We are a spanish couple with two dogs and 1 cats who live in a cortijo located in a small town next to the Natural Park Sierra del Segura in Jaén (please, check where we are before applying). It is a beautiful nature reserve known for being the second huge natural park in Europe full of rivers and many endemic species. In the fall the area is a paradise for mushroom pickers, the winters are cold with snow in the highest peaks, the spring is an explosion of flowers and the summers hot and dry. The farm has a small orchard with many different trees and also lot of season vegetables. We plant biodinamic just for home. So there is plenty of work to do to keep the orchard alive!
We eat mainly (but not strictly) vegetarian and depending on the availability of the products and the harvest. We don't smoke but it's ok with smokers.
In spring and summer we wake up very early and work until 12-13h because the hot.
Paco is a great farmer and a well knower of this Natural Park. We like mountain hiking and Nature. In fact we are big lovers for the Sierra del Segura. We also like yoga, cinema, theatre and spend time just enjoying.
We are hard workers but also very enjoyable people who loves spending free time hiking, laughing, sleeping and just enjoying life. We are flexible with the work.
For considering your request please let us know your previous experiences with physical work and time you spent on volunteer projects, also would be nice to know about what motivates you to come and volunteer with us. Also you might tell us which work you feel confident with. Couples are especially welcome. We appreciate adjusting to our schedules when needed. We ask 25 hours help per week. Besides we ask volunteers help around 5h per week in common tasks such as cleaning own room and common spaces, tools, cooking, washing dishes, etc. Also please keep your room clean and tidy at least as it was when you entered for the first time.
Great work experience in beautiful surroundings with the opportunity to learn Spanish. Would be also nice to improve our English so english speakers are very welcome.
We provide accommodation or camping space and vegetarian food. You will have the opportunity to learn about ecological agriculture, eco building, canning food, traditional culture, hiking and knowing this incredible Sierra del Segura. -

Ayuda
We prefer couples or people who don't mind spending time by themselves. Mainly we need help in the garden, we are building big boxes and filling them with soil. There is some woodwork, painting, cleaning and general house maintenance. We need help with works in the garden such as watering, removing herbs, moving soil, picking fruits or canning fruits and vegetables, It depend on the season and the weather. Also taking care of the animals (2 nice dogs and a cat).

Alojamiento
We offer accommodation in a private apartment. Private bathroom and vegetarian meals twice a day (breakfast and lunch), 5 days a week (the days we work). On weekends and free days you have your own kitchen for cooking.
