Hello! 🌍
My name is Chloé, I’m from Belgium. Curious and eager to discover new things, I’ve always been drawn to adventure and meeting people. I was lucky enough to spend part of my studies in Sweden, an experience that left a lasting mark on my heart and sparked a deep love for Scandinavia.

I have a degree in architecture and worked in Brussels for a little over two years. However, before it gets too serious, I need to take a break. I want to reconnect with values that truly matter to me: connecting with nature, building meaningful relationships, and embracing a more sustainable and balanced way of life.

I’m passionate about discovering new horizons—whether it’s landscapes, cultures, or traditions. I enjoy reading, drawing, visiting museums, and going to the theater... I’m also an active person: I run, hike, cycle, and have recently started climbing.
I’m resourceful, independent, and always eager to learn. Whether it’s crafting, sharing ideas, or helping with diverse projects, I’m always ready to pitch in.

I’m fluent in French and English. I also have a good grasp of Dutch and Spanish, and I love practicing whenever I get the chance.

After exploring northern Europe, I’m now excited to dive deeper into the southern part of the continent and discover everything it has to offer. I’m sociable, open-minded, and ready to bring enthusiasm and energy to projects where authenticity and sharing are at the heart.

I’m a trained architect and urban planner, but I’m also a devoted plant enthusiast. 🌿
Over the years, I’ve enjoyed taking care of small tasks around the house—gardening, painting, minor repairs,... While I wouldn’t call myself an expert with tools, I love learning and improving my skills through hands-on experience.
Even though I’ve never had pets of my own, I’ve always loved being around animals and taking care of them.

I stayed for about one month in February, and it was a great first Workaway experience! The place itself is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by forest, which I really enjoyed exploring during my free time. Although the farm is quite isolated (the town of Coruche is about 6 km away), there’s plenty of nature to enjoy. I spent many afternoons… read more going for runs in the forest, working out (there’s some gym equipment available), reading, and sharing good moments with other wonderful volunteers.

Volunteers stay in a comfortable house with three private bedrooms and one dorm room, which makes it easy to have your own space when needed. During my stay, Mila—who works full-time on the farm—prepared delicious lunches for us. In the evenings, we could either eat leftovers or cook for ourselves, and we were able to ask for the ingredients we needed once a week.

We usually shared lunch with Antonio, the host, who is a really friendly and welcoming person. He made sure we felt at home and was always open to listening to our preferences when it came to work. When I mentioned that I wanted to spend more time in the forest, he immediately found an arrangement that worked for both of us, which I really appreciated.

Work was typically from 9:00 to 13:00, with a 10-minute break in between. There’s a variety of tasks depending on the season and the weather. Since I was there in February and the weather wasn’t always great, I mostly helped with indoor chores like cleaning and tidying up the space. I also pruned some bushes, cleared leaves from the alley, set up a wedding table display for visiting couples, and cleaned candle pots. Mila supervised most of the tasks—she’s such a kind and lovely person! Even though she doesn’t speak English, communication was surprisingly smooth, and her explanations were always clear.

When I was there, we were three volunteers, which made it feel cozy and familiar, but I know the number of volunteers can change quite a lot. The week before I arrived, there were eight volunteers on the farm, so it can vary depending on the period.

In summary, there’s a nice variety of things to do. The staff is friendly, the food is amazing, and the surroundings are truly beautiful. It’s a peaceful place with plenty of space to connect with nature, meet other volunteers, and experience farm life.
All in all, a really positive and enriching first Workaway experience!
