Elena is an interesting, energetic and cheerful young woman who engaged in some great conversations with us and was always willing to get things done, regardless of how chaotic the task list happened to be. I highly recommend her as a workaway and would welcome her back anytime.

Thank you for the nice workaway experience we had during the two weeks at your home! You live in such a lovely area with the beautiful, clear river next to the house. Staying in the apartement next to your house felt like being on holiday ☀️ For us, it was the first time to do some gardening, but we liked it a lot. We hope you will get a lot of fruits & vegetables this year (and less weeds 😉). We also enjoyed cooking some (german) dishes for you and having dinner together! Thank you for the interesting conversations through which we learned more about Canada - especially about the beautiful peninsula Gaspésie. As we could make our own schedule, we also were able to visit some other beautiful places like the famous Bonaventure Island. ☺️ PS: We won’t forget your sourdough bread, it was so good (like the brownies, the carrot cake and the lobster roll)! All the best to you!

I stayed for two months at the Art Institute and felt welcome from the very first message I received. During my time there I helped Bernardo with some of the many things that could be done in and around the garden and what really stood out for me was his effort to give me tasks that matched the interests I had shared on my profile. He also showed great flexibility towards the timing of the work and was always ready to share his knowledge about sustainable practices. Bernardo invited me on trips with his family and to events, and the whole team treated me with pastries for my birthday. It was the perfect spot for me to enjoy being in nature (the birdsong and the blooming flowers in the garden in spring were amazing) and simultaneously a few feet away from music events, art shops, gelaterias and weekly board game nights. I got to learn Italian (they had set up lessons for me with one of the school's Italian teachers) and felt inspired by the many creative projects and classes happening at the art school. My personal highlight was the opportunity to try out mosaic and spend many hours, days, weeks puzzling with the ceramics to make a mosaic cover for the pizza oven.

What an adventure !! I was part of this group for 3 months and I already want to go back. The work can be demanding but picking plastic is such an amazing workout in nature ! I only met respectful, kind and funny people, the atmosphere is really nice. This project motivated me to sail more and opened my eyes that a new future, more responsible and close to nature, is possible. I fully recommend to volunteer with them!

I spent almost 2 weeks in Romans sur Isère and it was a great expetience. You have your owned bedroom a shared bathroom and the food served is very good. It is a discret family very welcoming. The location is perfect to visit romans and its surreounding. Romans is a pretty little town with some nice ballade to do in the surounding. It is a wellknnown area for wine as well. The work dine was mainly diy: adjusting and cutting shelved, wallpaper, sanding staircase. All manageable but time consumming! I would recommend this host!

Emma was an exellent helper in our service team for nearly six weeks. She prepered our place with us before the opening and was on our side as the guests came. She learned quickly and if times changed, for example on sundays with many taverna guests, she came to help her collegues without any problem and always friendly. We thank her a lot for her work and kindness and wish her all the best!

I had a really nice time at the hostel. The works was simple but fun, checking people in, showing them around, tidying up and restocking the bathrooms. Mostly in the evenings, no weekends. I got to meet a lot of good people and had more then enough free time to explore the area. The owners were very kind, good communicators and always availeble for questions or advise. I got to stay in a private room and had a separate private bathroom, plus a lovely buffet breakfast. Their homemade bread is amazing! All of this made me feel very lucky. Very aptly named hostel ;) I would 100% recommend staying here, as either as workawayer or a guest.

I just completed a two weeks stay at Sekiwa’s and his family’s place and it was a great experience. The entire family is very kind and hospitable and I encountered no problems while I was there. Sekiwa made it clear from the beginning that more than anything it is a cultural exchange and I had a lot of freedom during my stay. I was there after harvesting season and the workload would some days be pretty light and some days it would be a bit harder cutting wood in the sun and making/putting up fences. I found it to be a good mix, and Sekiwa is always very good at offering the volunteer to take a rest, and he was flexible with the free time. During my spare time his son would take me to some of his soccer matches and to some of the nearby hilltops where there are amazing views of the highlands, and one of the days off I went to the Great Zimbabwe ruins. The room/hut I stayed in was nice and spacious with a comfortable bed, and there was always enough of the delicious traditional meals that Sekiwa’s daughter Fortunate would make at the fireplace. The family conveniently have a water fosset at the compound with clean drinking water (which is not common in the area/village), and they also have enough electricity from their solar panels for you to charge devices or whatever. All in all, this is great opportunity to get to know the way of rural life in Zimbabwe, and I would highly recommend it to other travelers. Thank you to the entire family! Villads PS: Be prepared that the ride from Masvingo to the farm can be quite strenuous. You have to take a local taxi (Sekiwa helped to arrange it) which is essentially a minivan turned into a bus and it gets really cramped. We were an impressive 21 people when I had to get to the farm and the ride took around five hours on really bumpy roads. It is not very comfortable but it is definitely a fun experience and it is all worth it, but it is nice to be prepared. There is also another route that takes around 3 hours.

Ale is a wonderful person - kind, generous, and fun, who makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive! And he will definitely makes sure you're well-fed - I never felt hungry (which rarely happens!!). The food was not just delicious but also very healthy! His place is fantastic—surrounded by beautiful nature and close to many Pueblos Mágicos, so there’s always something interesting to do (hiking, climbing, visit this little villages,..). He’s constantly improving his property, (it is like a small private forest) and you can really feel the effort, care, and love he puts into it. The work was physical a lot of times, but I enjoyed every moment of it. I especially loved working working with the machete and taking care of the chickens and dogs ⚔️🐔 especially when they gave eggs haha His two dogs are exceptionally well-trained, full of energy, and great company. I especially loved Hifa (I hope I’m spelling her name correctly! 🤔😅) because she matched my energy level perfectly 🤣 they are both special characters. Will miss them a lot! Ale was also super kind to take me on several climbing trips, which were some of the highlights of my time in Mexico! Really, really thank you again for that!! He also helped me with many other things during my stay So I would definitely/100%! recommend coming here! You’ll learn a lot, meet wonderful people, and leave with amazing memories. Thank you again for everything—the laughs, conversations, great food, shared knowledge and experiences, climbing trips, and so much more. I hope to see you again soon! Wishing you all the best! 🦥

With Rainer you ll have lots of interesting subjects to talk about and for me it was superineresting to learn about his life as an artist and writer. He is living in a very special place where you ll meet kind and special people as neighbors. I especially enjoyed the music/ jam sessions with him and other people from the village. Also, there are many beautiful and adventurous hikes right next to his door and climbers will love the region even more. Thanks to Rainer and his adorable two cats I had a very memorable week in El Llano.

Where to start! I expected it to be a special experience, but it exceeded all my expectations. Shamser’s project is really amazing, and you can see its positive impact every single day: happy children who are curious, playful, and full of laughter. It was incredibly rewarding to contribute to this together with the other volunteers. There are many different ways to get involved: cooking with Didi, gardening with Sita, or building and carrying materials with Krishna. There is something for everyone, and you can also do suggestions yourself. Personally, I especially enjoyed spending time with the children. It put a big smile on my face! Shamser is very dedicated and genuinely interested in the volunteers and other people around him. If you need anything or have questions, he is always willing to think along with you and help make things happen. The school has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and in the village (just a 3-minute walk away) you can buy the most delicious samosas or stock up on fruit, vegetables, instant coffee, tea, cookies, and much more. It quickly becomes your home away from home, and the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and other adventures. After spending 1,5 week there in March, I returned for another 2,5 weeks in April, and I could easily have stayed even longer. The experience filled my heart with joy, gratitude, and many meaningful connections. I had the opportunity to experience the local culture and traditions, and the children even taught me some Nepali. It was an unforgettable and, I dare say, life-changing, experience. I hope to be back someday! Dhanyabad! (Thank you!) 🙏
