I am a happy, friendly, highly motivated individual that enjoys experiencing other cultures (I am currently finishing up my second year teaching English in Spain, and I have LOVED every second of it), learning from new people I meet, and allowing it all to transform me into a more well-rounded, educated, empathetic individual. I am an extremely hard worker that enjoys helping others, and my favorite thing is just talking with people around a table or a campfire, hearing others' stories and their views and philosophies. I absolutely LOVE cooking, animals, hiking, reading, and I want to get more into cycling and camping. I am always ready for an adventure and to learn new skills! I am so anxious and eager to see more and more and more of the world, and allow the people I meet to teach me things and become my new friends. The more time I spend away from America the clearer I can see how the individualistic mindset there has created such a culture of loneliness, anxiety and consumerism, and I am looking to build the exact opposite of that in my life. I want to surround myself with people who enjoy doing life in community, learn from them, and also learn more about how to live a more self-sustaining, sustainable lifestyle that is also good for the planet and its people.

Writing/Editing: I have worked in the publishing industry for over ten years writing and editing. I am extremely confident in my ability to create clean copy and engaging content if you are needing any type of social media or promotional materials for any type of business you may have.

English Teaching: I have a bachelor's degree in English language and literature, and for the past two years I taught English to students ages 3-16 at a school in the region of Aragon, Spain. I have also given private tutoring lessons. I love teaching and am an extremely patient person, so I would love to work with your children or with you if English is not your first language and you would like to improve your English speaking or writing skills. ( I also attended Spanish classes and conversation circles while living in Spain, and I loved to practice my Spanish with others. I definitely want to continue my Spanish-learning and language-learning journey in general. It is astounding to me that almost every single person I have encountered in Europe can speak at least two languages, and I want to be able to do the same!)

Working Outside: While I do not have any formal experience in this area outside of being a part of a community garden, I always jump at the chance to get my hands in the dirt and plant/build/create something. I am extremely eager to learn more about any type of gardening/food sustainability practice, how to build structures, or keep bees (ANYTHING really!). What I may lack in formal knowledge I make up for in a willingness to learn and working hard for others when they entrust me with a job.

Pet-Sitting/Animals: I have pet-sat for others for years and cared for their homes while they are away, sometimes for weeks at a time. I take caring for pets and the property of others extremely seriously and treat it as my highest priority when I am performing a job for others. I have loved animals my whole life and am wanting to learn how to work with them in a more structured, productive sense (milking cows, building a chicken coop/caring for them, doing anything that involves horses just to be near them. etc. I would LOVE to learn how to make cheese or soaps or things like that). I derive a great sense of peace and groundedness from being near animals and caring for them.

Cooking! I LOVE to cook, especially for others. Cooking is my go-to when I need to relax my mind; the rhythm of chopping onions and smelling garlic simmering in the pan re-centers me every time. My roommates and I currently cook together quite a bit, and I have especially enjoyed learning some of the secrets of French cooking from my French roommate. Perhaps one of my favorite words I have learned in Spain is "sobremesa", which means the time spent around the table after a meal. Beautiful.

I am an active individual and love to be outside. Would love to add some more camping to my life! As an English major I love anything to do with words--breaking out the scrabble and popping a bottle of wine is my idea of an evening well spent. I could literally play Bananagrams forever haha. I love any trivia-related games. I can teach you to make a dang good American s'more around the fire. I am also big on hospitality and hosting others -- I've had a past job cleaning Airbnbs and I enjoy resetting spaces and making them as cozy and as welcoming as possible.
