  We are Nevenka and Nikola, a couple in their best years :), living on our small farm in Krasno, on the Velebit mountain, in Croatia. We produce organic vegetables, for us and our family, and we pick wild herbs that grow on the farm and on the mountain for tea. We have a small house of our own and an ex-stable which we have turned into another house. The farm is a beautiful piece of land right on the foot of the mountain.
  We have chickens that run freely during the day, some cats and a dog named Gare.

  This is a great opportunity to learn a lot about ecological and organic gardening. You will also be able to learn about natural healing remedies and medicinal plants and teas. You will probably learn a thing or two about chickens, mostly how to get them back into the coop in the evening :)

  Ayuda

  As we are - alas - feeling our age, we are looking for volunteers, ideally a m/f couple or two men (because of some manual labor), to help us with gardening, mowing the grass (and there is a lot of it), picking the herbs for the tea, generally any kind of work around the house, maybe help with eventual farm structures upkeep and small repairs.
  
  Ideally you have some gardening experience and are used to manual labor around the house/farm.

  Alojamiento

  The accommodation is in separate house which used to be a stable. Don't worry, the last animal was there decades ago :) It is now a real house, with two bedrooms with 4 beds each and two bathrooms on the first floor and on the ground floor there is a big living room with fully functional kitchen and refrigerator, and additional two bathrooms. You don't have to cook yourself, we will of course also provide food, because we believe that people who work together also break bread together. Of course if you choose to prepare your own meals in the kitchen, we understand.

  Krasno is in the mountain part of Croatia, just next to the national park Sjeverni Velebit so hiking is an obvious choice as spare time activity. The peak Zavizan is about 15 km from our farm, from there you can hike the beautiful Premuziceva Staza (Premuzic trail), beloved and popular 60 km long mountain trail.
  Mountain biking (alas, we don't have any bikes to provide) is another popular activity, with some marked trails.
  If you don't feel like hiking the mountain, you can just check the Velebit House museum in the village :)
  
  In the near by village of Kuterevo, about 10 km from Krasno, is the famous Kuterevo Bear Sanctuary.
  
  River Gacka, that runs through nearby town of Otocac, is beautiful for swimming or kayaking - you can rent a glass flor kayak and enjoy crystal clear river. Also the Adriatic Sea is just 30 mins drive from the village.
  
  Plitvice lakes are about 80 km from the farm.
  
  Unfortunately there is no public transport in the area. The nearest bus station is in Otocac. There is a taxi/shuttle company in Krasno (Dragec Prijevoz). For camper vans, this is a great base camp to exlore the area, and we have a large enough parking.
