work with my hands outside moving stones, digging up mud, and repairing the road! Thank you Anamé! I know it's your first time doing WorkAway, but you've done a great job taking care of us volunteers :) Also, Missie her dog is just the absolute best, I'll miss her so much! Thank you for all your kindness!

Victor and Sophie stayed with us for almost two weeks. They are hard-working, positive, humorous young people. They worked outside, pruned trees, chopped wood, weeded, and prepared delicious meals. Ernest and I will be happy to stay in touch with them now that they are moving so close to us. We wish them every happiness in their new home and homeland.
