Hi everyone!
My name is Petr, I am 27 and I come from the Czech republic. When I was studying my bachelors in architecture in Prague, I felt more and more keen (probably because of ongoing covid lockdowns) on start travelling again and exploring the world further. I started with doing my master studies in Brussels. The international community of my classmates, who came from every continent possible, made the two years there the best time in my life. Since then I became even more interested in exploring and learning about other cultures.

Volunteering seems like a perfect opportunity to do exactly that, while it also allows me to help with interesting projects, gain more knowledge and skills that will for sure be useful in life. After collecting memories during roadtrips, backpacking, canoeing etc, I figured volunteering could be another great way how to gain some more experience. And while listening to podcasts during boring days at work, I learned about Workaway, so here I am...

Language wise, I speak Czech and English fluently, and quite reasonable level of Dutch.

I have an academic background in architecture, construction and urban planning. Besides that, I am educating myself in other topics like sustainability, psychology, sociology, but that is more as a hobby.

Since I was young my grandfather always took me with him for any repairs around the house. Him being a handyman, he passed a lot of his knowledge on me. The things I don't know I can learn quite quickly. I did a lot of part time jobs during high school which sometimes were on a building site, where I expanded my theoretic knowledge into the practical aspects as well.

I know how to work in a team or to even lead one, which I did several times both in studies, but also during my travels with friends, where I usually served a main organizer.

Besides things mentioned above, I enjoy music, movies, hiking in nature (whether it is a daytrip or a multiday hike). As an architect and urbanist with focus on sociological aspect of architecture and built environment, I am keen on exploring cities and villages and how they influence the lifestyle of people, and vice versa.
