Life is so much more rewarding when we are helping others. I worked as a first responder for 20 years near Washington, DC and was able to retire early to realize my dream of traveling abroad. In 2018 I spent 6 months in Panama volunteering at a wildlife refuge and then a hostel. The experience was so much fun and eye opening I have continued that voyage in another venue each year. This is my 6th year!! My Workaway experiences since then have been to Puerto Rico, and Ecuador, and the Bay Islands of Honduras . Over the years my responsibilities have typically been outdoors - taking care of the grounds, animals, and gardens. That's my passion.

I have always considered myself a country girl. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and work until the job is done. That doesn't mean all work and no play. Life is too short to take it for granted. My best qualities are that I am caring and understanding. Everyone has a story. Being a first responder has taught me attention to detail, thoroughness, self motivation, courage, adaptability, and respect. I can work as a team or just as well by myself.

I like to stay busy. Typically this means lending a hand to friends and family. My passion is the beach; the sun, the sand, and salty air. (watersports, fishing, boating, swimming, and of course sunbathing). I also love animals, especially dogs.
