We are the Stolz clan from beautiful Golden , BC, Canada.
We are a fun, adventure loving bunch of people who know how to work hard to get what we want.
We are on a 6 month Motorhome extravaganza, hoping to connect with some local people in the areas we visit and to help them with anything needed.
We have been hosting Workaways on our off grid property for the last 7 years and have loved the experience. Feel free to check out our host listing. We are excited to turn the tables and experience the other side of workaway.
Our family consists of Mom (Mel, 44), Dad (Jair, 43), Sister (Nova, 15), Brother (Asher, 15).
Mel is the main breadwinner for our family when at home and works at the hospital as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician. She enjoys her job and does it well as she is someone who has a keen eye for details and likes things being done properly. She is extremely comfortable in the kitchen and is skilled at making delicious meals. She is excited to learn about different cultural foods and preparation. She doesn't mind getting dirty and working hard outside and is interested in developing her skills with tools and construction. She is a very open and easy to get along with person with a big, beautiful smile. Ask her any question and you'll get an honest answer. Mel loves an impromptu dance party, reading, theatre, movies or any kind of story and tea! Mel is proud that her kids think she's weird and works hard to get a good eye roll from them.
Jair is a "build at home Dad" and the family workhorse around our 72 acre property. He has gained a lot of experience while developing our property through building roads, a yurt, an earthship, a shop, and many outbuildings over the years. He is a do it yourself kind of guy and takes a lot of pride in being able to find a solution to any problem he's confronted with. He's has extensive experience with, plumbing, electrical, solar power installaiton, natural building methods including cob and earthen flooring. He has some heavy duty machinery experience with TONS of time in a bobcat. Running a chainsaw is second nature and he can put a hard day of labour in with no complaints. On top of building he's also the family mechanic and can tackle any job from brakes to engine rebuilding. Some other things he does for work are: sewing projects (from mending clothes to industrial tarp construction), back country lodge caretaking and whitewater raft guiding. Jair loves playing music, adventuring outside in the wilderness (especially being on a river) and occasionally relaxing... for 5 minutes maximum!!!
Nova is our dirt princess. She's able to work outside and get dirty with the family, help out in the kitchen, take care of kids and do it all with amazing nails and high heels (if space in the RV allows). She's a competent cleaner, loves to spend time baking in the kitchen and especially loves to care for small kids and animals. She loves listening to music, Nancy Drew mystery novels, painting, graphic novels, rafting, skiing and getting fancy. If you need your makeup or nails done for a big event she's your girl!
Asher is our artisitic energizer bunny. He loves to just giv'er with anything he engages in. He is happy to work hard and is very strong for a 15 year old. He loves being outside as much as possible and willing to help on any project or be part of any adventure. He is a competent small engine mechanic and can clean a carburetor and tune it as fast as the best of them. He is skilled with a chainsaw and many other basic power tools and has been an active part in most of the building projects around our property. He loves skiing, downhill biking, kayaking, reading and is a fabulous artist.
Both the kids are currently doing school on-line but will have time everyday to be part of the work and community life.
Together we are complete package that will be able to meet a diverse selection of needs.
We're also pretty fun if we do say so ourselves! Some of our favourite family activities are games (the crazier the better), campfires, multi day rafting trips, playing music and laughing.
We know that accepting a family of four can seem a bit daunting but we are worth the risk. We will have our own "home" with us so won't need accommodation, just a space to park our RV and we are happy to talk about the work exchange layout to make sure everyone is happy.
We hope you are as excited to meet us as we are to meet you.Idiomas

We had planned to spend 2 weeks and stayed for 5.
While we were there, Gio was hosting around 20 volunteers and created a space for so much creativity, community and fun. It was magical!
Gio is super generous with all the toys and activities that it has to offer. He is good at… read more
