Hello, hello,
My name is Mieke and I am the happy and proud owner of a very beautifull, small and cozy campsite in Central Portugal. Because of my bussy life I'm looking for volunteers to help me with the maintenance of my flower garden and vegetable garden.
I have 2 sons, Matte is 24 years old, already works and lives on his own. He comes to visit every 2 weeks, it is always nice to have him around. My youngest is Seth and he is 18 years old, a real puber but very good company, a funny, crazy kid.
Our family also consist a bunch of animals, almost all rescued and found. We have 3 dogs: Scooby, Lara and Poppy; 4 cats: Snowball, Cookie, Diabolo and Lucifer and 2 guinea pigs Moon and Punky. My animals are super friendly and social and they get very well along with each other.
I already live 25 years in Portugal and can not imagine to live somewere else. Portugal is a very beautifull country and the people are extreemly nice and friendly. I fell in love when I came on holidays and came to live here permanently a year later.
This region is very nice and interesting to visit and to explore. It is dominated by the “Serra da Estrela”, the highest mountain range of Portugal mainland (1996m). It is unique with its huge granite rocks and specatular views, ideal for a daytrip out or to go for a hike, to take a swim in the picturesque river beaches on a hot sunny day, to visit the many rustic mountain villages, …
I run the campsite mostly together with friends, what helps a lot to create a very good atmosfere, we always have a lot of fun. This place is so much more then just my work, it is my life and I still love doing it very much.
The campsite is unique in many ways: the buildings in the big granit blocks, the colourfull gardens with many flowers, the mosaics, the animals, the nature arround us, the mountains, the good food, ...

Workawayers experience living in the inland of Portugal and have the oportunity to discover this beautifull region.

During the season I especialy need help for the garden and my vegetable garden while I'm working on the campsite.
When it's very bussy here there is no time for me to do that.
Outside the season the help is more genral maintenance: gardening, painting, decorating, ....

The campsite is situated in the foothills of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park.
As a campsite we have all touristic information available to bring you to the nicest spots in this region : the mountains, the valleys, lakes, old villages, nice city's...

I have super friendly dogs so dogs are not a problem. But due to the fact I get many guests with dogs I only except dogs outside of the season, so only between 1th of October till 31th of March.

No job was to much for them. Especially Noah was a huge help in the construction of the roofs of the wooden houses.

He is very easy going, adapts to the situation, a concious and mature young man, we had very interesting conversations.
He is also very skilled and does his work with great responsibility.
I wanted to stay for 2 weeks and ended up staying 3. It was my first Workaway experience, but it couldn't have been better. I was lucky enough to be able to house sit for Joost and Conny whilst they had a well deserved christmas break. I had a very relaxing and enjoyable time looking after their horse, 4 dogs and 2 cats.

We had an amazing experience.
Our room was really spacious and had the biggest double bed I have ever seen, Upstairs above the bar.
