  WE ARE A FAMILY FARM IN THE CASAMANCE REGION OF SENEGAL LOOKING FOR TWO TYPES OF SUPPORT:
  (i) Motivated farm helpers and (ii) A reliable, experienced person for childcare. For our 4-year-old son, we are specifically looking for someone who can stay at least 3 months, as continuity and trust are essential.

  We are a Senegalese-German family passionate about nature and sustainable agriculture. Our farm (approx. 2 hectares, with solar-powered irrigation) follows agroecological principles, growing fruits such as oranges, mandarins, lemons, papaya and bananas, as well as seasonal vegetables. We also have cashew and mango trees and animals like chicken and sheep. We are continuously developing the farm, including agroforestry approaches and small-scale permaculture experimentation. As we are not experts ourselves, we especially value people who bring ideas, practical experience, and initiative.

  The Casamance has a rich culture! Our farm is situated in a zone where a lot of foreign people live. Local people are very hospitable and happy to share their culture with you. You have different cultural feasts. Abene, a village nearby, is famous for the music festival which takes place around new year.

  Ayuda

  HELP NEEDED – TWO ROLES
  1) CHILDCARE (priority – long-term)
  We are looking for a responsible and experienced person to support childcare for our 4-year-old son.
  - Minimum stay: 3 months (preferably longer)
  - Focus on daily routines, creative play, and creating a stable and reassuring environment
  - Experience with children is required (e.g. educator, nursery school teacher / kindergarden teacher, au pair, or similar)
  - We are looking for someone who is calm, attentive and aware of the responsibility that comes with caring for a young child
  
  LANGUAGE is an important aspect for us. Our son grows up multilingual (German and French + different local languages) and currently speaks more German. For this reason, French is strongly preferred in the childcare role, to support his language development in a natural and consistent way. At the same time, basic communication in English or German is helpful for daily coordination.
  
  This role is ideal for someone who values continuity and wants to be part of a family environment. As this role involves the care of a young child, we take the selection process seriously. We will ask for references and arrange a video call before confirming a stay.
  
  2) FARM SUPPORT (longer stays preferred)
  We are looking for motivated and hands-on people to support us with gardening, agroecology and the development of the farm.
  - A minimum stay of 2 weeks is expected
  - Longer stays (3–4 weeks or more) are strongly preferred, as it takes time to get familiar with the work and contribute independently
  - Interest in agriculture, permaculture or agroecology is important
  - Previous experience is a strong advantage, especially for those who would like to take more responsibility
  
  Basic communication in French or English is important for daily life on the farm.
  
  This experience is best suited for people who are proactive, observant, and willing to take initiative once they understand the tasks.

  We offer simple accommodation on our farm (private or shared room, depending on availability) and shared bathroom (WC, shower).
  
  Food:
  The main dish in Senegal consists of rice and fish and at our farm, too! Meals are provided during agreed working days (25hours/week, in line with Workaway guidelines). Food preparation and daily tasks are part of shared life on the farm. Volonteers are responsible for their own food expenses if working time is less than 25hours/week, which means 3 hours per day, 5 days a week)
  
  We cannot provide special meals or special diet (e.g. for vegetarians or vegans). If you need special food, you will have to take care of it yourself.
  
  We value a fair and respectful exchange, and appriciate people who are motivated to contribute and engage in daily life.

  Our farm is situated about 1.5km far from the paved main road (or about 20minutes walk) which connects to the two neighbouring villages Kafountine and Abene.
  
  You can reach the farm...
  ...from DAKAR: By taking a taxi brousse, so called 7places to Ziguinchor and another to Kafountine or Abene. The 7places from Ziguinchor to Kafountine costs 2500FCFA per person, luggage extra. There is also a ferry going twice a week from Dakar to Ziguinchor and back. There is no possibility to book tickets online and only at the harbour with your passport.
  ... from THE GAMBIA: By taking public transport or a taxi. We can arrange to pick you up if you are okay with paying the fuel costs.

  Our farm invites to relax and enjoy the nature, discover the traditional village of Diannah and neighbouring villages or spend some time at the ocean.
