Hello hosts!
My name is Thomas, I live in the beautiful Engadin Valley in Switzerland.
Last year I spent 6 months on my bicycle. First touring Chile and Argentina, from Santiago down to Terre del Fuego – 1 month in Europe - then 2 months in the US, from Seattle down the coast to San Francisco – then Reno down the Sierras and back to the coast to Santa Barbara.
The most important moment I had in this half year was in Colmuyao, Chile, I did help my camping host to build a wooden terrasse around his new hot tub. Even we had no common language and we worked only one afternoon it was the most touching experience for me. I still regret that I pulled forward, not finishing the job with him.
SO – to share my skills and my personal experiences with new people in new places made it to the top of my wish list of 2025!
As electrician, electrical engineer or self-employed entrepreneur - as a partner and companion - as father of two daughters – owner of two houses - I have a lot of experiences in different fields.
I have done renovation work on two old family homes dating back to 1650 and 1280 - with or without architect – with and without professional help. I did convert meadows into vegetable gardens, remove and build fences, plant and remove trees, helped my neighbors with carpenter and garden work.
I prefer to use existing and local materials, recycle building materials, but try to keep an eye on esthetics and professional use of materials – and the needs of a modern lifestyle. I know a bit about statics – have always an EXCEL list handy to calculate something. After all – I’m an engineer.
I made a few pieces of special furniture, a few lamps, wooden cups and bowls . . . a green house, terrasse . . .
I might not be the born babysitter – but kids often feel good around me – specially because I take them for real and belief in their capabilities - don’t treat them like children. I like to explain the world and how everything works to eager kids - or adults.
I like cats. That’s it. I can get along with dogs pretty good – I admit - some of them are really clever. Besides rabbits – I had to take care of 30 rabbits when I was a child – I do not have a lot of animal experiences.
I like to harvest or collect fruit, berries, vegetables, do a lot of (sugarless) preservation at home.
Since my work was mainly computer based I know a lot in this field, can handle EXCEL and Word, and – what a lot of people struggle with – I can perfectly organize data storage on a computer or on cloud solutions. By the way, also storage and organization of physical stuff in the house, basement or in the shed.
Besides engineering I am an Tamalpa Life/Art Process graduate, a technique which combines movement, dance, drawing, and writing, movement therapy and art-based psychology. I’m fascinated by psychology, philosophy, body language, body reading, face reading and any form of open or hidden communication. Thus, I have a few tools to support you in your life art questions.
I’m not politically active – but interested what is going on, to follow tendencies in politics, environmental behaviors, technical innovation – and like to discuss what it means for mankind and the space out there.
Music - unfortunately art and music was not present in my childhood - so I do not play any instruments. I like to sing . . . and to play music as a DJ . . . like modern artists like Nils Frahm, Hania Rani, Estas Tonne.
My reason for doing workaday is to meet new people, have new ideas and new insights. Also - I like projects and helping out with my knowledge. For me doing something that's fun is not work. It's live.Intereses

Algo más...
To be honest – I strongly prefer to have my own room to sleep – and a real bed.
I like water – so if there is a lake, a beach or nice river with pools I appreciate this. And of course a shower at the end of a hard working day.
I prefer organic and local food. I eat meat and fish in responsible quantity. I like cheese – but avoid other milk products were practical. I’m very interested and participating and willing to learn about other food principals – like vegan or vegetarian - use a lot of vegan and vegetarian products at home. My guideline is how I feel, how is my body feeling.
I like to cook – mostly people like what I prepare! I'm not looking for a place were I'm responsible for everyday cooking, but in turns it is fully ok. I also prefer places were we eat meals together.Más información
